RELEASE NOTES:

Finally its done...get new guis, textures, loading screens and new effects. Sorry for the extreme delay...i always thought, to get it finished. But now its your turn to do the finetuning...

This mod is NOT compatible or tested with:

- DD Open Hatch all versions
- FM Interiors
- LUCAs open conning hatch

...or other mods.


NOTE:

This is a beta release. So there might occure bugs...please apologize for any inconvience. Better you back up your files...i never had problems, but the new effects are very cpu intense!

Have fun with my last release for sh3. The Mod is JSGME ready...so just unzip in your mods folder and activate it.

MAKE IT COMPATIBLE to GWX, WAC, etc. READ HERE:

...\Urfischs_ModStrike_Beta1\data\Interior\NSS_Ubo at7

leave this folder out...you can seperate the folder of the mod...to make it compatible with the supermods, just leave the CR.dat (+stuff) out as shown. use only the other folders, with textures and the particles.dat + materials..that should do the trick...

I always asked myself, what bothers me when hitting a ship - the most exciting moment in the game. There are many things, but one counts most: the torpedo-explosion. If this thing is not well done...the hit is not as "beautiful" as it should be. So i reworked the explosion in many hours of testing.

Beside this i tweaked some other things i´ve done in the past to enhance the inner game feeling. As so, the damagescreen, that never fit reality. Now its a real construction plan of the boat. This exists for all types...release is planned end of next week!

maybe this mod is due to usage of wac 4.1 particles.dat (and materials) not compatible with gwx. you have to give it a try...

if you plan to use OH as a basis, you should wait a little longer. ;) The next version is close to release. It has undergone quite a lot of alterations again. Best would be to wait for the final release, some day in 2012. LOL.
Btw, I do like the idea of triggering smoke effects in CR. Adding water spray effects to the conning hatch was an idea I´ve always postponed due to workload. Very good to see someone´s cared about that. If you don´t object I´d like to keep this idea alive and incorporate it into a future OH version. :up:

(Sometimes you've seen in "Das Boot" movie scenes from submerged and still water dropping.)

project is still alive! and youre right, im waiting for a final of the open hatch. it is very time expensive work to include the particle effect in the cr. so i want to do it just one more time. and just for the type vii...if someones later interested in porting this effect to other types, hes free to do so. the technique of copy paste should be not that hard ;)

the fire and smoke is ready so far, i think. problem is, i have no time to test, so please apologize for any problems may occure.

I have taken the gui screens from your mod and added them to my "primary" campaign installation - they are beautifull, it is sad that you didn't made more of them.

I have only two problems with them:
- first is a matter of taste, I would like the intro.tga without the rain "effect" more.
- I have a problem with RadioMsg.tga - the text in game is positioned not on the paper, but on the pencil...

Fantastic effects - absolutely brilliant!

I have a problem however. It turns out I'm unable to interact with either my hydrophone or radio operators.

i.e. I can't give them orders, either by way of clicking on them (they do not turn and acknowledge me), or by using the integrated order pop-up. :hmmm:

Hope this is fixable.. Anyone else having this problem?

And you beated me to include the 30s chronometer in the game...I have it planned, and the graphics done, but not ready yet as the needels are giving me problems :damn:

BTW I found a way to coax the game to make it work with a 30 seconds sphere, and a 15 minutes small dial. :smug:

FOrgive my stupidity, but I'm not really clear on the compatability statement here. Is CD.dat shorthand for something? I can't find any file with that name?

WOW! Very well done! THe background screens and the paper effects are suberb and very "period" like.:salute:

I especially like the reall feeling of Raging fire and the particle effect of the small burning debris bits getting carried aloft in the smoke!:yeah:

Just installed the mod and was greatly impressed!
ganz großes Tennis! :yeah:
Will stay with this mod - even it`s declared as beta.
...works great with FM Interiors and lots of other stuff;
=>
did left the Interior/submarine folder out as recommented by the author.

I also would like to recomment to others the combined sh3.sdl file provided by @Aces for more compatibility if using lots of mods together:

Unfortunately i had to strip off the zones.cfg file as well from the mod cause of using LRT mod - what will i miss? :hmmm:

If I had the files/nodes Urfish is talking about, I would consider to incorporate them. As he already told, it is no big deal to port them over. If it´s working on his system, then it´s most likely that only a few nodes and dial entries have just to be copied to the right places. I´m not following his thread, but if he releases the files/nodes in question, I´ll have a look.

DD Urfish only if you want and if is possible ..in these days can you tell to DivingDuck the files / nodes need to import the effects of the interior of your mod so he can make them compatible with FMInterior?

he should know, what to copy if he takes a look into the "cr.dat" there are only new particle controllers assigned. nothing else...

The explosions in SH5 just plain suck. I'd love to have your explosion effects in SH5 if possible.

yes, there are many possibilities improving the effects in sh5 - but i am still waiting for a s3d update from skwasjer. its very much handwork to edit the effects as to now. so i wait for the update...

but i will continue on that asap!

Kaleun after much enjoyment and wonderment gazing at your effects I have just noticed something! I no longer see the distress flares, forgive me if you think this is nit picking. I just never noticed it before now, any ideas. Been playing with your mod enabled since release so forgive the late input, like I said, too much great stuff going on and never noticed it :oops:

What info is in the materials.dat file for your mod? I'm runnin' GWX3 gold and I have Tomi's VIIC/41 in and running but I don't have the waterstreams working...I think the conflict is a materials.dat conflict.

sorry for the late response, im not often in this forum, since i dropped playing the game.

first: the look of the watersplash from pt-boats is really nice, right. but i finished work on this mod. sorry.

second: no conflict with materials.dat, must be a conflict with particles.dat or with my CR.dat. For gwx compatiblity i suggest, you follow the order from the first post!

sh3 is no more state of the art to me, especially the 3d-crew and the water look more and more old fashioned, odd. and its hardcoded stuff, so we will never see this modded, i think. sh5 would have been a great hit, if it was sh3 v2...but the producers dont wanted to make a good game it seems.

...so sh5 bothered me that much, iam not playing any subsim any more since. beside, i have no more time to play any game...as i was still having some fun with COH or Darkest Hour.

im not happy about this. but it may change some time again, maybe.

as privateer made new success in revising s3d for sh5, it might get a new chance. i will have a look on that...and follow the progress. lets see, what we can do about the fx in sh5 in the next weeks.

Hello,

I'm trying to play with this mod a bit. I noticed that the smoke particles move very quickly in some cases. In this image, wind is 2m/s according to the WO, but the smoke is moving much faster, and at a different angle than the regular funnel smoke.

If I could reduce the effect of wind, maybe I could also reduce the overall particle count (as they would be closer) or maybe increase the particle life time to keep the long smoke trail.

I'm sure all of this is in the .dat files, but I don't fully understand what each part does. I can make the changes myself if someone could give me a guide on what each section does.
