Does anyone know how to use the 7 zip to extract a supermod for SH3? I have tried everything & it keeps saying can't extract this archive.

Never had any problem with 7-zip. Maybe the file ist corrupt. Did you check integrity ?

First you need to have the 7zip tool available here as a free download=

http://www.7-zip.org/

(Run the 7zip program and install it on your PC.)

Then you can right-click on documents compressed with 7zip OR win.rar ... then scroll to "7zip" and then "extract files here."

What is the file extension?

I have only ever had that error message when trying to extract a file that, while defaulted (icon shows as archive) to an extraction program, the file is not a extractable archive......

Oh, lets say you were trying to extract the GWX *.bin files for example. ;)

Also, 7-Zip is not always a skeleton key for archives, sometimes other compression programs are required.

7-Zip files that have numerical extensions like 001, 002, 003 are split archives. All parts need to be contained within the same folder.

However, if one of those parts are corrupted, then none of the archive will extract. Were any MD5 codes given for each part and try running a test on the archive (it might tell you which part is problematic).

you need to download the text file thats is available in the thread where you downloaded the files it will explane how to do it step by step ....

Do not download WAC 4.1. I am testing it and it is not for public right now. Files are password protected.

You can download LSH3 here (http://www.lsh3.com/v4/index.html).

There is a readme.pdf how to install LSH3. If you read this pdf you will understand how 7.zip works.

Ok this is how you do it Download all 6 parts to a temp folder called LSH4 in your Documents
Once you have all 6 parts point to the file Called LSH3_Version4.7z001 and right click it.
If you have installed 7zip you will see a 7zip short cut with an arrow if you point to this another set of options will appear chose OPEN ARCHIVE.
Click on the SilentHunterIII file so as to highlight it and then on the blue line that has the word extract under it.
Then it’s just a matter of pressing ok.

IF …you get a error message saying something about JSGME not installing then install it yourself and then repeat the steps up above

Remember Living Silent Hunter 3 is a Supermod and will not be friendly to any other version so you need a clean version of SH3 to use it.

Download JSGME if you don't have it.

Put the jsgme_setup.exe C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII.

Start jsgme_setup.exe it will install a JSGME.exe.

Double click on it (install) and it will make a folder MODS.

Start JSGME.exe and on the left side you will see the supermod.

Click on the supermod (left side) and click on > to enable the mod.

when you extract the first file it will extract the others as well if you look in your mods folder they will not be visable there they will only be visable in JSGME when you open it

On the right side at: http://www.lsh3.com/v4/index.html look at Mods für LSHIII Version 4 (black background) empfohlen ! ... means recommended.

Download all the mods at the right side too.

Anyway, (thehiredgun) to be on the save side: right mouse click and 7-zip >> extract here. Then drag or copy the complete mod to the MODS folder in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\MODS

Check if the file (LSH3_V4_Full.7z) is 874 MB (or more). Right mouse click on LSH3_V4_Full.7z and go to properties.

If not 874 MB, your download is incorrect. Download again.

Hi thehiredgun,

as Rafael posted, the FULL-version must have 874 MB when downloaded. Do you have fast internet access (like DSL) or dial-up modem?

If you don't have fast access, it is better to downlod the splitted version. The FULL version is on a swiss server - and this server has a time limit for downloads of 1 hour (conting starts a minute 01 after full hour!)

BTW - you can d/l LSH3 V4 on SHMF too (splitted version). Try this link:

Is this the Living Silent Hunter 3 mod? I used Winrar for this i did not need to install a 6 split version? Just unzip all files to a folder then move the LSH3 folder to your mods enabler. Problem with this mod is it would take a very, very, VERY long time to load. I'm serious, well for my PC something like 20-30min in some cases. I could not figure out why other mods like NYGM-GWX load in far less the time. Once loaded it is a nice mod but I was put of by the long load times.

I opened it (LSH3) with 7-zip without any problems. Sometimes you don't need winrar. If you want to be on the save side, download a trial version of winrar at:
