Hi

Before the questions begin. Yes I have installed GWX 3.0 over an clean installation of SH3 Version 1.4b and Yes I have tried different downloads of the Package and NO I dont have the Problem neither in Stock SH3 nor in LSH 4.0.

My Problem is that if I Zoom in the Map (Navigation or TDC) this black square http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/8757/sh3img1792009151957296.png

appears at a certain Zoom Faktor. If i zoom in more the Square grows with zoom.

I have received your PM, but have chosen to answer you here incase someone else has the same problem, this thread can be referred to.

It seems that somehow one or more of your files have become corrupt.

Download the following file, extract it to your MODS folder in your GWX 3.0 installation... and enable it with JSGME as you would with any optional mod.

(GWX U-boat .SHP files.zip)

Please return and let us know if this sorts your problem.

Please also have patience my friend.

^ I suspect the issue is more serious than the overlay TGA's being corrupt.

I would need to check my install but that overlay should not appear in a correct GWX install. It's a remnant from Stock. Also, this issue, while it manifests as a black square (due to corrupted alpha channel) it always displays itself as a fully sized black square. As GWX uses a (IIRC) a 1500m overlay, the OPs square is too small.

I suspect the entire Submarine folder is nerfed but I can't confirm that until I check to see if the Stock Overlay is still embedded within the GWX U-Boat DAT files.

@ last1976

Did GWX install with no error messages?
Did you MD5 check the downloaded files?
Is this issue displayed with every user available Uboat?

KL has given you a start point, please report back on that and let us know before I start digging further.

Don't panic, we've seen this before and (barring GFX card incompatibilities) it's been fixed.

Hi Guys thanks for your quick answers.

@Danlisa
no error messages in installation
yes I have controlled the files
and yes the Problem is in every Type of Boat

@KL

Unfortunatly your "Repair Mod " don t work, the Problem remains the same.

I ve now solved it partly for me by copying the stock "shp" files in the submarines folders and the black sqare is gone.
Unfortunatly I have to abandon the AngleCircle ( don t know the correct word in English) in this solution.

But I think I can handle it.
Surely I will be thankfull anyway for a solution with the GWX Circle.

Its an Geforce 4200 ti 128 mb.:wah:

I farking knew it!:damn::damn: Everytime I see this problem the user has a Ti series card and it only happens with a GWX install.:damn: What did we do differently?

OK, this may not mean much to anyone, but I think the issue maybe RLE compression of the TGA file for the overlay bearing indicator.

I still don't understand why the Stock Overlay (MapTarget.tga) is displaying larger than the 1500m GWX overlay.

Let me get a set of these together for testing.:up:

Just a thought, what overlay does LSH use? Can you copy them over?

I'm also looking for Patos Original 1500 & 3000m bearing overlay, so if anyone has them.......(could get them from GW or earlier versions of GWX, suppose).

Dan,
I have it in my archives, but I will have to search and I won't have time for a while (I am away from home).

@Danlisa

I have the 3000m Bearing Overlay from Patos on my Mediafire Site,but I don't have the 1500m Bearing Overlay Mod.

Many thanks.:up: Don't worry about the 1500m version I can make one. (and I think I've worked out the 1 deg offset problem with the overlay :know:)

Thanks for the offer Irish, pipped to the post though mate.:)

I'll play with these tonight and see what happens. @ last1976 I hope to get you 2 versions, one with the TGA compressed (RLE Compression) which should result in a TGA size of around 2.7mb (that's good) and the other as a uncompressed TGA, file size around 30mb (that's NOT good). This should give us an idea if the RLE compression is causing your issue.

To save me uploading all the files before we know for sure, what Boat type are you using at the moment?

Try this version on the VIIB. I trust you know where to put it? FYI, I have stamped the TGA with my username. Why? I want to know if it's the Alpha Channel of the original TGA or whether there is a hardware conflict on Ti series cards.

Hi,
first the bad news, your file did not work .

The good news are your thought about copying the LSH 4.0 file(s) worked out. Unfortunatly the overlay is much more primitive but it works.
