PC specs required to run supermods GWX3 and WAC4.0

The GWX team has always kept the specs required to run SHIII 1.4 well in mind while building their mod. So, if you can run SHIII 1.4 well, you can run GWX 3.0.

Well I can tell you that my machine is quite old and still runs GWX just fine. Here are my specs:

CPU: Athlon FX-55 @ 2.6Ghz (Socket 939, Single Core)
GPU: ATI X800 XT (AGP, 256Mb)
RAM: 2Gb DDR-400 (PC-3200)

I run GWX with all the extras and some AA and AF and the framerate mostly stays over 40 and never drops below 20.

I once tried the full version of WAC and it instantly brought my machine to its knees (single digit framerates even when not a lot was happening). There is a "lite" version of WAC but I never tried it.

Thanks for the reply OLC and others, I have to admit that I have only installed SH3 for the first time last week so I don't really know if my PC will cope with the original version. My system has:
CPU - Athlon 64 2800? + socket 754 (1.6GHz)
RAM - DDR-400 (768MB)
VIDEO - NVIDIA FX5200 (AGP, 128MB)

The game seems to load up ok but at this stage I have only tried a couple of training missions. I have had a look to see if I can upgrade my CPU and RAM but by the looks the max CPU with socket 754 for my Motherboard runs at 2.2GHz and the max ram (DDR-400) for my motherboard is 2 GIG (and that DDR-400 is really expensive). While I haven't checked out any prices I expect I would be better/cheaper to just get a whole new system.

To be honest I can only really expect to be able to play the game for 3-4 hours a week at this stage so I suppose it would take me about 40+ years to complete if I survive the entire duration of the war. Due to the limited amount of time I can play this subsim do you think that running stock SH3 and maybe SH3Commander will enhance my SH3 experience?.

Finally, I don't really enjoy the english voices in the stock version of SH3 but I do not understand german. Is there a mod for english voices in a german accent?. :hmmm: (not asking for too much am I )

I tried GWX w/ some other added mods on a fairly new laptop HP pavilion
- no problem
but i tried also in an old PC i had:
Celeron 2.4 GHz, Ram 1,25Gb (DDR 333), ATi Radeon 9250 Pro 256Mb

And before was with just RAM 512, when i found it, and stock SH3 just Couldnt start,
tried evrything and wouldnt start, so a little thing i found, that is:

I went to System properties of My PC
on advanced options I clicked Permormance - Settings
then advanced options and the last item "Virtual memory"
there was a specific number of RAM memory assigned for each HD
I just clicked on "Admin by system" in both HD,
and voila! I got SH3

Dunno if its correct, I just left it that way
when I added more RAM (1,25Gb in all)
added GWX and works fine :yep:
