Hello.
One thing that sometimes annoys me is the long way to travel between Pearl Harbor or Midway to the patrol zone/objective,
It will be nice for me if i start (and end) more closer to the action, i don't have a super CPU and i can't go over 1500/2000 Time Comp.
I just want to skip the long cruising part of the patrol.

There is a mod?

If not, someone who knows can explain me how to change the coordinates of my base on the map to leave/dock?, or... 'enable' a closer port as my base?.
Also, to keep it correct, after that i will change the diesel consumption for the boat :DL.

Thank you!

Career start in Midway

Thanks Sergei. :)

I downloaded the mod, and i will study what it changes,
But... my idea is to start the mission somewhere between midway and japan, if i can do that, and start with less diesel (like in Silent Hunter 1) would be great.

Anyone interested in doing such mod?

yes it can be done

you need to edit the starting grid co-ordinates to spawn at so you change the numbers for starting outside the harbor to the numbers for where you want to spawn at.

there is a thread where all this was explained in but i cant remember who it was that explained it (maybe Peabody)

You can set to start anywhere you want but you won't have a base so on the return you would have to go to Pearl Harbor or back to Midway if you use that mod. So without getting into a lot of stuff you could use the Midway MOD and just change the departure location.

Unzip the Midway MOD and open the folders until you find "Flotillas.upc". Open that with notepad. Scroll down until you reach Midway and look for this:

[Flotilla 4.Base 1]
ID= MidwayIsland
NameDisplayable= Midway Island
ExternalBaseName=Midway
AvailabilityInterval= NULL, NULL
DepartureDescription1= -21284276, 3385294, 158 ; Enum of available points, choose one randomly each time a patrol is started
;DepartureDescription2= -18954874, 2563059, 46.252201
DepartureDescriptionOut1= -21283553, 3381925, 270

The numbers in green are the ones you need to change.

Open the Mission Editor in your SH4 folder and select File/New just to get a map loaded, the date does not matter.

Move the map so you can see where you want to start and put your mouse pointer at that location. In the "status bar" at the bottom will be some numbers. Depending on your monitor they may be hidden by the taskbar so you may have to move it out of the way.
It should read:

Coords lng:number[m] lat:number[m] lng:number[deg] lat:number[deg]

You want the first two numbers that have the [m] after them. LOOK CLOSELY FOR A MINUS SIGN, there may be one, or not depending where you are.

Replace the first two numbers in the flotilla file with these new numbers. Make sure you put a minus sign if there is one and the commas between the numbers.
The third number 270 is the heading of your sub when you start. So in this case it will be facing west. You can leave that one alone or change it if you want.
Save the Flotilla file and copy the Midway MOD to your MOD folder and enable.
One important point that is in the readme. This MOD makes changes to the Flotilla,upc and the CareerStart.upc, so if you are using any mods that use these files it will overwrite them.

When you start your mission choose start outside the harbor and you will start in this new location but after your mission you will have to return to Midway to end the mission. Otherwise it would mean having to create a new base and that involves changing a lot of information.
