When I was messing with the rockets fix mod I noticed again an old issue that intrigues me related to airplanes&bombs that I should like to confirm with you guys before put my hands on.

I always noticed that sometimes the planes just donīt delivers its bombs and that when itīs finally delivery them, they behaviour like novice pilots, with a bad aim, frequently the bombs hit the water a bit far way your uboat. I also notice the time to deliver or even the aim is sometimes just accidental when you are driving your boat like crazy trying to avoid the bomb, then they accidently hit your sub.

If the above scenario (not always delivering bombs and bad aim) are really not only on my installation i guess that i found a way to make them very more precise then.

The final idea is to have a scenario where the planes delivers the bombs ASAP with a major percent of direct (or really very near) hits.

Yesterday after some tests I noticed that the frequency of delivery is direct linked to the minhigh of the planes and that the aim precison is direct linked to the maxvelocity. That said, see the tab below:

minhigh/delivers (for the same max velocity) from a max of 5+
45 /+++++
55 /+++++
75 /+++
100 /++

maxvelocity/precise hits (for the same minhigh), from a max of 5+
120/ ++++
180 /+++
220 /++
260&above /_ (just accidentaly)
(itīs really impossible to mount a simple table on the forum posts, no?:damn:)

Notice that in game the combination of 100 minhigh with velocity above 260 is very frequent===> so, refuse to deliver with bad aim!

By the way, come to my mind that sometime ago we here in the community thinked that the problem with not delivering bombs was just related to the rank of the airplane crew, but now I guess that this is just one more factor on a hidden formula used by the devs to the bombing issue.

Isnīt necessary to say that after few tests using the above adjusts the planes becomes REALLY dangerous (even the rockets have more direct hits now)

The downside of all this is that is necessary to lower the maxvelocity (as exposed) of the planes between 120 to 190 Miles per hour...but in truth isnīt much noticiable in game. Also is necessary to adjust a bit the propulsion to maintain plane stability in low altitudes manouvers.

In SH3/GWX the planes have minhigh between 55-100, so for big plane we could set to 75 and the medium/small to 50.
That is it.

So what is your opinion...do you think that this is a good/necessary mod or not? Let we know your experience about this issue.:up:

Most actual real-life bombing/depth-charge runs... missed the target. For every sinking, there was a disproportionate number of failed attacks.

Also, the entire ordnance load was not always dropped in one pass.

I do think that it may be good to increase the accurace of bombing runs in GWX, but I think it should be done in a smaller way than what you suggest.

Not every bombing attack should be guaranteed to be successful.

I agree with Kpt.Lemon. After all, uboat is relatively small target to hit. :hmmm:

Yeah...aircraft are hard enough to shoot down...now add to that an increased level of bombing accuracy. :o

Me thinks it might be time to take to the skies with IL2...much safer :DL

The settings above don't make them uber accured, just raise the percent of near hits and makes them deliver the bombs more frequently (not always all the payload). But I also have doubts about this mod necessity and is good to know that the way this stuff is now on GWX is already good. Let's left the above info for our community knowledge and let's play the game then!:up:
