I know I am going to be shot for this, but:
I have RFB, and I love it! But, I am very hit or miss with manual targeting. Nothing more frustrating than having an off day in real life and having an off day in SH4! I just want thins to go boom!
Is there any way to turn the sonar leads and (gasp) map contacts on so I can practice getting my aiming down?

No, you're not going to get flamed around here. Argued with, a little, but not attacked (well, not usually).
RFB turns those things off? You can't turn them on in the Options at the beginning of a career? I'm not at my computer, so I can't look for myself, but I've played RFB and don't remember not having those. Could just be my old memory having fun with me.
If not, it is definitely possible to edit those to work. Again, I can't look myself, but don't worry - help will arrive shortly. Around here it always does.:shucks:

Thanks for the welcome! I have been playing SH3 and 4 for a while now, and I love it! Downloaded RFB a few weeks ago, and I love the improvements.
I am getting used to some of the changes, but it has increased the patrol fun significantly!
I guess another issues I have been having is that I tried to 'fix' the speed of the deck gun reloads. I think they are far to slow in RFB. I have loaded an 88 mm shell my self and while it takes longer after loading a few (:o HEAVY :o), I could load it much faster than 13 seconds. I tried to use the Silent 3editor to "fix" it, changing the files so the reload times are faster in the main game, as well as RFB. Am I missing something?

We've been discussing the deck gun reload times for years, ever since Beery created the original RUB (Real U-Boat) mod for SH3. The most recent debate (and one of the more civilized) is here:

I am sure that the discussion where very in-depth, and the RF times are a good average under real world conditions, but I want it faster! :wah:
Could someone point me to the right files? I looked up every deck gun i could and checked the reload times. I am missing another file?

try my "Webster's Upgraded Deck Gun for v1.5" and see the changes i made in it. it should show you what your missing :up:

I did, hoping it would run it. Seems that none of it is working. I unloaded all my mods, and tried your alone. No dice. Tried to over write the main files in the data/library/ussub . . . no dice. Tried to use '3editor to change the files, no dice.
Grr. I think that I will unload and reload subhunter, see if that fixes it. Somewhere there is a file telling the computer to use the usual reload times. I just can't find the f'er. :damn:
Off for more tests.
Oh, I tired new careers, training missions and saved games, trying to see if that would shake the changes loose. Again, no dice.
Any ideas?
