I was wondering if there is any way to increase air attacks in GWX 3.0. So far I am just about at the end of a campaign where I have been using a Type IX (U-155) since 1941, in that time I HAVE been attacks by a B-24 once in the Caribbean sea, a Catalina off of Iceland, and once or twice a Sunderland and a Wellington with a Leigh Light. What I am wondering is, is there anything I can do to make the Bay of Biscay the grave yard that it became in 43 and 44. Sailing straight out of Lorient I can stay on the surface for days and days and days. I don't think I should have A/C pounce all over me wherever I go but, some how I am missing the gradual escalation of coastal command form the Ansons and Hudsons to the Wellingtons, Halifaxs and Liberators. Its 1945 now and I am just finishing up with a XXI but still very little activity from the AC. Is there any kind of mod to fix this or is it possible I have not installed GWX correctly or somthing I forgot to enable in JGME??
Edit by the way I have the vulerability of the Uboat set to 100%

You would have to edit the RND mis file!!:yep:

Or the edit .scr campaign file, just add more planes, you can randomise their spawn points and waypoints so they arent always in the same spot.

+ Dont go above 128x while crossing the bay, anything higher than that and planes very rarley find you since theyre moving so fast they jump right over your position without ever detecting you.

++ personally i think your nuts, 1 plane is too many and you want more:o :o

Yes and while your at it adjust all the the bases skill levels (crew rating) to maximum (5 I think), may as well jump off the deep end!!:yep:

Can't be sure Reece but increasing Air bases to max 5 (I think) causes a stock bug where nothing spawns from them. Maybe wrong but I recall that from the dark ages.:DL

And disable your radar.:o Be sure to place novice seamen on the bridge, and keep officers and NCO's off the bridge.:arrgh!:

Actually, what is what you after? Yes, I know, more air attacks but I mean WHY? Because it might be that your are suffering from a well known bug in the game, where the aircrafts cease to spawn above 256x time compression, and you are looking in the wrong direction :hmmm:

realism mainly. Not having progressively more air attacks later in the war would be like playing a war game about the eastern front and removing the Tiger tank because its to hard to kill. So a campaign where I have only seen 3 or so aircraft in the bay of biscay over a 4 year period=not very realistic. I want to have the metox pick something up every few hours and have to crash dive. I want leaving and returning to base to be a harrowing part of the journey (just like it was in reality, look at how many Uboats were sunk in the biscay). By late 43 the Type IXs were sticking to the french coast and going around to the northwestern cost of spain to try to avoid air attacks. I will have to play around with my time compression and see what happens.

Hello Bandit :salute:

I would like suggest you MY way to increase the air attacks.

"My way means": you must check by yourself, making test, before implementation inside your game/carrier.

This because I am not high level moder, just "amateur", and after 4 years playing (exclusively) SH3, I am sure just for one thing:

In every computer in the planet happens different events. Example: I had hat ALWAYS air attacks –massive air attacks– with time compression up to 1024.

Maybe because my "trick" works. :hmmm:

And this trick is the tweaking of the AirStrike.cfg inside Cfg folder. [...\Data\Cfg >>> AirStrike.cfg]

Everything inside is clear, if problem, just replay here. :03:

Start change entries from "Night Modifier" and down. Don't change the first one, the "Maximum Aircraft Range" unless all others (extreme) values do not give you satisfaction.

Warning: The PC may suffer from low fps, especially close to the German harbours, because, if you exaggerate, dozens of airplanes may attack harbours, from late 1943.

Yes, you understood well: you increase air attacks, but you increase them EVERYWHERE, not only the sea patrols, but air raids too. . . and not only in the start of every partol. . .

I tweaked up this file, but I tweaked up the AA guns and shells too. My point is to have numerous combats, not going in the bottom. :smug:

Hope you understood my English. . .

NGT, do you also get them in 1939-1942? I discovered that in late war suddenly the aircrafts would start spawning because of getting long range radars, hence they could detect you even if they went by at a huge time compression because the detection radius is very large.

Hello Hitman

Yes, all around Britain Islands, but, like I said, with tweaked AirStrike.cfg

I think (I am not specialist), attacks are not related with air-patrols (only), is related a) with air bases, they are many, and b) with detection: once detected they attack, maybe from every air base inside maximum radius (more or less 1500 km, depend of supermod).

I say that because some times they are more than 6 together, and nobody edit a Campaign file with so many airplanes in patrol in the ocean.

(After all, I have not a manual, but how the game use Air Bases? The game don't need Campaign.rnd or .scr: AirBases send patrols out according to detected enemies inside the perimeter of action. No?)

Regards :salute:
