Was just wondering if anyone could make the A-scope display for the SD radar.:arrgh!:

I have requested this before and was told it can't be done, which is a shame.I prefer to play without map contacts but the sole reason I keep them on is so I have an SD radar display(the map) Maybe someone will figured it out or we can just wait for SH 6(lol)

The SD Radar DOES NOT have a display. It only warns you about aircraft that are close to you. The SJ Radar is the one with the displays, it is a surface search radar.

SD radar(aircraft) contacts show up on the map if you have map contacts enabled, as do SJ(surface) radar contacts.

The question was could someone redo it so the A scope SJ display(the scope with the green line in the center that "dances" when a surface contact is around) would act as an SD radar scope, since there is no SD radar scope in the game as there should be.This would be a decent substitute, would have the PPI scope for surface radar and the A scope to display SD contacts.I have been told by several top modders it can not be done.I believe if it could, someone would have worked on this already.

Since SD radar was no directional...it gave no bearing, just range, would be cool if only the rang would show up on the SD scope.SV radar came along later and was directional.As said, maybe in SH 6 lol

Er, yes, the O.P. knows the in game SD Radar doesn't have a display and I suspect that's why he is asking for a mod that will add such a display to the SD Radar. Unfortunately it does seem to result in a bit of a crash, because of the implementation of the radar system(s!?). Let's hope a better solution is employed in SH 5.

The only "partial" solution you have for being able to see aircraft in the radar display is unfortunately to give the existing SJ surface radar the capability to detect airplanes. Side effects like the inability to differentiate the contact can be solved by keeping the existing SD radar. Since the crew will tell you that there is an aircraft ocntact, you can identify what you see in the SJ display as such. If there are more contacts, it will depend on wether you had already identified some before, and wether you want to risk staying some more seconds surfaced to watch the blip fly across the screen (the speed of movement is very telling of the nature of the contact) :ping:

Someone should try to make an A-scope for the SD the real thing did have an A-scope so it stands to reason that there should be A-scope for the SD. On a real sub there would have been an A-scope for both the SD and the SJ and some subs had an extra set of scopes on them kind of like having two Direct TV receivers but they can only see the same channel.Thing is apperantly the current game engine wont allow this setup.
