I have been able to tweak my game so that i can go 50 odd knots surfaced, but can anyone tell me how to tweak my game to be able to go that speed underwater without the snorkel? Thanks in advance.

You can use TimeTraveler's "SH3 Inspector" to do that and of the many ways, it is the easiest to use. However, you can't effectively go that fast underwater because the boat will porpoise up & down. Going up to the surface isn't that bad (except near destroyers) but down to the bottom can really hurt! Still, 25 knots or more is do-able without porpoising.
You can find "SH3 Inspector" here:

Hi Bob,
I've just downloaded all your zip files for tweaking and since I'm a rank amateur, I have a question. How do I tweak my weapons in SH3? For instance, I'd like to beef up my deck and AA guns to make a 'super gun' mod like I have in SH4.
Any suggestions and assistance would be greatly appreciated. :)
Thanks.

You will need to download the Mini-Tweaker (2 files) if you haven't already done so. The .txt files can be put anywhere you want them to be. There is a 'Load Tweek File' button that you can use to browse to where they are stored. That is also how you load the .txt file that allows you to edit the associated game file.
With the Mini-tweaker load the .txt file called 'shells_zon.txt' and use the drop-down box to find the '88mm_HE_shell'.
MinEF = the minimum damage - try 20 here
MaxEF = the maximum damage - try 50 here
MinRadius = the smallest hole - try 1 here
Max radious = the largest hole - try 3 here
You can do the same for the 88mm AP shells too.
Load the .txt file called 'Guns_sub_sim.txt' in mini-tweaker
use the drop down box to find the gun called '88mm_UDeck_Gun_High_Body' (the gun called '88mm_UDeck_Gun_High_Body (105)' is the 10.5mm for the type 9 boats).
The 'speed traverse' setting is the speed the deck gun turns - try 40 here.
The 'speed elevation' setting is the speed the deck gun elevates - try 20 here.
The 'shell_speed' setting affects the time to target - try 1000 here.
The 'recoil_time' is the time between shots if there is more than one shell in a clip - try a 1 here.
The 'clip_size' setting is the number of shells that are loaded = try a 10 here.
The 'reload_time' setting is the time to load a clip - try a 4 here.
The 'range' setting is the maximum range you are allowed to fire. I put mine to 5000, so that when the crew is on automatic they don't waste ammo on long range shots.
The flack guns and their shells work the same way. However, a word of caution about the 20mm shells. Yes, you can beef them up to hit harder. However, 'shells_sim' is a global file. If you make a 20mm shell hit like a 88mm shell just remember that the enemy uses them too!!!
Have fun,
Bob

Sorry, Navelintel.

Not at all Anvart! I wasn't paying attention to your salutation. My apology for butting in. Good tip just the same.
