Mod file DFa_UpDnRot_Flags_fin2.7z ... size ~17 MB.

This mod (very simple mod) is for SH3 ver. 1.4b game with GWX 3.0 mod.
This mod is absolutely independent original work, and this mod don't uses stuff from other similar mods of other authors.

This cumulative mod is contained two mods ... DFa_UpDnRotSMC_1.1 and FlagOnTurms.
This mod is made for all human sub Turms for GWX 3.0 mod.
In this mod we can control rotation, raising/lowering of DF antenna and raising/lowering
of Flag on sub turms ... using new StateMachine Classes... and using next commands:
1) DF Antenna Raising and rotation beginning - keys Shift+V ...
2) DF Antenna Rotation stop and lowering - keys Ctrl+V ...
3) DF Antenna Rotation stop and lowering - for commands:
Crash_dive
Periscope_depth
Snorkel_depth
Dive
Set_depth
4) Raising flag - keys Shift+F ...
5) Lowering flag - keys Ctrl+F ...
Note: Commands Raising/Lowering flag work if the Watch Officer is on the bridge.
...
In this version (Fin2) by default used SH4-Style Flags ...
and are added random animations for imitation of search of DF antenna...
and stock small errors for Turm2D_1 and Turm2D_2 are corrected ...

Installation:
Using JSGME ...
Unpack DFa_UpDnRot_Flags_fin2.7z file in MOD folder.
To attach to game as last mod...
In archive there is additional folder StockStyle_Flag, in it there are two folders
(NormFLagAnim and SlowFLagAnim) with different speeds of animations of Stock-Style flags
... connect any as mod after the main (DFa_UpDnRot_Flags_fin2.7z) mod.

S3D accelerates editing of files content ... especially object-animation, flag mesh animations

1) GE_subFLG --> German Military Flag
2) GE_subCFLG --> German Civil Flag

For compatibility with single missions (in companies all OK), (here and there) i have applied flag with stick
even if on turm there is flagspole ...

Thank you very much Anvart, it works beautifully. Is there any way that you could incorporate Privateer's Turm7C Your Way and or Turm 7B Your Way so that it would be possible to have Turm embems as well?.

Hi Anvart,

I haven't seen him for a while either. I was just wondering if the mods could be combined as they can't be used together as they both alter the turm 7 .dat files.

I know that he planned to add the flag etc. to his mod but he's not been around for while and I'm sure that there are others who would love to see these two excellent mods combined.

Anvart, this is amazing! It will add that extra touch to the realism, especially only having the flag up when we want it up, like entering and leaving harbors.

Tested it in conjuction with your radar antenas mod. All ok, really great mod, a must have.:up: Only the radar antena that don't go down automatically when i ordered PD. I will post this issue on the correct radar mod thread.

Edited: just more two things (feedback) :
1. perhaps the flag movement/annimation (wind effect) is too much? I guess that it could be a bit less quick. Anyway, just my taste, not important.
2. If I forget to up my DF antena - will this have any effect on the game radio contact detection or is just an eye candy? (I'm asking this because in GWX it is always up, you just can't see it when submerged) - then I don't know if it is just eye candy or not.

:rotfl::yep: As I said before, I will leave everything down except the flag when in the harbor, and everything up except the flag when at sea. Manually lowering the RDF and Radar is easy, and looks cool as well.

That is ok, this is just a detail...but the periscope have much different situation to be used, it's really in the kaleum/player hands. Not the same situation of the radar antenna that is a radioman function/responsability and then the player will not recall to lower it all the time, IMHO.
I also can understand that perhaps you need to choose if the Radar or DF antenna will use the automatically lower due Sh3 limitations, no?
Anyway, in the end , what is important is that the mod is awesome and works very very well! Thanks again mate!:up:

Hallo,

I got this after I enable the mod plus FM30_UpDownSMC.

Single mission with a IXD2! Any one got this also?
I then did the naval artillery academy mission (type VII) and dived, and it didn't show! Maybe bug with the IXD2?

JSGME only gave a conflict with OLC's commands.cfg but after installing this mod the tdc dials and attackdisk no longer work. is that to be expected?
disabling the mod made OLC run fine again.

too bad because I absolutely love the flag, nice job :salute:

It is a very good, mod. I can say 2 mods in one (DF + Flags). :yeah:

It works properly. :up:

It complete my old dream for flag in IXD2. :D:p2: :D:p2: :D

Very nice. I did one add-on for me, with water stream for XXI, super (private, permissions rules complicate for me. . . but I can sent you if you want) ;)

Anvart , just tested your mod (doing some ...merging in commands en_cfg first) and all i can say is that it is absolutely beautifull mod ! especially the sh4 look flags :up:
the shift+v,ctrl+v,shift+f,ctrl+f commands is understandable by my but
i notice in the commands two new commands (one is shift+r and the other ctrl+r) and also you have disable the radar toggle command ([Cmd142]

is these changes on commands nessecery for this mod? or what is their purpose?

But here Commands_en.cfg is same as in FM30_UpDownSMC.7z mod ... for compatibility... becouse they should be used together ...

I see what you mean. The size would be too large indeed if you mean to say that each flag would cost 26 MB.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the time to modify files as I used to.

The better a mod works, the less the feed back. I have had over five hundred downloads of my mods and have received one reply; and that was to inform me that a link was broken and needed to be repaired.

With todays massive hard drives, I don't see size as a problem, unless it slows loading or game play too much. Perhaps, the flags could be limited to just war ships and one's own sub. I would be happy to devote 50 or 60 Gb to one game for such a sensational visual effect.

Just wanted to let you know that this is one of the best mods here at Subsim. I had wanted the flag for my Boat for a long time. I used to use Racerboys Type VIIC just for his flags. Now I can have it for any Boat........Thanks very much.:up::up::up:

You can remove unnecessary flags through S3D...
...
If you wish to accelerate animation you should reduce time of last frame (for 30% as example) and calculate intermediate
time values ... and edit using S3D. :woot:

Unless you want to choose one over the other, you will have to compare and merge the commands_en.cfg files from both mods.

Thanks KL, but I don't know how to merge (and edit) the commands_en.cfg from both files?

It's "abracadabra" for me! :)

Maybe someone is using a specific mod (OLC G2 or HSie GUI) with this flag mod? And can explain how to do it?

Thanks for your help :yep:, but when I install it via JSGME it says the following:

"Commands_en.cfg" has already been altered by the "GWX 2- 6 D-S-K v1.1" mod."

GWX 2- 6 D-S-K v1.1 is the GUI with big dials and not the 'standard' GWX GUI.

The same message as before, which means that certain integrated orders would not work. :damn:

2) and after my editing connect all mods in the same order as in first case and connect my mod as last mod!!!

Hi Anvart,

I did it this way:

1. Leave the original commands_en.cfg in CFG folder.

2. Install a specific GUI, like OLC, HSieGui or my GWX 2- 6 D-S-K v1.1 via JSGME.

3. After installing the above GUI, install your DFa_UpDnRot_Flags_final via JSGME.

4. Paste (put) the changed/edited commands_en.cfg in the CFG folder.

5. Now all integrated orders are still working!

Done... :yeah:

Shift+F and CTRL+F to raise and lower the flag.

Check up identifiers, they should be as is shown in a picture (as in GWX mod)...
If they are others edit them using S3D (as is shown in a picture) ... or download mod again ...

Anvart I do not know how to use Silent 3ditor but I'll try to explain in detail.
As i was saying I wanted to try a Type IX sub, so I requested a transfer from my current base at Saint Nazaire to Lorient. After being transferred I purchased a Type IX and proceeded to buy upgrades. Finally I started a mission but at the start of the mission a get a message from my crew telling me that various components have been destroyed ( periscopes, radio antenna). Funny thing is that they work:haha::har:. I removed your mods and the message disappeared. However on a Type VII sub everything is ok. I enabled the modes as Jimbuna sugested and tried again but to no avail:damn:. I ended the mission, docked at Lorient and started another mission. To my surprise the message was gone but the periscopes and radio antenna were destroyed and in the F7 screen appeared innoperable.

I played a bit with my mods trying to find the culprit and after enabling/disabling mods and loading/ exiting /reloading the game I think the cause is the Dfa_UpDownRot_Flags_final.

If you use my DSK GUI mod, delete the Cfg folder from Anvart:

I wonder how you guy make these mods and I'd love to make something by myself for the community too. I have some backgroung on computer modeling and graphics (not related- molecular modeling and drug design- but it might be helpful). I have the time too. I'm a plastic/resin ship modeler too. Probably, there are some tutorials on modding somewhere in this forum. I will make a seach but any recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if anyone has modded a Captain fgure that pops up on the bridge when the boat surfaces, but maybe you could manually "raise" and "lower" him as an object instead?

But for now no modding for me ... I was in hospital since last Tuesday with (again) heart problems. I am a heart patient since I was 26 years old. Now I am 52. And at age 32 (20 years ago) I had 4 by-passes. :down:

The doctors put a stent inside an older stent from the year 2000.

I will still visit subsim.com but as said above, no modding for me. I am sure you would understand my situation.

I need to recover and that takes time. I will never be a 100% healthy person ... I know that for sure. Every time the Doctors try to fix some things that they can do.

At last they were able to do something and I hope it will lengthen my life (again) for a couple of years. And can be here online on this wonderful community!

After successfully installing DD's OH mod I thought I'd give this a try and it works a treat!:yep: Both flags and antenna lower and raise in the proper positions as well as DD's functions!!:up: Have tested for some time now and all seems OK!:yep:

I've never encountered that. But then, I lower the flag as soon as I'm out at sea, and leave it down. No submarine commander is going to waste time lowering the flag before a crash dive, and no officer is going to allow his flag to get drenched.

The flag is for showing off to the civilians at home.

However, I tested it (DFa_UpDnRot_Flags_final) with GWX 3.0 and my OLC G2 GUI (or another not standard GUI) won't work correctly anymore.

The conflict is Commands_en.cfg and certain integrated orders don't work.

Is there a certain solution to fix this?

well the same happens to me and reading the previous posts I saw that rapidshare delete the fix posted before :nope: so... I work for the fix and uploaded it for the ones that want to have this GREAT mod + integrated orders working together... :rock:
