Moin moin,

since this is my first post, a short introduction of myself:
my internet name is "sflo", I like flight sims and U-Boat
sims. My first U-Boat sim I played was "Gato", way back in the
80ies (something with 300x200 pixel B&W resolution).

I installed SHIII some weeks ago with GWX 3 Gold, and
had a lot,lot,lot of fun :)

Many thanks to the GWX creators !!!
... and also to other fantastic modders (LifeBoat-Debris,
etc. etc. etc).

The only thing I was a bit unhappy with was the "GWX water
at higher wind speeds".

I got a lot of good info and hints in this forum,
and also tried some water mods, but basically I took the
advice: "if it is not there, do it yourself".

So here is a small water-mod for GWX 3, which "I" realy
like and whichs gives "me" the "right feeling". And since I downloaded
so much from this community, I think it is fair to share the
results with you.

I know that waves influence sinking of ships, escort
behaviour, etc, but so far I realy enjoied it, and
you may want to giveit a try.

This mod is ONLY (!!!!) for : "GWX3_16km_Atmosphere"
So you can put this on top on your "GWX3_16km_Atmosphere"
installation, but not the GWX 3 stock.

I can also modify the scene.dat of the GWX 3 stock (next
week-end) if you like - or just do it by your own, all
changes I made are listed in the mods read-me).

Some notes:
I did also a (moderate) "Lod" and "patches" increase, so a bit
more CPU/GPU demanding. The "polygon" effects may
show, something I can live with, since I got "the right
feel of waves". Some foam tga files also included.

Well, waves are a matter oft "taste", so dont kill me if
you donīt like it. Since JSGME makes installing and de-installing
mods realy easy, nothing to loose here, only to win if
you like it.

So, thatīs it. Good hunting,

Best wishes,
sflo

Yeah, great start sflo! :salute:

Can you please explain a bit more about what this mod does exactly? I gather you changed the waves but it's not clear to me what the aim was. Any chance of some screens?

Some photos should be necessary before enable this mod.
Is it compatible with 20km atmosphere?

Just as it says, happy water.. :) Maybe, a little too "dull" when you look to the horizon, but ok..
If you don't like big waves and rocking of the boat and you want it easy..

Cool

Moin moin,

-snip- My first U-Boat sim I played was "Gato", way back in the
80ies (something with 300x200 pixel B&W resolution).

- snip -

Oh dear, GATO...

Gato was my very first PC experience ever. Back in the 80'ies, there was a party hosted by a girl. Her father was an IBM employee and there was portable PC in the size of trunk around. Soon all guys are gathered around this gem, but noone has any clue what to do with it. Hours later we managed to lauch a game apparently gato... *sigh*

oh and welcome aboard

cheers
