You know what I liked best about the Saints/Pats game....the Saints kept on scoring and did not relent. The same method the Pats use and have been criticized on. I'm glad to see the Saints crush the Pats into the ground. :yeah:

Just thought I'd share this. I found it posted at Thehuddle ffl website. I thought it was pretty funny.
Brett Favre (http://www.thehuddle.com/nfl/player/1025/) - QB - Minnesota Vikings Posted 12/3/09 11:33am et http://www.thehuddle.com/images/twitter_thumb2.gif (http://www.twitter.com/?status=@TheHuddle.com+Brett+Favre+-+Favre+named+NFC+Offensive+Player+of+the+Month+-+http://www.thehuddle.com/fantasy_football_news.php)The Minnesota Vikings announced QB Brett Favre has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November. Favre was 91-for-130 for 1,193 yards with 12 touchdown passes and zero interceptions in four games.
Huddle Up: It's all Favre, all the time in Minnesota. In addition to his stellar stats, Favre has patched up the Liberty Bell, righted the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and cured the common cold. He's also walked on water, though in Minnesota most lakes are frozen year-round so that's not as impressive as it might sound. Oh, and Favre's penchant for the touchdown pass has taken a big bite out of Adrian Peterson's scoring potential. See, he's not perfect.

Brett Favre (http://www.thehuddle.com/nfl/player/1025/) - QB and the Minnesota Vikings go together real good.
They always were a passing team and then they got that great running back to make them even better (who just got caught speeding 109 mph)
Now they have Brett Favre and they are thinking superbowl
I think a lot of people around here owe Brett Favre with a, "I'm sorry I thought your were all washed up Brett"
Like a good hambuger vs a fast food one ... you just need the right ingredients and a lot of love.
Saints win super bowl... thread over.:)

I don't know if I thought Favre was ever washed up, I did say he was a serious self-absorbed drama queen. I will say he is playing the best football ever currently. I'm still waiting to see if he "Favre's Up" the Big Game in the playoffs with a slew of up-for-grab passes that end up getting picked off.

I watched them dismember the Pats last weekend.
As a Colts fan this made me very happy :woot:
As a Colts fan this made me very sad as well. I was deeply impressed with the Saints on both sides of the ball. I can see a Colts/Saints Super Bowl coming and if we don't have our defense back in place it could be a long day for Peyton. If we do have our defense back healthy it is likely to be one of the best Super Bowls that will ever be played.

As much as I am in favor of the Horns getting a shot, I would have loved for them to lose so that a small school like Cincy got a shot. I think its sad that Congress has to take time to deal with BCS, but its beyond clear that BCS is bullsheet and needs to go away in favor of a playoff system.

Typical flag-fest for the Ravens! If the Ravens were selling apple turnovers that would be one thing but unfortunate the Ravens were selling football turnovers and the Packers were buying. :shifty: These are the two things that kill the Ravens game after game. Yes, a win is a win in football. Not like baseball were there are three games played against the same team. Not once but several times during the season. Funny thing about football, the Saints could win all season but lose the very first playoff game ending the run. Baseball, World Series, seven games if needed. Makes a difference when you can say, "We will get'em tomorrow." That is the only thing I hate about football. For the players, physically, I can understand. Imagine a if they played as many games as the baseball players do. :o Football is sudden death. One play, one foul, one mistake and it could be all she wrote.

Haha, game on! That's the thing I love about football. :D Let's argue about the nature of sudden death in football. I have always supported the concept that the stakes are paramount in every game, and even more so in OT. There ain't no tomorrow in football, it's kill or be killed, sudden death is awesome. :yeah: "One play, one foul, one mistake and it could be all she wrote. " Thaaat's right :) You better deliver when it's crunch time, cause there ain't no do-overs or second chances, like in the more relaxed and forgiving baseball. This is war! One play, one yard--a game-winning catch with one toe dragging in the corner of the endzone with no time remaining--can be all that separates greatness from despair.
Now, rebuttal please. :)

I can not volley fire when I agree 100%! It is now or never in football. That is what drives me nuts. Like I said, the Saints could win every game in the regular season and then find themselves packing (no pun Kevin :O:) in the first round of playoffs. It is wild no doubt.

Oh. :06:
I did find it refreshing that the coach, Sean Peyton of the Saints says they are not taking their foot off the gas all the way through the season, as opposed to the strategy the Colts employ annually, of securing HFA and resting their starters. I don't know if I am sold on that being the best way to reach the SB... will be interesting to watch dem Saints openly go for 16-0.

Keep dreaming. The Panthers will beat the Saints in the last regular season game.
Many reasons for this.
#1 - No Jake Delhomme to gift wrap turnovers for the Saint's D - Go MATT MOORE!
#2 - Division games are always tough - but we will be going in to that game likely 5 and 9. They will overlook us - thinking of that week of rest they will get during wildcard week.
#3 - Ron Meeks, Jeff Davidson and MANY Panther players will be fighting for their jobs - either with Carolina or with other teams in the league. The Saints will have ONE thing to play for - a shared record.
#4 - NFC South teams historically play spoiler on each other - whether it be playoff hopes, HFA or in this case a "perfect" season.
#5 - Did I mention no Jake Delhomme playing for the opposing team????

So, let's see, who do you think will make the AFC wildcard cutoff over the next two weeks? Wanna make some predictions? :DL
Indy has won the South, SD has won the West.
Division Leaders:
Pats is leading East Division by two games; 9-5 & plays home to JAX, then at Hou
Bengals leads thr North Division by one game, No. 4 seed still up for grabs; owns head-to-head tiebreaker with Ravens; 9-5 * plays KC, at NYJ
Wild Card Hopefuls:
Ravens (control their own destiny; 8-6 / at Pit, at Oak);
Broncos (control their own destiny; 8-6 / at Phi, KC)
Outside Looking In, But Sill Alive: Just about everyone (except Oakland:wah:).
Jaguars (best standing among the six teams; 7-7 / at NE, at Clev)
Dolphins (need to win out; 7-7 / HOU, PIT)
Jets (need to win out and hope 9-7 is good enough to get in -- not looking good; 7-7 / at Indy, CIN)
Steelers (alive, but barely; 7-7 / BAL, at Mia)
Titans (need to win out to even have a chance ... and a slim chance at that; 7-7 / SD, at Sea)
Texans (it's not looking good, even if they win out, buncha peeps gotta lose; 7-7 / at Mia, NE)

Love the following bits :D
The Broncos started the season 6-0, yet are now clinging to a playoff spot after losing 20-19 at home to the Raiders and the hideous QB JeMarcus Russell. Losing to Russell is like losing a game of darts to a blind man with no arms
Brett Favre suddenly looks like a 40-year-old quarterback and the Vikings have some real problems. Their defense was shredded in the fourth quarter by unknown QB Matt Moore and the Carolina Panthers, 26-7, in a game that saw Favre harassed all night and led to the Vikes' lowest point total of the season. This game was on national TV, as was the 30-17 loss two weeks ago to Arizona, in another game where Favre did not play well. Last week, the Vikings blasted the Bengals, but Favre threw for only 191 yards.
Coach Brad Childress tried to yank Favre Sunday night, even though Minnesota was leading Carolina, 7-6. This was to prevent Favre from becoming a pinata for Panthers rush demon Julius Peppers, who was abusing anybody the Vikings sent to block him.
“Brad wanted to go in a different direction. And I wanted to stay in the game,” Favre said. “It’s not 70-6, but we were up 7-6. I said I’m staying in the game. I’m playing.” Favre the drama queen strikes again.

Week 17
Jaguars at Browns - Jags
Bengals at Jets - Bengals
Patriots at Texans - Texans
Steelers at Dolphins - Steelers
Titans at Seahawks - Titans
Ravens at Raiders - Ravens

So, if these predictions play out, when the dust settles,
Colts will win the South 16-0
Chargers win the West 13-3
Patriots win the East 10-6
Bengals win the North 11-5
That leaves
Broncos 9-7
Ravens 9-7
Texans 9-7
Steelers 9-7
Titans 8-8
Jags 8-8
Dolphins 7-9
Jets 7-9
Meaning (if I have the tie breakers right), Ravens and Broncos go in as wildcards.
But if KC can upset Denver, Houston should be in!

Hard to say, I think they start the game trying 100%, out of professionalism, job security, and pride. But if their team gets behind, they are more likely to quit and just get it over with. In the next two weekends, about the only teams out of it in the AFC chase are the Chiefs, Browns, and Seabirds.
Okay, so this is more anecdotal than anything else, but it always *seemed* that Favre struggled in national TV games late in his GB career.

I think that's what the Indy Colts did last year, took it easy for the last couple of games and then lost to San Diego in the AFC playoffs first game.
In fact the last time Indy lost was in the AFC playoffs last year after it was already determined that the MVP was Manning who was also voted to the pro bowl and then they got beat by San Diego and remember Rivers was not voted to the pro bowl.
Same this year it's all about the undefeated Colts and how good Manning is, but in fact there is a good chance that the same thing will happen to Indy again this year on the way to the Super Bowl and get beat by the San Diego Chargers in the playoff AFC title game.

I changed a few of them mostly Texans and Ravens, but I don't know what that comes out to for the playoffs.

Yeah, I don't blame them. I don't know if pulling starters is the way to go. Sure, you minimize the chance they can get injured, but that seems to be offset by breaking their rhythm. Plus, to go for an undefeated season, that's an awesome goal. Sure, if you take a loss in the regular season, well, that happens, but to lay down and let the game go up in smoke... wow.

Argh, damn Bengals. I hope the Jets bust them wide open again next week. If the Raiders could have scored 9 more points or the Bengals has shown up and won, Texans would be in, cuz the Broncos did a complete collapse. I suspect the Colts and the Saints are laying low awaiting the playoffs. In short, rest your first line guys if you can. At least this is how I would run my club if I were in that situation. In all reality, getting to the big show negates any last game losses. Getting to the big show and winning is what it is all about. If you take a few remaining games in the shorts to save your good players from possible injury then I call that smart money.
I put my money on the Saints. I believe the Ravens will be done next week. Flacco is not of the same league as others her will be playing against. Remember, this is only his second year at the helm. Although a good quarterback with good situational awarness, the others who are in the playoffs proper are much more seasoned.

A lot of good defensive teams have won the superbowl without having a top rated quarterback, Tampa Bay for instance. I'd even go as far as suggest New England with Tom Brady the year previously.
Everything changes in the playoffs, just ask the Cowboys and Pats fans. Both looked like winning in recent years and neither have.
Speaking of the Pats, they're banged up at the moment a bit aren't they? The Ravens are certainly going to test them, so if the Pats are going to win they'll need to play at their best to beat them.
Why do I think the Ravens will take the lot? They're a great defensive team period and I think they have someting to prove. They have had a bad season by their standards and I think they'll be very strong in the playoffs as a result.

I like your optimisim! I would love to see the Ravens go all the way. Defense has been the Ravens bread and butter for a long time. Ray Lewis is the back bone of the defense squad and does fire them up to crush skulls. The seats I see the game are right by the locker room tunnel were the flame pots and smoke are made. Ray comes flying out like a mad man. It is really cool actually. But, as I stated, penalties kill them. If they can stay away from penalties then there is a fighting chance. Even if we do not make it I'm still please with the season because the Steelers are done.....:yeah: I love the Ravens and any other team that is playing against the Steelers. :D Flacco is cool under pressure but for some reason he seem unsure as of late. Just something I noticed. I could be imagining it also. I hang my hat on the likes of Reed, Rice, McGhee, well...the whole lot of them!

He secretly placed a Steelers Christmas ball on his tree. :har: Man, is that funny or what? My bosses wife got pissed. :har: It was hanging right by the Ravens Christmas ball. :haha:

If Flacco was 100% healthy or just plain better the Ravens would be the team to beat, but I cannot see them winning the superbowl being that one dimensional.

Sure you can!
I love watching Brady sulk. Next to the Steelers the Patriots are my next most hated team. Now, if the Ravens can stop the penalties they have the potential to go to the big show. Today was a perfect example. Penalty free day=win! Now, it was obvious that Baltimore reviewed the patriot play tapes last week. It paid off. This week they watch more play tapes.

I was pleased they did not roll over in the second half. That should bode well for them going forward. As much as it sucks now, there is always next year to look forward to.
Massive win for the Ravens, I was not surprised as they are on the upswing. Should be interesting when they play the Colts, they will be in tough, but it's one game & anything can happen.

Manning is a great QB. Very hard to beat and he runs his own squad. If they are at the opposing teams stadium the fans can scream as loud as they like attempting to screw up the hike of the ball. It does no good. Manning uses hand signals. He just has a good squad. Our regular season game was close however. 17-15 I believe. Flacco is not up to snuff with what looks to be a hip and ankle issue. The throwing game with the Pats was not there. Fortunate for the Ravens Ray Rice is small and runs under everybody getting lost in the crowd with the ball. When the whistle blows everyone finds he has gotten yet another first down. The Colts will know this and be looking for Rice. Other than that if the defense pressures Manning like they did Brady they might be able to pull it off.
Onkel Neal
01-11-10, 10:12 AM
Second time this week I've seen the blind side blitz decide the game. First in the Texas-Bama game, now in the Packers-Redbirds game. That's a powerful weapon if it's not used until a crucial situation.

Yeah the Jennings overthrow hurt :yep:
Good question regarding the above play. I am not sure? If it was called, I am thinking the Cards still keep the ball ( ball is stripped first, then the face mask ), but are moved back 15 yards because of the penalty. Which still puts them within FG range with a fresh set of downs to get even closer.

That is why pressure needs to be applied. You will note that the Ravens defense knew the plays of the Patriots. The tapes were studied well in advance concerning formations and what was coming. For a better part of the game the defense was ready for Brady and what was coming. Brady was offered quite a bit of time on a few plays. His players kept dropping the ball. They had plenty of opportunity to score and did not. It was a nail biter with the Colts in the regular season. This time I expect a nail biter. I hope the Ravens will be on top when the grass settles after 60 minutes.
Once again the Ravens will have to depend on the entire defensive staff and one short stocky guy by the name of Ray Rice. :D

Congradulations Saints fans! Great game. When I witnessed the off sides kick I knew the Saints were there to win it. It was a great game! I'm very happy to witness the Saints first Super Bowl and first Super Bowl victory.

IMO that was the turning point for the Saints. I really didn't know if the Saints could pull it out, much less win with a lead like that.
