Anyone knows what lines to edit to increase repair time to more realistic times, I know there are mods out there, but they conflict with what I am using.

Any help in this would be great !!

Hi Sharkley,
The repair time is increased in the data\cfg\Basic.cfg file.

This is the GWX 3.0 settings.

[COMPARTMENT]
NumberOfCrew0=15
Interval1_0=7.1
Interval2_0=9.6
Interval3_0=19.7

NumberOfCrew1=6
Interval1_1=3.0
Interval2_1=4.1
Interval3_1=8.5

NumberOfCrew2=9
Interval1_2=4.6
Interval2_2=6
Interval3_2=12.1

.............. and so on.

And here is Longer repair times settings.

[COMPARTMENT]
NumberOfCrew0=15
Interval1_0=7.1
Interval2_0=9.6
Interval3_0=4000

NumberOfCrew1=6
Interval1_1=3.0
Interval2_1=4.1
Interval3_1=4000

NumberOfCrew2=9
Interval1_2=4.6
Interval2_2=6
Interval3_2=4000

.............. and so on.

The Interval3_x is the setting that increases repair times for each compartment.

Thanks so much. :salute:

I see what your saying, does anything else need to be changed or just replace (value) with 4000 ?

Also, does crew type effect repair times (bertter crew = shorter repair time)

I would love to use LRT v2.02 but in conflicts with other mods

I am trying to create a detailed damage model so any furthe rhelp would be great.

I am trying to create a detailed damage model so any further help would be great.It's one of my future projects when I've completed the current mod in progress.

I've not experimented with values less than 4000, but this is perhaps what LLRT does to giver lesser repair times.

Crew type\skill effect repair times tremendously. (Its a long time I did the experiments)
1.Having an Officer in the repair slot with repair qualifications halves the repair time.
2.Petty Officers with repair qualifications in repair slot reduce the time much more than non skilled.
3.Unskilled crew reduce the repair time at the same rate whether they are in the repair slot OR focused compartment.
4.Having Petty Officers with that compartment skill reduces number required in that compartment to run it, so freeing more crew to repairs.
5.Keeping repair crew fatigue low as possible greatly reduces repair times, rotation is important.
6.When you find a safe place for repairs, use all spare crew including engine room staff and have them packed into repair slot and focused compartment while others rest, then rotate them.
7.I don't know if it is modelled in the sim, but for reality I aways have my best crew first and repair the main pump (priority), you need it to get rid of the floodwater. I do find it an annoying quark in the sim when it is repaired last in that compartment.

I have used the above tactics in some very tricky situations and owe my survival to them. You will find repair times are significantly reduced under LRT, the fatigue model I use designed specifically for LRT, leave my crew totally drained and it takes a week before my crew are fully operational.

The LRT mod is 2 mods in one, longer repairs and depth charge shake. There are numerous tweaks to hull damage, flood times, etc to achieve a "Das Boot" effect and try to avoid the "Instant Death". Adding just part of the mod would lose these effects.

I have run with the majority of mods out there with LRT of course and find that if merged correctly no problems arise.

NvDrifters LRT is a mod I find indispensable and will continue to use and improve to suit my idea of reality on a uboat.

Hope this helps.

That is my problem, I guess I am unsure on how to merge it.

I use GWX 3.0 & OLC Gold with OLC Enhanced Damage effects

What reapair would you use and how would you install it to ensure it performs as it should with no conflicts.

What repair would you use and how would you install it to ensure it performs as it should with no conflicts. The answer to the 1st question is easy - I only use the full LRT.

The answer to the 2nd question.
To do the merge myself wouldn't take too long - but requires your full list of mods that will be used.
To try and explain each step on a forum would be difficult and time consuming. You could drop me a line in the box and I'll go through it with you.
There's so many different mod combinations that merging them to suit everyone is impossible. Some months ago I offered to do a tutorial to give people the "tools" to do it themselves but response was poor, so I wasn't willing to do all that work for nothing.

Been reading up on the LRT mod and starting to grasp merging fiels to get things to work. As mods go what I listed is what I use for the tiem being.

I would be very happy to use only the following mods as this covers all I need/want from SH3.

GWX 3.0 Gold
OLC Gold
CLAssemblage2(GraphicPack)
LRT v2.02

If you would be willing to work with me I can send any info you wish.

If you would be willing to work with me I can send any info you wish. Certainly.
Have just downloaded CLAssemblage2.
You definitely "upped the anti" with that one.

Have now got all into the Mods folder ready for merging.
Make sure your current patrol is in port, SH3Commander has done a roll-back then uninstall any JSGME mods. If you used JSGME to install your Cmdr GWX update then leave that enabled.

The merge will be tackled in stages, OLC to CLAssemblage2 then to LRT.
We will first install OLC's mod as this alters the menu.ini considerably and so will be used as the major mod. Then CLAssemblage2 will be installed and a note made of all JSGME reported conflictions.

http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/1373/merge1w.jpg

This should be what is in your Mods folder (You may have the 2 mods CDR - xxxxx already installed.) I have left out other unnecessary mods to avoid confusion. The NOT - CLAssemblage2-Optional is all the additional mods in case you want them, they aren't JSGME ready thats why they start with NOT.

Let me know when your ready.

I'll get started with this tonight.

I am looking forward to this little adventure and I am very thankful you are willing to take your time to help me.

What time zone are you in I am EST

badwolf
04-13-09, 02:22 PM
I have looked at CLAssemblage2 readme and the first mod part:-

1. More authentic water made by Brasilian modder Philipp_Thompsen. This mod is based on OLCE2 (16 km) Mod by Onelifecrisis. We have made water look darker than on previous versions.

- will of course conflict in a lot of areas. You will have to decide which version you want. If you decide on Philipp_Thompsen's version and other CLAssemblage2 enviroment changes then you could install just the OLC GUI special part.

Time zone GMT, but I did shiftwork, so I sleep when I'm tired, sometimes 10.00 in the morning after a load of key punching.

I'm always willing to assist wherever I can in your mod merger, the skills and little tricks you learn will be invaluable. Don't forget winmerge will look at many different types of files even tga's, it might not make sense but it highlights the areas that are different and reports same if the 2 files are equal.

Sharkley
04-13-09, 02:31 PM
Philipp_Thompsen's version it is then.

What ever you think works better will suit me just fine, I am sure I will get a deeper understanding of merging mods while we work though this together.

badwolf
04-13-09, 03:24 PM
Do what you would like to see. But I think it will make merging easier if you decide to use OLC's OR CLAssemblage2 enviroment graphics, you can always tweak them later to get the desired effect. If you decide CLAssemblage2, then drop the OLC Gold and use the latest Ubermod where the GUI is a seperate installation (I've got OLC_Ubermod_241) then just merge in the GUI part.
OLC did a lot of tweaks to reflections etc and so mixing the mods may have adverse graphical effects.

I have used OLC GUI Special out of Ubermod_241 and the conflictions with CLAssemblage2 are greatly reduced to:-

"Commands_en.cfg" has already been altered by the "MOD - OLC GUI Special" mod.
"Cameras.dat" has already been altered by the "MOD - OLC GUI Special" mod.

Just 2 files conflicted.

Also LRT already has an additional mod to make it compatable with OLC special GUI, it will need checking to see if it's up to date.

Sharkley
04-13-09, 03:39 PM
I just want the OLC gui, that is the part I like for "eye candy" I like CLAssemblage2 but I don't really care that much.

So if something has to go I would lose the eye candy.

So lets try

GWX 3.0
OLC Gold
Enhanced damage for OLG
LRT v2.02

This would be a great start, as time goes on and I get better then I may tweak it a bit to add some candy.

badwolf
04-13-09, 03:48 PM
I'll compromise.
Seeing that there shouldn't be too many difficulties with either, lets do both and then you can decide on trials which you prefer. I'll knock up the CLAssemblage2 version and you work on the OLC Gold version (I will assist). The OLC "special" gui will be in both versions. After that I'll do a CLAssemblage2, ACM v1.1.0 and LRT version for myself, so I can try out these graphics!

Sharkley
04-13-09, 05:23 PM
Ok, so I am starting.

Only mods installed (besides GWX 3.0)

OLC Gold
Enhanced Damage Effects for OLC Gold

try to install

LRT v2.02 FInal with SRM

Get the following

"Zones.cfg" has already been altered by the "Enhanced Damage Effects for OLC 'Gold'" mod.
"Cameras.dat" has already been altered by the "OLC 'Gold'" mod.
"particles.dsd" has already been altered by the "Enhanced Damage Effects for OLC 'Gold'" mod.
"de_menu.txt" has already been altered by the "OLC 'Gold'" mod.
"en_menu.txt" has already been altered by the "OLC 'Gold'" mod.
"menu_1024_768.ini" has already been altered by the "OLC 'Gold'" mod.

So here is my question.

In order ot "merge" two mods, is it as simple as comparing the (example) en-menu.txt for OLC Gold and en_menu.txt for LRT v2.02 and combining the differences to make one file to suit both mods?

badwolf
04-13-09, 08:30 PM
You have to do each mod comparison with the original GWX 3.0 file first and note the changes. If you compare mod against mod, you wouldn't know which of the two is the one to use or whether a compromise is required.

First do a complete uninstall of your JSGME mods.
Then in the "MODS" folder make a "new folder" and name it say "Merged Files".
We shall use OLC "Gold" as the master mod, so copy all the conflicting files from them as follows:-

From OLC "Gold"
"Cameras.dat"
"de_menu.txt"
"en_menu.txt"
"menu_1024_768.ini"

From Enhanced Damage Effects for OLC 'Gold'
"Zones.cfg"
"particles.dsd"

Place these in your newly created folder. Dont worry about putting them in the correct folder path yet.

We will start from your list bottom up. (bottom ones are the easiest)

In Winmerge load the GWX 3.0 "menu_1024_768.ini" then the LRT one, then open up the new folder "Merged Files\menu_1024_768.ini" in notepad.
In Winmerge go to the 1st difference and copy the address it should be [G67 I608] now in notepad - edit - paste it in [G67 I608] and look at the Font=5 same as GWX 3.0. You can now paste Font=14 in there, do the same for the next 2 differences. You have now merged the "menu_1024_768.ini" in the "Merged Files" folder.

This may seem long winded and unneccessary, but I assure you, it's the best way I have found up to yet.

Sharkley
04-13-09, 08:33 PM

badwolf
04-13-09, 09:46 PM
In Winmerge open up GWX 3.0 "en_menu.txt" and then the LRT one.
You will see quite a few changes, the ones that matter are the following:-

43=;hh/mm
551=1-2 Hours ;Light
552=2-4 Hours ;Moderate
553=4-8 Hours ;Serious
554=8-12 Hours ;Very Serious
555=12-16+ Hours ;Critical
557=1-8 Hours ;Damaged
558=8-16+ Hours ;Heavy Dmg
559=Unrepairable

The others are unimportant as regards LRT.

Using notebook.
Add these changes to "Merged Files\en_menu.txt"
Also do the same to "Merged Files\de_menu.txt"

Make sure whenever you edit that lines are fully expanded. i.e.

46=Submarine Type: %s|Departure Point : %s, heading %.0f°|Grid (Patrol Area) %s|Starting Base: %

Should be on one line, if you edit the same line as:-

46=Submarine Type: %s|Departure Point : %s, heading %.0f°
|Grid (Patrol Area) %s|Starting Base: %

After hitting save it could split the line into two and thus give you the wrong statement and could cause CTD's.

I always open any editing program to full screen before saving. Also unticking Word Wrap helps in keeping lines correct.

That's 3 out of 6 merged.

Here's what was done from v2.02 to v2.04.

What's new in this latest version of Longer Repair Times Mod v2.04:
-fixed a few small menu text errors
-made a slight adjustment to custom depth charge sound effects

What's new in version Longer Repair Times Mod v2.03:
-updated and merged all LRT files to be used with GWX 3.0 Gold
(please note: LRT v2.03 is fully compatible with Rubini's latest Life Boat mod v4.0. Please install Rubini's Life Boat mod FIRST, then LRT 2.03 Full second)

What's new in version Longer Repair Times Mod v2.02:
-put the original louder custom DC sound effects back in

If you want v2.04 I can upload it, doubt the original download will be available.

Here's where I read about SRM & GWX 3.0 (read from #131)
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=143577&page=7

Here's the download for LRT v2.04 (Tried Subsim, but it's not obvious how to upload and I'm short of time)
http://files.filefront.com/Longer+Repair+Times+204+ll7z/;13597925;/fileinfo.html

Using LRT v2.04 to merge will make it far easier as the LRT files are up to date with GWX 3.0 and so there's a lot less to correct.

If you compare LRT menu.ini to the GWX3.0 menu.ini you get 3 differences, so you only have to put those to OLC "Gold" menu.ini the one you have copied to your "Merged files" folder.
(make sure you have uninstalled your JSGME mods first before you compare)

If you compare LRT menu.ini to OLC"Gold" menu.ini, Yes there are loads of differences, by not uninstalling your mods that is what you'll be doing.
Uninstall, then compare LRT menu.ini with your GWX 3.0 main installation one and you'll see just 3.
.
.
Its a good demonstration of why always comparing back to your main installation makes merging easier.

For the Zones.cfg just copy the file "LRT 2.04 compatibility patches\EDE- LRT 2.04 Full patch\data\ Zones.cfg" into your "Merged files" folder, its up-to-date.

The en_menu.txt just copy the file "LRT 2.04 compatibility patches\OLC GUI Special - LRT 2.04 patch\data\Menu\en_menu.txt (& de_menu.txt) then edit line

but GWX 3.0 & LRT have
4430=Oxygen reserve %d%%, sir!

You choose which you want.

You'll notice compartment name differences, you can choose which set you prefer.

The only things that are important to LRT are:
43=;hh/mm
551=1-2 Hours ;Light
552=2-4 Hours ;Moderate
553=4-8 Hours ;Serious
554=8-12 Hours ;Very Serious
555=12-16+ Hours ;Critical
557=1-8 Hours ;Damaged
558=8-16+ Hours ;Heavy Dmg
559=Unrepairable

Thats because NvDrifter wanted to make it more realistic, so added a bit of uncertainty to the repair times.
You could if you want copy OLC "Gold" en_menu.txt & de_menu.txt to your "Merged files" folder and change the lines (in yellow) in en_menu.txt then do the german txt.

Now we will do the particles.dsd

In Winmerge open up
GWX 3.0\data\Library\particles.dsd
then open
LRT v2.04 Full\data\library\particles.dsd

We will do the top half first. Notice LRT v2.04 has some extra files at the top.

In Winmerge open
GWX 3.0\data\Library\particles.dsd
then open
Enhanced Damage Effects for OLC 'Gold'\data\Library\particles.dsd

The top half is identicle.

Make sure you have copied Enhanced Damage Effects for OLC 'Gold'\data\Library\particles.dat to your "Merged files" folder

Open your Silent 3ditor
Click on file and navigate to particles.dat that you copied to your "Merged files" folder

Click on file again and also open LRT v2.04 Full\data\library\particles.dsd

Let me know when you are ready.

Going over what we have done so far.

We have made a new folder in MODS and called it "Merged files"
The 6 conficting files have been copied here from OLC "Gold" & "Gold" EDE.
We have now started merging the LRT files with those above.

Because Longer_Repair_Times_2.04_ll\LRT 2.04 compatibility patches\EDE- LRT 2.04 Full patch\data\Zones.cfg is up-to-date we have copied that file and overwritten the one in "Merged files".

The "Merged files" menu_1024_768.ini has been corrected.
[G67 I608] - Font=5 to Font=14
[G67 I609] - Font=5 to Font=14
[G67 I610] - Pos=644,316,75,167 to Pos=675,316,34,34

The "Merged files" en_menu.txt has been corrected.
43=hh/mm to 43=;hh/mm
551=Minor to 551=1-2 Hours ;Light
552=Light to 552=2-4 Hours ;Moderate
553=Serious to 553=4-8 Hours ;Serious
554=Heavy to 554=8-12 Hours ;Very Serious
555=Critical to 555=12-16+ Hours ;Critical
557=Damaged to 557=1-8 Hours ;Damaged
558=Not Working to 558=8-16+ Hours ;Heavy Dmg
559=Destroyed to 559=Unrepairable
I also did.
598=Enemy is pinging us, sir! to 598=Enemy is pinging for us, sir!

The same lines was done for the german text, you can do the french one if you can translate.

This leaves Cameras.dat & the one we are doing now particles.dsd

Thanks h.sie
I see that it was the Interval3 that you tweaked to alter the repair times, also some floodtimes as well. It's a good addition to the repair mods and gives people more choice.
I think it's time the LRT mod was looked into and updated, there's some things I've noticed that need further investigations. Also its said that it's not fully compatable with GWX, even though I've never noticed it ingame it requires sorting out why.

I'm still here, just going over everything written a few times to avoid any further mistakes. I hope to be caught up in a day or so.

Also trying to get some "play" time in, I have had a very busy week.

Thanks for the support !!

Sharkley, any news/progress on this? I'd quite like to start a new career with GWX3, OLC Gold and LRT (I've never used LRT before but I like the concept).

TBW, have you looked into the 'incompatibilities'? IIRC, an early version of LRT caused problems with (the then-current version of) GWX, and after that the GWX team could not afford to spend time checking subsequent versions of LRT for compatibility, so they just said "use it at your own risk" and left it at that. Which I guess means that the most recent version of LRT might be compatible after all? Have you looked into it?

Anyway, if I can help with the OLC merge let me know.

Sorry I have let this slip. Large project in real life has taken me away from all things sub-ish.

Please carry on without me I hope to catch up soon
