So now you have nice mixed RFB enviroment with SH3 elements.

so that you have nine folders named 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. now you shoud only hear german lanquage. reason why I put only one folder in my mod =

What you have here is Sh3 env files, EnvColors_Atl, and SkyColors_Atl adapted to Sh4
to get your Sh4 look as close to Sh3 as possible. I made only minimum changes.
I changed sun multipliers in SkyColors_Atl to 1. That was all to it.
Recomended mods:
OM700.
Real enviroment.
Sh3_env_to_Sh4
Eye patch.
SH4_1.5_Uboat_freeCamFix.
Also I recommend to turn Post Process filters to off, as SkyColors_Atl texture looks as painted with
water colors if you have it on.
And now you can play Sh3 in Sh4. Gredits to skwas for S3D. For my work, NO Permission needed use as you like.:DL
So jimbuna tarjak etc, it is still long wait for gwx4,:yawn::cry::wah:
but "Sh3_env_to_Sh4" is here now.:):DL:D.

That is using sh3 EnvColors_Atl, and SkyColors_Atl adapted to Sh4.:salute:
So when you play Sh4 operation monsuun mod, enviroment looks like Sh3.
Sure Krillers and W_clear Real enviroment works and looks good for this. :DL

Good point, Maybe only 8 km :hmmm:
I will test 16 km it shoud have better textures, if so then I will make a new

yes The water is transparent, Wave action is from "real enviroment mod":DL

Heh no way, I woud like to play GWX4 :woot: but I hope that this way SH3 never dies as you can play now in "SH3 stock" like enviroment in SH4. :salute:
Seriously I am bit worried cause I have not seen any clouds, so maybe I need to port sh3 "EnvColors_Atl" data to sh4 one, also I tried sh3 16 km "SkyColors_Atl". but it did not work.:damn:
so I think I will adjust stock sh3 one, in gimp photo editor.:)
Also I wonder how GWX4 will look in "SH3 stock version" like enviroment:D:D

First, I was right you can NOT get any clouds with Sh3 "EnvColors_Atl".:damn:
So I copied data to Sh4 "EnvColors_Atl". And then tweaked colors to match.:DL
Now I have Graphic part nearly finished, but I want also to add Sh3 sounds to Sh4.
I will release them in one 7-zip file, but in different folders.:salute:
This way you can use Graphic part of the mod for Fleet boats if you vant.:DL

Also I have sounds and music basically working but there are some problems.
if I order crew to deck gun. They go, but no "Wo" "Man the deck gun" sound :damn: .

I tested stock 1.5 for "man the deck gun" sound and on US side there was "Yes sir" and on german side there was no sound,
so I am not going to worry if I do not hear some sound in Sh4 that I can hear In Sh3.:)
I will only test If there are some US sounds left . If NOT then

When I try to DL this from subsim/mods I get a login required popup even though I am logged in. When I fill it out and submit, I get a 530 error message.

Ok, I gave it a test drive. I like it! For those that dig the colors of SH3...you got it! Horizon looks good. Water colors have a bit of a green hue which is nice. Under the water a nice green. Clouds look good. Need to tweak a few things and this kind of sucks because it requires a mod for each mod package, ie. TMO, RFB, OM and others. The reason is, sharing between the two theaters in the files is a bit sticky...just like it was in the war:D.

Anyway, I ran it with TMO and the following needs to be looked at:
1) Dive bell for German boats plays for the fleet boats. This also includes the surface bell and emergency bell...need the klaxon. (reason for separate mod for each theater unless you know something I don't and I'm sure that is the case)
2) The sky at night has a yellow color. What I did was adjust gamma and overcame most of that. Might want to get a darker color.

Other than that, I think it was a cool idea and yes, it feels like SH3. You also added the music and that brought some memories back of SH3. Personally, I think you did a cool job here and had your thinking cap on when you decided to do this. I think if you look into those two things I mentioned you will have a very cool SH3 environment in SH4:up::up:...two thumbs up.

Keep in mind the yellow color might be my card setting so perhaps others might report the same? As far as the bell/klaxon I think you would have to create two mods, one for each theater. Also, I hit the dive button and heard, "Yevol Kuelaun":o...there is a German inflitrator on my boat:O:
Some fine tuning and it should be a very nice enviro mod:up:

Thus the suggestion for a mod for each...up to you because it is a lot of work. However, you could remove all speech and just use the textures and such for the enviro. And all is well for both :salute:

I would keep at it because I think a lot will use this mod. I'm thinking it is FPS friendly for some!

Hi Kapt`n Keldung,

All WeO------.ogg_files in the Speech_Folder not used with SH4, look into the Phrases_Voice_1 -9.dats, you will see no WeO´s entrys. Only in SH3 the WeO------.ogg_files are in used.

I am willing to help any way I can but mind you it has been a long time since I moderated in silent hunter 3 *only* and im just now re-aquainting myself to the tools & trying for the life of me to remember how I had my game at one time.. wich ofcourse i didnt back up *sigh*

anyr8 I am more of a 3d Modeler & textureing artist or even a sound effects wiz verses or compared to a syntax developement team guru.. but I can still make my way around it..

however I am unaware of editing in sh4 thus far so ile have to take a look @ it if any1 has any quality assurance requests

you can count on me for all your beta testing needs as long as I can play it

You need S3D tool, open sub dat file, like "NSS_Uboat9a.dat", next open
WaterReflection, you see:
Reflection = 1
Refraction = 1 :up:
Change Refraction = 1 to Refraction = 0 and now there is no underwater
sub hull refraction, you need to do same thing to sub turm also,
for "NSS_Uboat9a.dat" it is "Turm9c_1_hd.dat".

It is generally not possible to perceive objects beneath the surface of the ocean except in conditions where the waters are particularly clear, and when the sunlight and viewing angles are favorable.

The picture of USS Chicago that Hitman posted illustrates that it is possible under certain circumstances to see down into the water; however, the fact that it is a highly unusual photo also makes it "the exception that proves the rule."

I think it would be possible to modify the source code to change the visibility of submerged game objects based on water clarity, sun angle, and viewing angle, but I should think that would be a real drain on CPU resources best utilized to maintain high frame rates. Until then, I think you will just have to pick what you want to see all of the time and go with that, knowing that real-world exceptions exist.

Sorry You need to edit water transparency shader,:oops:
or if you simply disable volumetric fog and enviromental effect, water is
no more transparent. RFB uses a shader with redused transparency I think. Hope this help. :DL

The picture of Chicago was taken in the Pacific, near Malaysia, but it's certainly not that exceptional. In the Mediterranean the water is also clear enough, and in the Atlantic it might be a bit more darker, but still a submarine can be seen at periscope depth from the air. However what changes is A) The depth at which it vanishes (Lower in the Atlantic) and B) The angle at which it is visible (In the Atlantic you pretty much need to be just above it to be able to see it).

It is possible that under certain conditions, is visible the silhouette of the submarine to periscope depth, but in the Atlantic Ocean .....

Particularly, I prefer a little less visibility of the silhouette of the ship.

The visibility depends if the view is from a ship or from a plane flying overhead of the boat at periscope depth .

I think that is pretty realistic the view from the game because is difficult of see the boat from some distance in the surface, but easy from above.

I have just been trying this mod and it is great so far, I have one problem that I was wondering if there is a fix for.

With the Type IIB U Boat, when I come out of time compression it is rocking back and forth 35 - 40 degrees. It is fine otherwise and rocks as I would expect.

I was just wondering if there is a value that can be edited somewhere to change this when coming out of TC, I don't really want to mess with the center of gravity, as that will minimize the rocking in the proper circumstances.

About center of gravity, true, cg vas 1.9 originally and now 2.0
so there is not much to adjust.:hmmm: but drag UD was 0.02 and now
0.5 so I suggest adjusting UD drag, and please if you find a setting that
fixes problem please post it here.:up:

Hello you are right UD drag was 0,5 and it is now -0.02, so I suggest you go to 0,5 direction and see when time compression problem goes away.
hope it will not reduce rocking too much.
About adding flags to other U-boats, look how I added it to IXA with S3D.
and see if you can add it to other u_boats.:up:. You can then release it as your own mod.:DL:woot:

Well I am not very good with editing stuff, even with S3D. The only reason I knew about, and where to find the CG and Drag is because I saw them in another thread.

I see alot of changes between your IXA and Lurker's.. but I'll be damned if I can see what puts the flag on the boat lol

Thanks for the info, but I think you are missing my point. I can find the German.tga in there, I can say "yup, there it is" but all of that code might as well be written in an alien language. I can see it, I can understand the odd words, but what it does or how to apply it to another boat is simply beyond me.

I appreciate you trying to show me, but it is like trying to teach trigonometry to a 4 year old :doh:

First open IXA turm on one window of S3D then VII turm in second window.
Then copy and paste all of node Node 241 German_FLS to VIII,
and German tga also. :D Then adjust flag coordinates, also you can ask help from others also as I do not know very much more myself, other than copy and paste.:woot:
