The bridge assembly for the Glorious is not part of the hull, it's been added as an ancillary.

No amount of zone or sphere alterations can fix it.

The problem is this.

Impacts to the hull show up as hit marks, especially for those using the Torpedo damage Final ver2 mod.
Since the bridge assembly for the Glorious is not part of the hull, it doesn't show hit marks.
For zones there are 2 options, destructable = yes, or no.
If desructable = yes ( as for the zone linked to the bridge in original model ), then when the bridge is hit, it's destroyed and disappears.

You may not notice it very often because she has the armour levels of a battleship, so it'll only happen when the bridge is hit by a heavy calibre shell or bomb. It won't show up via torpedo attack.
If destructable = no, ( by assigning a non-destructable zone), the bridge won't disappear, but it still won't show hitmarks either.

The only cure is to make the bridge assembly part of the hull model, and i can't do modelling.

The pic above shows the bridge gone, having been destroyed.
Below is a pic of the bridge still in place, but despite the amount of hits to the rest of the boat, the bridge is unmarked.

I've messaged VonDos, but he's not been online for a week, and may be on holiday or something (it is August :) )

He's also given me permission to improve the Glorious if i can, but i need help from a modeller for this one.
If any modellers out there can give me instructions on how to integrate the bridge as part of the hull model, preferably with step by step instructions, i can get this fix done.

This one's just eye candy

An Illustrious under attack from a Hipper class heavy cruiser.
Starboard prop has stopped and she's smoking from the engine.

On second thought i think best to wait for VonDos.
I don't know how modellers get the shapes, it may be from a list of compatible options, like a "bits box" of shapes and parts that are compatible with SH3.
I'll see what he can do.

Hi Mikhayl, i'm working on your suggestion as i speak, i've just got a bit of a problem atm with S3D generating an error messge saying index -1 is out of range in the .dat.
The .dat node index starts at zero tho.
Can't find an index -1 in any node in the .dat anywhere.
I'll get back to you when i've found the cause.

I must have used the wrong ID when i copied the original node. Seemed a bit odd it generated an error in the .dat instead of the .val.
In the visual damage node theres an id that starts 0x8bd48 and a parent id that starts 0xbc63 ( which i think is the hull id ), so in the node i copied i set the id the same as original 0x8bd48 and the parent id to 0x10a1adb6d12c1100 which is the id ( but not the parent) for the bridge.
The parent id's in the sub catagories that display the parameters have been left identical at 0x8bd48.

I hope that's right , i've only been experimenting with zones and their parameters in the main hull up till now, so i've not had to mess with model id's, particle id's or any other id's.
It doesn't generate errors any more, but collisions still don't show up, despite adding spheres to the bridge.

It would be nice to get impacts to show up because it would help me determine what exactly causes the bridge to disappear, but theres something about the bridge setup i've obviously not twigged yet, that's completely seperate from the visual damage effects.

No probs :), but i have to get it right or people will never forgive me if i mess up the Glorious lol.
And i won't forgive myself either.
I don't know if you could follow my attempted explanation of what i did adding the extra visual damage node for the bridge, but it doesn't work.
Could it have anything to do with ancillaries not showing hitmarks ( things like light weapons and aircraft on deck seem to get blown up in the air with a splinter explosion but don't show an impact mark, and IIRC heavy weapon ancillaries don't either )?.
I tried to change the node structure on the Aquilla cos i had a similar problem with the command deck on her ( command deck blew off leaving the mast in mid air above where the CD had been ) but i probably did something wrong there too because i couldn't link the mast to the command deck instead of the hull.
I'll have another go and see if i can get it right this time ( i've been going through the German cruisers again the last couple of days).
I got the 4th prop working on the Aquilla tho which was some consolation :)
Sorry i'm not too good with nodes and id's atm.
I don't know if you play SH3 or SH4, but if you're an SH3'er is there any chance you could try adding the visual damage node for the Glorious bridge on your game to see if it works for you?
And VonDos IS on holiday (lucky s*d).
Didn't say when he'd be back tho so he can't help atm.

Ok m8 :)
I didn't intend to cause you any inconvenience, i just figured if you were running GWX3 with the Glorious installed it would be a quickie to add the visual damage node and run a simple test mission with the Glorious under attack from axis vessels, to see if she registered hits to the bridge.
The only difference in my copied node is that the parent id number links to the bridge instead of the hull. Childs in original and copied link to the effect ( 0x8bd48.......51e)
I tried searching the id for the effect using S3D's search id function, but S3D doesn't open .TGA's ( the effect file) so nothing showed up ( probably a good thing).
I'll send you the original .zip file for the Glorious via pm.
