I am still having many problems running WAC without CTD at the load up screen, despite great help form Hansolo.
I have fully installed via jsgme many times, and read right through the thread for WAC 3.0, tried everything people have suggested, but no change.
My system is vista 32, nvidea 7900 GS graphics, 2.4 GZ twin core processor and 3gb RAM.
All other variants play fine, ie GWX 3.0, MEG, U Boat 1.2, with multi SH3 installed for saved games.
Does anyone have any further ideas on what else I can try?
:damn:
What Windows language you're running? In WAC there are several filenames with German ü. SH3 opens these files not in all language versions of Windows. Ah, those problems with internationalization...
You can try solution (http://files.filefront.com/Correction+WAC30+Finalrar/;10921889;/fileinfo.html) from Russian forum. Maybe it will help...
Just install this with JSGME after WAC.
P.S.: If you want, you can remove Russian font (data\Menu\Fonts\FPCond18.tga) from this fix ;).

Many thanks- I appreciate someone trying to help!
I am running English Vista language (as I am English!), and Hansolo suggested that I run the game in German from the settings, but it still crashed.
I will try this add on and do a fresh install (yet again- I am now the world record holder in SH3 installs), and will get back to you with how it goes.
Do you know how this mod actually changes the game?
I have had this problem for the last 9 months and still dont have it sorted out yet, which is crazy.
Thanks

the suggestion that Krabb said is no solving the problem.
i have located that the problem is hiding inside the Campaign_LND file.
i know that becuase if you run the game using the Campaign_LND of BLANK CAMPAIGN MOD(that one for testing purposes) the careers are loading without problem.
so , i am conviced , that the solution is somewhere inside Campaign_LND file.
BUT i have no idea about these files.someone who is experience to these files may have a look and manage to sort it out

Thanks makman, way outside my field of expertise, but how come some people seem to be able to run it without any problems I wonder?
Wish I was one of them!

If you're about Correction_WAC3.0_Final, there are changed filenames only, as I remember. Can't say exactly, I don't have original WAC. Fixed it and repacked for myself.

I tried the correction, after a new install and the game started in a campaign, got about half way out of Lorient, and...... you guessed it CTD AGAIN.
My hair wont last much longer now- sinking into the depths....

Are you running it under compatibility mode?
I don't have any problems running SH3 on vista...so...hmmm...
But, the things I do to get most older games to work (and some programs as well) is to do the following.
Under the Compatibility tab in the right click properties menu, do this:
-Run under XP
-Disable Visual themes
-Disable Desktop composition
-Disable display scaling
-Run as administrator
Do those 5 things and see if that helps. :salute:

Hi guys!
So.. actually it seems that Makman and me figured out the problem.
It really seems to be the language with these german letters which cuase crahes to desktop.
For Makman it has been the lnd_layer which contains german letters of the 2 german bridges and the windmill. He deleted these in the corresponding files and it works now for him.
With this new information I will have a look over the 3.0 files and make a 3.1 version out of it containing the bug fix and the fix for the language problem letters.
greetings
Han
Thanks Han! Your work is awesome!
Will wait for this bug fix and, most of all, WAC 4.0 release:yep:.

Hello Han
After all this time, thanks to Makman and yourself- I am sure I will eventually enjoy the game, and will also run the 4.0 version once sorted out, and report back!
Look forward to those new files.
