View Full Version : Nero CD IMG file of Enigma: Rising Tide GOLD
I've posted up a Nero cd IMG of the Gold version of Enigma:RT that we created when we started to work on HDV - no cd requirement, no starforce. This doesn't have the new hooks that were put in for HDV, if I find that code I'll see about making a patch out of it. I believe Neal will be linking it up.
This is for any of you that feel inclined. Its now an antique game, particularly with SH5 coming...
Note: East was the head of the studio that created this game, Enigma, so it is ok that he has decided to make this available. -- NS
East what's the latest on HDV?
HDV died when things went south with Resurgent. They're gone, we're gone. I'm going to post the stories and the rest of the HDV stuff at some point (after I dig it back up).
Here is a link to a zip file containing a Nero CD IMG file of Enigma: Rising Tide GOLD.
This was part of the build for the Resurgent HDV project.

Hello, are you sure that link is correct? I downloaded the image twice now - and it only contains an old version of the Acrobat Reader and abot 640 megabytes of PDFs about Jazz? :o

agree, this image is nuked:down:
Is Enigma Rising Tide a Indie Project?
Amazon is selling the game.
:hmmm:
I'm checking the image file, not sure what's up (probably compiled the wrong img)...yup, my bad...that was my jazz realbooks...=0
I'm uploading an iso image right now. Watch for another post once its up.
@sung: Enigma was an indie project, a bunch of us (ex-dynamix) got together, started the company with our own money, raised some money from family and friends, built the game, then shopped the completed game to a publisher. Originally GMX; G2 Games now I think - beware. Later Dreamcatcher, Halcyon, many others. IMHO - used to be the highest goal...make a game, get signed, get rich (oops...). Now, make a game, keep it and release it yourself...old model was broken before we got in it...live, learn, do it again.
Here is the corrected download:
http://www.ctoday.com/tmp/ENIGMART_GOLD.rar
NOTE!!!: This is really an ISO file, not a RAR file. Named it ".rar" so I didn't have to add the type to my webserver config. SAVE it to a directory somewhere, then change the extension to ".iso" then it is mountable, burnable, etc. About 705mb. This is the DRM free version.
let me know if there are any issues...

Than k you, I have been having issues since I updated my XP to SP3 and my computer crashed..now I can't get the NO cd patch to work, the starforce remover that I got from the tides of war.net website. I will try out your GOLD downlaod and see how that works for me, do you know if this will work for Windows 7? I guess I will find out later tonight and post my findings.
Once more Thanks, ERT has been an old favorite of mine for many years now!

I am proud to announce that ERT GOLD will run on Windows 7
my only question is what happened to the Battlecruiser that I could play?
Do I need to play all the levels before unlocking it?
It's been a while since I have last played.
Mark
If you saved your old campaign file then just copy it into the new install, it will unlock the BC's.

I've split these posts into a new thread of their own, so I can add a Subsim news link on the main page. Plus I think this is worthy of its own thread.:salute:

It was a shame could never get it to work with Vista. Am sorry to hear that it is officially dead. I was looking forward to eventually playing warships online, that would have been great!

I had it shelved for over 2 years and downloaded the image a few days ago (I could never get my own version to work with the gold patch). Doesn't this version include battleships, or am I mistaken?
It does, but I think it has to be unlocked somehow. I havent quite figured out what the requirements are to do that. Maybe someone with knowledge could post on this
I ttoo would like more instructions.

Thanks for making this available. I actually bought the game back when but
never installed when I saw it had SF on it. A previous bout with SF fried my
CD burner and I had to replace it. I am having trouble installing the game though.
I've D/Led this file twice now (thinking the first was corrupted) and each time I try to install I get a
"...is not a valid win32 application". I burned it to disk as an .iso and tried win2000 and win98/ME compatibility but no joy...
Anyone else have this issue? (I have XP sp3 btw). The total data on the cd reads 727,349,248 or
693 mb. Can anyone confirm this against their own .iso?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

That's strange. All I did was to change the file ext. to iso, Extracted the archive file to the same directory and ran the autorun file. The installation worked fine.

I tried that too. I'm wondering if there is some kind of corruption with the files.
I had to try several times before getting what I thought was the whole thing...
EDIT:
It was definitely a bad download. I tried one more time and, as they say, 3rd time's a charm.
I was able to install simply by unzipping the files to a folder and running the installer. Good luck all!
downloaded & runs great thanks EAST , its really good to play some of these old sims & even old mods for them , am always looking out for the old missions & mods for sh3 , but I find I its nice to drift back to enigma now & then . a saved games file would be good . thanks again .foz out .:salute::yeah::woot:

Worked for me too,
I opened using winrar, extracted the archive to a temp directory on desktop and ran the setup file from there. It installed no problem. Runs fine too.
WinXP SP3 here, btw.
Thanks East!

i downloaded the gold version and i just downloaded something called the "Enigma: Rising Tide 2.1.3" which neal uploaded in the subsim downloads section and it was described as a patch so do i need this 213 patch for the gold version or is it only for those who dont have the gold version?
also i dont see any mods for Enigma: Rising Tide so is the game easy to mod?
are there mods available for this game and if so where do i find those?

Thanks East for Enigma. It was a game I wanted but didnt buy with all the Starforce issues it had. I'll try downloading it sometime soon. Be interesting to hear about HDV, and Sierra too. Thats a name I havent heard in awhile. I remember Playing an old flight sim by Sierra long ago I had a LOT of fun with...:)

Kelly, this is very kind of you. :)
I also hope you can dig up any HDV components, or the whole mod, and share them as well.
I was sad to see that some of timetraveller's TOW-posted mod tools went offline to be bundled with HDV, and are still offline now HDV was denied us. Although I still have those, they would be very useful to those above who are now retrying, or installing ERT for the very first time.
I'm going to leave the image up through the end of the weekend, taking it down on Monday - I'm starting to exceed my bandwidth allowances on the server. Everyone is encouraged to put up a mirror before she goes down.

HDV died...(I'm) going to post the stories and the rest...at some point (after I dig it back up).
The uproar surrounding SHV is but a muted whisper when I look back on the then declaration of the pending release of HDV. Now just the notion that one may at some point in time release it to the community, my heart soars beyond measure. I mean this in all sincerity. Those of you who along with me are Enigma:RT diehards know exactly what I mean. If there were a way to spur him (after all he's endured) short of the taking of innocent life, count me in. And if there is ever a call of a monetary incentive, my purse is open. For now, I lean with bated breath on the promise of one of integrity who knows no guile...to dig it back up!
First of all thank you so much for posting this! I am a real fan. I have an edition of enigma which doesn't work with the gold patch but this is just great! :D
Now to my question:
Is there a way to make the custom missions work in this version? I have not been able to make one work. I have followed the instructions and I have a new folder in the patrol screen and it shows my mission. But everytime I try to start it it crashes. Also the mission description is not showing.
Also does anyone still have timetravellers enigma tools? I have searched for about two days and can't seem to find them anywhere.
Any reply would be *really* apppreciated!!

Hello all,
I own both the original version and the gold edition of Enigma and have enjoyed playing them quite a bit. However, a recent rebuild of my home PC has led me to using Win7 and now the game won't run anymore. It gives an odd error stating only that the game needs to be used on a released OS and it lists 5-6 of them, ending at WinXP. I have tried Compatability mode in every variation of the selectable options to no avail on getting it running. Is there a patch fix or such out yet to allow this game to operate on Win7? I would much like to get back to hunting the cold blue seas and any help is greatly appreciated.
If you need any information specifics on my PC, let me know, I'll provide it.

Apologies, got the answer, forgot to post it.
You will need to find the free version (without starforce) it will run on Win 7.
Most of the old links are down, perhaps a shout out to the Subsim community and they may have a link somewhere.

You can download it at the Games-on-net website. Just register and you can get it free. Its about 600mb.
I've put up the ISO file again along with all of the HDV components I could find here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=196180
Included is every piece of the HDV build that we completed before Resurgent took the money and ran including stories, captains logs, some missions, etc. - including the tools (volumizer, mission assistant, etc.)
You can download it at the Games-on-net website. Just register and you can get it free. Its about 600mb.
