i would say no, but i dont use it
try without other mods, if its the same then start over clean and replace your data folder and all your mods with fresh copies. something in the files is fubar

Try checking on volumetric fog in the graphics options menu, water looks alot darker without that ticked and you also miss out on the transparacy of the water.
volumetric fog does not affect water transparency fyi.:yeah:

I use it and have never seen the water black. It's actually has more color and transparency to it.
When you say black, even in the daytime? Could be a mix of mods or as Webster said a file in the wrong place. I'll assume you've updated all drivers and stuff like that.
One thing I learned when playing with mods is to have a clean backup of the games data files in a seperate folder. My water didn't go black, but once went purple. I had somehow placed a file from one mod into another.
Thanks guys I will check.....

Well, what i meant by transparency being affected is that it would look alot darker without volumetric fog being ticked, hence transparency is harder to see lol.
It just dawned on me that the mod was installed with JSGME so how could a file get in the wrong place?

if a mod is installed in the game and you make any changes to the game files it isnt the same file anymore that you installed so weird things happen when you do that.
trust me even with jsgme things get mixed up so its simple to replace everything and start again, thats why you keep backup copies of everything. :yep:
Ok guys it was a mod that I installed called "lite fog" causeing the problem...:hmmm:

Hmmm that mod doesnt change the water visibility.
Did you use it whit the latest enviroment mod? found in this thread:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=149596
As it is an addon to that. if you used it whit some other earlier versions i can not guaranty it will work.
The file i used is for that mod and just changed some simple values for the fog apperance. And that has nothing to do how the water looks like.
Yes sir I used it with that mod..When I took the lite fog mod out the water went back to normal....:hmmm:

Now that was real odd.
Iam using same file my self and never heard of this problem from any of the others that use it.
Iam curious what mods you are using beside that enviroment mod+ the lite fog then.
Just so i can track it down if its a bug somewhere.
My self have the SH 1.5 TMO+RSRDC then the Enviro + the lite fog.
And its from that confguration i used the file just to change back the fog values close to stock.
Now when you run the game whitout the lite fog. Do you have the visibility like "heavy" fog ingame when the crew report light fog? ( It was for this purpose the lite fog is. to make it more visible when there is light fog)

Thx for your list :)
I appreciate it.
I se you are using Kosh 9km visibility mod.
That will proberly be the problem why the lite fog didnt work.
The scene.dat file that comes whit enviroment mod have changed many things like colour, fog etc. And you need that file to run the enviroment mod at full glance.
I used that file and just changed the fog a bit.
If you use the kosh mod it will overwrite many other values that was made for the Envirovment mod and you can still get into situations where the game behave odd for you.
Just experiment a bit. Uninstall the Kosh mod and use enviroment mod and check the difference. Then if you want you can try to install the lite fog and check the difference.
If you dont like it at all you can allways go back and use the kosh mod :)
Good Luck
Vikinger.

I noticed you have 'bearded faces' in the order. Could you send me a link where that is? I did a search on that and couldn't come up with anything...
Thanks

i would suspect max optics could be the wild card there, when i used it there were some mods that had strange effects and i never really figured out why but i just stopped using it as the lazy mans solution to the problem lol. i know it can be finicky sometimes.
I dont know Webster, been using max optics for awhile and never have a problem with it.....
