Back and a little lost...

:salute: Hope someone can help me here. Some time ago (think 1-2 years) I frequently visited this forum and played SHIII with GWX a lot. Unfortunately the game lost my interest but after a while I intend to pick it up again after watching some u-boot movies.

The problem is: I'm a little lost. I'm reading about GWX 3, major improvements in SHIV, etc. etc. Also I can't find a proper oversight of the current mods. My questions are:
should I return to SHIII or purchase a SHIV copy? if I return to SHIII which mods should I install at least?

In my opinion, SH3 remains fantastic fun especially due to the tireless efforts of our modders, however the advances in reality come at a cost to your PC, and to really enjoy the latest mods, you may need to have uprated your machine to a higher spec.
This done, we have GWX 3.0 OLC Gold to modify it further, and then there is War Ace Campaign, slightly different, but still great fun, with other superb Graphics updates such as GUI omongst others.

I think the general consensus is that SH3 is still the game of choice (?) thanks to the great mods available for it, but it's only a matter of time before the SH4 modders change that. The GWX team are working on GWX4 which is basically GWX for SH4, but that is going to take quite some time I think (several months at least, development only started recently and we've not even seen any previews yet) so for now SH3 + GWX Gold is probably the way to go. Actually I have to agree with robby that OLC 'Gold' is also a must-have!!

Why not consider the best of both worlds....download GWX3.0, it's free and purchase SH4 because your going to need it to play GWX4 anyway http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

Thanks a lot! I installed the whole thing, gwx3, olc's gui, shIII commander and LRT. This is going to be fun :up:
Maybe when gwx4 is released I'll try shIV, but until then this must be enough to have some very short nights of sleep.... :zzz:
