is there a way of controlling the bow to stern floating angle of how subs sit in the water ?
what im trying to do is lower the stern only yet keep the overall draft height and bow where they are, can you transfer weight to the stern or lower just its floatability factor?
to better understand what im going for, i want to lower the stern about half a meter to get the painted waterline to be level with the waterline along its full length.
in the game the subs sit with the deck pretty level but in pictures the subs sit with the bow having more of an upward slant and the stern lower so i want to replicate that.

Yup - in the units .SIM file; Unitsubmarine - Obj_hydro - fr_ratio. Using S3D - SKWAS comment for this value, is, in my experience, the wrong way around. Default for units is 0.5. Reducing it shifts balance to the rear - to check this out just change it to 0.25 or 0.75 and your unit will either be very down at the bow or stern.
Hope this helps.
Have the hole crew go to the stern!!!>>..:har:

great, i love simple solutions lol
i was afraid it would involve a whole mess of zones changes :D

well something else is going on with these subs because the balao, gato, and tambor subs will not change no matter what you do to the Obj_hydro - fr_ratio
must be a broken link between the Obj_hydro - fr_ratio because it acts like its not using that number.
all the other subs and the sen toku will change when you adjust the Obj_hydro - fr_ratio value.
the balao, gato, and tambor subs are the main ones i wanted to change :damn: :damn: :damn: and they will not move
i dont suppose you know how to check the file associations there?

I changed the sim file on the balao to .95 and the stern is underwater.

oook, lemme dump files and start fresh

ok, the replaced files work now but, hmmm ....
to get the right level i had to use 0.875 and thats enough to make the other subs sit at 45 degree angle in the water so now the more important question.
whats this going to do to the sinking from flooding or rough waether operations?

Did you change the verticle gc too?

no not at all but the center of gravity is different that the front to rear weight ratio
the concern i have is if this is a true balance point (you never know with this game lol) then when you add a little water to the boat from flooding you might spear into the bottom out of control?
so going from a stock setting of 0.5 to a 0.55 or a 0.65 isnt that bad but im going 0.9 for balao and 0.89 for gato and the tambor at 0.88

Wow. What if you lowered the boat 1/4 to 1/2 a meter draught wise. would that get a lower number to work for the gc?
When I tested it with one of my mods I had the Balao at 6.4 meters in the sim file for surface draught and the submerge draught down to 8.4. Changing horizontal to .75 put the stern down just a bit.

its tricky but i dont think changing the balance point is the answer because you change all the floating charactoristics and the subs reaction to sea state with it.
the minute you add any extra weight somewhere such as a flooding situation you get the sub acting like it has half the boat flooded.
i think this will have to be solved another way by tweaking the floatation spheres or whatever it is they use in the damage models to add or remove floatation levels and not by changing the float center which acts like you would be adding a ton of weight to one end of the boat. sadly i dont know how to do things like that.:06:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Webster buddy I told you, have the crew run back and forth........

sounds like a plan to me :har:
i think the devs stick the floatation spheres on the boat in a straight horizontal line and never noticed (or cared) that the subs are supposed to slant up at the bow.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Hey Webster maybe a couple of these will help the ballast problem....
