I'm sure I've seen this before, but for the life of me I can't find it. Has anyone gotten rid of the US Battleships with the textureless hulls? Black, but not colored black, just not there?
I've tried a bunch of different mods, including two that retexture ships, and they're still there.

If they appear black, but not a shaded black, just a black like a pure silhouette, then it's more than likely the textures, either diffuse or ambient occlusion are missing (or possibly both). There are quite a few key texture files missing and it causes pure black (for example in the interiors of the subs and missing gauge textures). There are two versions of the textures, a normal and a low res, if one of them is missing and that's what you need, you'll get black.
What battleships are you missing the textures of? If you can tell me which battleships, I can have a look on my install. It's probably something simple.

All of them, at least the ones in Pearl Harbor as I sail out on my first patrol. And it's just the battleships. Carriers, cruisers and destroyers are fine.
Also I tried a German mission, and the Japanese battleship at Penang looked fine as well. So, just the US ones I've seen so far, and all I've seen so far is Pearl on December 8.

I have seen this a couple of times, it was either the Iowa or the North Carolina. Or maybe both.

I think I've solved the problem. Due to technical difficulties I had to reload the entire game. When I started it up the ships had nice camoflage on them. Later they were black again. It seems to be tied in with the graphics button involving Ship Maps, or something of that nature. I'll reactivate it and see what happens. I'm probably going to have to live with black battleships or even slower frame rates until I can upgrade.

The camouflage patterns are done in the AO maps, so that sounds like that's the problem.
