I recently added surround sound to my computer and now several sounds don't seem to be working ,battle stations, crash dive, and some others I can't recall right now.(I'm at work right now so my decription of the problem is going to suck!)I changed nothing within the game, only added 5.1 speakers and a surround sound amp.I am running RFB and I added Websters sound fix to see if that had any effect on it,to no avail! :damn: I thought I read a post about this issue awhile back but I couldn't find it,any advice on this would be greatly appreciated as it is a real immersion killer.BTW I don't have a sound card installed,i'm just running off the board.I also dumped and deleted everything and started with a fresh install but that didn't help either.I've never had any of the sound problems I've been reading about until now,so I feel confident it's the surround sound aspect and not something else.Any ideas? Thanks Jeff:o

Is your board 5.1 capable? If so, then you need to set your sound program up to 5.1 sound. Mine works and I use the mobo board sound as well.

Thanks for the quick reply Warhawk! I know it supports 5.1 and it seems to work with other games but I will check that out as soon as I get home ,it sounds like a very good place to start!:rock:thanks Jeff

Come to think of it I believe I had to set my speakers up to simulate surround sound for SH4 :hmmm:. Hmmmm....see what you can do with our sound program.

Wow! we have a sound program?Pardon my ignorance, but where does one find said program? It sounds like that's exactly what I need to make this happen. Thanks again for your help in this matter. So far every problem that can be solved, has been solved by all the good people on these forums. Before I found this place I was just a babe in the woods so to speak. Now I'm a babe in the woods with a map and a compass!:rotfl:

What I mean by sound program I mean a program like Realtek that is part of your mobo. Mine for instance can simulate surround sound eventhough the media is not produced in surround sound. You have to find your sound program usually found in your CONTROL panel in Windows. See what you can do to get all your speakers working for SH4.

Thanks again Warhawk, I got all excited thinking you had an ace up your sleeve! I should have realised you would have told me where to find it in your previous post if it existed.LOL! I wish I was home right now to look into it,but I'm sure you have me on the right track!I will let you know what I find out this evening. Jeff

Surround sound working much better now, it was the way I had it hooked up!I just had stereo hooked up and was letting the amp decode the rest. That worked just fine for Doom 3 not so for SH4.I went and bought the cables I needed, hooked it up and all missing voices came back. The problem I have now is almost no base ,the subwoofer isn't really doing anything during gameplay, during the opening screen for RFB I get plenty of base just not during the game.I think it's probably just some adjusting from here on.thanks for setting me on the right track Warhawk, the problem kept me from playing for a little while, good to be back at it!:arrgh!:

Normally you can control bass two ways, the program itself and also on the bass box itself should be an actual knob to turn increasing or decreasing the base.

Excellent! I learned there are several ways to adjust the base. I can even adjust the subwoofer level from the amp so a little more fiddling one way or another should fix it .I'll let you know what happens this evening after work.BTW battle stations is very impressive in surround, I didn't realize how high the volume level was set ,I thought the bells of St.Mary were going to break the window!:oLOL Jeff
