Hello, Everybody:D
Got some great news ! my Caustic mod for REAL ENVIRONMENT is COMPLETE and packed up with directions......Now for the BAD news....can sombody tell me how or what I need to do to upload for the masses....never done that before:oops: if sombody can show me I would be greatful.....:D The end product is 338 meg zipped and unzipped 1009 meg:o yup, you read correct all 107 ship caustic effects are re-done....:rock:

Kriller was wondering if I was making an add-on for real enviroment, the answer to that question is yes, not so much an add on as it is in flipping on switches and days of adding numbers totaling about 107 ships in all adding my own tweaks and adjustment to the caustic ship generator effects which were completley disabled in the environment mod 5.0......come to find out when real enviroment was released I tried it with #4 ship reflections from environment mod 5.0, and the result was staggering......so I decided to take it a step further.....the water has been so well done with sharpness and clearness with the sun reflections, there was one major componenet missing, THE SHIP CAUSTICS !.....the mod will be named #4 Ship Reflect and Caustics envionment mod 5.1 this will be an add-on for real enviroment.....I in no way take credit for kriller and W_Clears work, I would just like the recognition for the Amount of time and effort in reactivation of every individual ship including scaf,trigger maru,ops monsun,and original SH4 ships, It is a very complicated process !!!
pictures and more detail will be coming forth soon....This is a work in Progress, but will be well worth the wait :D

this mod is very big, will be 0.98 Gig unpacked, I will need to zip so mod will be smaller to download, keep in mind every ship 107 at last count have been reconfigured and tweaked to allow the caustics generator to function again with the amazing new real environments mod....I will need to figure out how to upload and what the best new sight is to do that...:shifty:

About Ships Reflect:
It's only semi-finished products in the environment 5.0 of the Ships Reflect.3D MODE required at each node to increase Reflect, then adjust the parameters, is a complete Ships Reflect,so need a lot of time to adjust one ship.This job is very time consuming, but I will finish it.

It is really fantastic work you guys are doing....Believe me when i say I have a new appreciation for the amount of work that is required...to get things perfect, I now have 6 pages of my new ship parameters for the caustic effects, which are all in this upcoming mod, it was a staggering amount of work to copy down tweak and input all the numbers, but I did it.....take your time on the new ship reflect mod, and once your done then I can add all the updated caustics parameters and adjustments to make it all complete.....I think the new mod coming out for the caustics everybody will be happy with.....I did not get crazy, Cause I am shooting for realism....and it really looks stunning......:D
By the way, who are you going to use for new file hosting ?

By the way, There is only one ship that I could not re-do :nope: nobody told me there was Ghost ship, The flying dutchman......:o in the game, and I have never seen it pop up on my patrols...EVER:shifty: you should have seen me trying to figure out why there was no caustic protocal/parameters for this ship:doh: till ten minutes later when it finally dawned on me that if a ghost ship had caustic reflections :D then it would not be a ghost ship now would it :88).....:har::har: though you all might get a kick out of that.......the things we modders have to indure......:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Upload all mods to BTS (http://www.bts-mods.com/). or contact Onkel Neal Stevens with the new SubSim Vault.
I've found them much easier to download than FF. Tell the truth I've never liked FF, main dig was the download manager blocking. Where I'm situated I have to use a manager otherwise I lose the big downloads halfway :down:.

I must ask. Have you changed anything in the .Val file? That handle the wake?
Only reason i ask is cuz iam trying to do an longer wake mod but if you have allready done it i can skip the time consuming work ( even thou its fun to do) But 150 ships and subs to go through takes some time :D

I also got with neal and he has set me up to upload, but this is a very large mod and need the extra access for large mods FTP protocal or somthing like that...Thanks so it won't be long before everybody will be able to download the huge mod.....:D

ahhh technology at its greatest no worries mate like they say patience is a virtue. If im correct in my thinking this is just the caustics on the hull of ships correct, so the reflection maps for all the ships are not included?

actually it includes W_Clears environment 5.0 reflect work, as he stated above thats not totally complete....he is working on this, this includes ship reflect and all the new caustics work:D

My mod is uploaded, but I am not able to make the link work between dowload and mod location:damn::damn: so it is not available yet, Sorry for the Delay, there is a serious learning curve here, even following the directions to the letter, the link in dowloads comes up with a white page stating this

MOD is ready for download, this is my first mod, and let me tell you alot of work to accomplish, I am hoping the packing process works and unzips with no error, with a very large mod like this you cant tell, I did test the unpacking process and it worked.....so please let me know:yep: and will keep trying if not:06: the mod is hosted right here at subsim.....and a great thanks to Neal for helping with the rough spots:up:

quick AAR for ya, installation no problems, the reflections look awesome especially when a ship goes up in flames, ship caustics look very good also, no slow downs for my rig either.

rgr on not being compatible with om and rfb, back to sh3 gwx3 i guess, that debri field looks like its from sh3 and some of the work over their looks good i might say. Regardless the mod looks real nice.

for you guys that dont run above configuration or with these mods....try it on yours and see if it works, and I encourage experimentation.....since these are updated ship files, I would imagine RFB uses alot of the same ships....SO pull the ships out that RFB uses and walla....caustics for RFB
there are just to many different scenario's to cover all of them....:06: it would take months to update each individual mod....at 107 ships per crack....:dead:

Requirments to operate mod....This mod was created with these elements installed, BUT Since each ship was configured to run by itself, there is plenty
of room to try other configurations.....and should work fine.....Ahem !!! for you RFB and EXPERIMENTAL GUYS !!!
1. Trigger Maru, updated to beta_170
2. RSRDC_TMOv163_V410 Patched to 2.0
3. OpsMonsun_V700 Patched to 3.0

The above is Also the correct load order for the game to work correctly....TRUST ME !
Install using GENERIC MOD ENABLER as you would any other mod, dont forget to unzip first....
The mod is very large, containing all 107 ships from above MODS that have had there caustic generators reconfigured/Turned back ON and tweaked with new numbers for sharper brighter effects to enhance the Way Real environment
deals with the new water effects,so it will take a while to decompress, and a Little Time for mod enabler to convert so it will delay a bit.....
Do to the complexity of so many variations of this game I have designed this mod with my current configuration to cover many different aspects, with respect to how many people use above MODS
so if your game breaks you can configure ships any way you like to make your current setup stable....Good Luck and God Speed CAPTAINS !!!!

I am having the same problem as the poster above me. The mod has a big red check mark on it as well. The game crashes before it finishes loading with the mod enabled. I've even just had Real Enviroments and this mod active. I've even tried it with just this mod active, each time, the game crashes while loading. The red check mark I mentioned earlier is on the "Sea" folder in the mod folder.

That is correct, you must use the exact configuration with all the patches installed, because you are overwriting, those same files, but with the new ship parameters and effects installed.....dont worry about the red check mark on the file, that was put there for me using as a done folder......it wont effect installation......
SH4 1.5 UBM Missions ONLY
1. install trigger maru overhauled_162......then install beta patch_170
this includes trigger maru_163 patch pull out UPC data folder if you want telegraph bell sound from beta patch_170 recommended !! then install Normally.
2. Install RSRD_TMOv163_V410 then patch using patch 2
3. Install OpsMonsun_V700 then patch using patch 3
4. Install Scaf1.5_RSRDCv410_TMO_163 for 163 only
5. Install REAL ENVIRONMENTS 1.0
6. Now install #4 ships_reflect and Caustic_Environment 5.1 and dont worry about red checkmark on folder, that was for me to indicate ships that were done, will not have any effect on install, cause I am running the same folder.....:DL
7. install any other Mods....... Be Carful Here !!!

T h a t would be Great:D BUT and Big BUT here, its not that simple, the original SH4 1.5 files were used as a reference, and the large add on mods change the ship files alot, like RSRD and Scaf and especially Ops Monsun, in order to get everything working with all these mods I had to overwrite files in install order then update and install all the ship parameters, 107 from the sea file....to get everything to work.....if I had just updated SH4 1.5 ships, half of the ships would be over written and break all that hard work with no caustics since environment 5.0 ships reflect has them completley disabled, same with Ops Mosun and so on....since the largest file which is the ship dat. file, is the one that gets tweaked and the one that gets overwritten with alot of the large mods I figured this would be the simplest way to get all the goods, if I had the time to do every individual mod I would:hmmm:, but Have to work:)....time is limited.....thats why I encourage you to experiment with individual ships in the file and replace the ships in your configuration, One by one if need be, see what works and what doesnt....since they are just the ship files.....:salute:

File only, this should make things alot more compatible for all the diffrent configurations out there, at least were hoping, I am learning as I go Here:doh:, if it does not, then some work will be required on your part, and explained in the included Text document, this is as simple as I can get it for you guys, cause I wanted to cover every ship I possibly could in the game....at least for the ones I use....and I wanted to pass the eye candy along....it would be a shame to do all that work, and I was the only one enjoying it.....:hmmm: the simplified version is uploaded, but still need to do the download work...another 1/2 hour before available.....below is the directions I hope everybody can follow, but still not for the faint at heart :o

This version is a complete breakdown of the larger mod to just the ship dat. files
install using mod enabler and it will overwrite just your ship dat. file of the ships you have installed, It will also install the ship dat. Files that you dont have
and I am not sure what effect if any that will have....hopfully none, if in the case it does not work, here is what you will need to do, look at your sea folder of your configuration, your ship files installed, make a
Data folder on your desktop, open data folder and make another folder named Sea, once done, look at the ships you have installed in your game configuration Sea folder,and which ever ships you have installed move
the same Ship dat. file to your Sea file you just made, repeat till all the ships dat. files you need are in your new Sea folder, then close your new sea folder, now make a new folder on your desktop and name it: #4 Ships_Reflect and Caustic_Environment Mod 5.1
once that is done place the data folder containing the Sea folder into the: #4 Ships_Reflect and Caustic_Environment Mod 5.1 folder and install using Generic Mod Enabler......and you should be ready to glimmer on the high Sea's......:)
This is the simplest I could make it, this mod still contains all the ships from following Mods: I am not sure if the ships Dat. file is different in RFB, cause I dont use that particular mod, but this breakdown should make it much more compatible.....with other configurations people use.
1. Trigger Maru, updated to beta_170 .................................................. ........................What ever your using for your Main set-up.....
2. RSRDC_TMOv163_V410 Patched to 2.0............................................... .................................................. .^
3. Ops Monsun_V700 Patched to 3.0 .................................................. .................................................. ....^

Now, The ship Dat. files I used to upgrade caustics are the same W_Clear used for ships reflect #4 in ENV 5.0

the answer to the first question, yes, go ahead and install real environments 1.0, after that install only the file, #4 Ship reflect from environment 5.0, then install my mod
the answer to the second question, No you do not need to install Ops Monsun if you don't want or have any of the other mods, you can use what ever config you want, with the simplified version of my mod, the ships that I had re-done are from those mods, what ever ships you have it will overwrite that ship dat.file, it will also install the ones you dont, I am not sure if that will cause problems, if it does, then you got your work cut out for you, and make your own ship sea folder as mentioned.....most of the ships are pretty standard through out the sea folder from mod to mod, but newer mods add ships and I wanted to get the caustics working on those too....

I want to thank you for your work on this. :yeah:
I am currently doing a fresh install of TMO_17 and the full version of your mod. There have been a few changes since you've made 'Ships_Reflect and Caustic_Environment Mod 5.1'.
The final version of TMO_1.7 has been released and there's a newer RSRD patch, RSRDC_V410_Patch2B. Both of these have SCAF 1.5 incuded, so I did not install SCAF 1.5. And CapnScurvy has released a newer version of MaxOptics as well, 'MaxOptics & SCAF fix TMO1.7_41109'.
So here is my install order with JSGME...

Thanks for the rating, alot of work went into plunking in the numbers and figuring out what was reality and what looked good, so I stayed between both, sorry for the delayed response, in the middle of moving, fun stuff.....if anybody has any questions dont hesitate to ask....thats why we do what we do cause it's fun, you learn alot and you make friends...if you watch run silent run deep and look at the reflections off the side of the models and even real war movie clips you can see the very same reflections ........this movie is where I modeled alot of the new numbers to get the caustics looking sharp with Real Environments, those guys did a fantastic job with that mod and wanted to fullfill a very large missing piece of the puzzle....that they did not have time to work with, after all, a couple of modders and or single modder has time to do only so much.....:yeah::salute: :yeah: If and when W_Clear finishes all the ships on his reflection mod, I can use the files he modded to enter the caustics data on top of that along with updates, but he said it would take time, it is a very labor and time consumming process, after all we wouldnt want to rush perfection now would we......:D

Hello , I was checking a bit with a couple of quick missions and it looks like the caustic effect are basically there in the war ships and also in the Balao sub , even without the addition of this caustic patch for the Real Environmental mod into the SH4 1.5 game , therefore I have a doubt if I need or not to add this caustics effect patch , can you tell me please if the duty of this caustic patch is to add the caustic effect or to increase the caustic effect , thank you

The purpose of this mod was to enhance the caustic effects, brighter, sharper, more clear as the real environment mod was so well done with the water effects, the caustics needed to be re-intoduced as they were missing from the real environment mod,and the most impressive ships reflect MOD, which I am hoping W_clear will finish all the ships so I can update my mod when he is done, only certain ships and a couple of subs had the original caustic values, the rest of the ships were for some reason all zeroed out....no caustics at ALL....I had talked to W_Clear and Kriller about this and they just did not get the time to hand input all the caustic effects parameters for there mods, thats where I came in and did all the parameters by hand as well as improve the parameters to look great against real enviroment.....there are two versions of this mod, advanced and simplified, I am using advanced with
TMO 1.7, Ops Monsun 705, RSRD 411 and works fine, more updates to these mods have been done so compatibility is unknown at this time, but the ships really do not change that much....if you are unsure just pull the the ships out of my mod and replace the ones in your mods you are currently using.....simplified version recommended for this....the advanced version includes ships from Ops Monsun 700 and RSRD 410 so if you are using that confige,you could do the same scenario.....Best of Luck,:salute:

Nice Carrier Shot !
Cruising in front of a dark blue cloudy sky with reflection and caustics, FULL STEAM AHEAD......NICE :ping: If you are wondering exactley what this mod does, just look at the screen shots at the beginning of this post.....Believe me the effects are well worth it, there so much it adds to the game, like perceived
movment, depth, shimmering water and the like....fantastic in shallow water when the sun is shining.....if you download the large version of the mod, I had manually added new caustic parameters for over 107 ships, covering Ops Monsun 705, RSRD 410, and TMO 1.63, also A note ***I will be updating my
set-up to the latest RSRD 411 patch 2 and Ops Monsun 710, let you know if it works as a whole.....in the mean time, as I stated above, its a little extra work but you can download the mod and go into your sea folder and replace with all the ships I have done, the ship files are the only files modified, and will not effect the rest of your main file set-up......which makes it nice for compatibility with TMO 1.7 and updates for RSRD and Ops Monsun, I am a big TMO fan, when I did this mod I incorporated TMO 1.63 when I modified the caustic parameters, so compatibility with RFB problably will not work....sorry RFB guys, there is just so much work in modding parameter numbers, its mind numbing, I had to pick a side.....in any case happy hunting, keep you posted......:DL

I think I have SS's of about 40 different ships so far...the effects are just great. Here's a few. One of the best eye candy mods out there..if not the best.

Yea, you see them long before the ship. No big deal, but I would prefer not to have them, but not at a loss of any effects. At some angles it can be bad. Hard to see, but that's the reflection of the ship that you cannot see.

Never noticed that BUG..., but I don't play alot of night missions....must be a hard coded problem in the programming some where, W_Clear has been Quiet, any one Know if he is still working on his ship reflection project, I saw on a thread they,that being W_Clear and Kriller:salute: may take a break for a while......:ping: if so, happy hunting, they deserve it....:yep:

This is not a very noticeable Bug and nobody never spoke about it ( you cannot see this bug if you play at full realism ) and kill a bit the inmersion factor,when the sub make a turn ( to the left or right ) the stern dont fully follow the bow of the sub , the stern slide outside and I have no idea how to correct this

Just wanted to let you all Know, I have tested my mod with Trigger Maru Beta 1.8, RSRD 411 with patch number 2, and Ops Monsun 705 upgraded to 712 and all seems to be working very well, I used the large version of my MOD :D :yeah: there have been many changes in the updates, but it does not seem to effect the ships to much in this area....:up: Sail On Fellow Captains !!!! :ping:
Also I like to use the sea worn boat mod, for my sub interior, it really makes the new light effects stand out while using TMO 1.8.....but it does not allow you to access the front/forward hatch for captains bunk and radio room, can anybody fix that mod to allow access through the front hatch......:hmmm::06: pictures coming soon !

Several have seen it. I wonder it it's another another mod. I haven't tried it without Real Env.
