Hi there. Just got back into this awesome game with a fresh install of SH3 patch 1.4b and GWX 3.0 + OLC GIU 1.2.7

I am having a great time. I went for the career out of Kiel Fleet 1. on a type IIA. I kind of like to work for the type VII so it is more fun when I can get one.

All is well except that when I select my torpedo load on the upgrade screen for the patrol I can't load the electric torpedo onto the ship. I can click on it, and the description will show with the black torpedo but when I double click to load the picture will show a steam torpedo again. I forgot, can you not load the electric on a IIA boat? I can upgrade the rest of the ship (well... so far all I have tried was the sign on the side of the tower but it worked).

Any ideas? I did not figure how to search for this (I figured "electric torpedo" will give me a ton of results) so sorry if this has come up already.

Before you double clicked on the electric torpedo, did you click on the torpedo tube or internal storage space?

Select one of the options first, then double click on the type of torpedo you want.

I have selected the already loaded torpedo on the sub so the box would be highlighted. Then I clicked the electric on the left side of the screen. It shows up. Then I double clicked it to load. But it does not load.

WOW, That is a glitch now isn't it. What version(s) are you currently running? What mods?

Fresh install patched to 1.4b. Gwx3.0 on top. OLC GUI 1.2.7 on top.

I apologize, :oops:but I am simply stumped as to what could be causing this, I have never heard of anyone having this problem.

Anyone want to take a stab at this one?

I'll check back and if no one gives you an answer i'll track down some help for you.

Don't worry about it too much. But thanks anyways. It was interesting. Meanwhile I have started a new career and in the current one it works just fine.

Now I ran into a new problem. When I upgraded my sub (finally) from type IIA to VII on my first patrol I have no ammunition for the main gun. I have never seen that one before either.

I can answer this one for you.

Go into your crew management screen, assign crew to your deck gun, then go to your deck gun icon on the left slidout screen, click on it. You should now see an animation of a deck gun round on the right side, click on it and your crew will load your deck gun. You only have to do this when you leave on a patrol.:salute:

And that is exactly what I did. I mean I know how to change torpedoes. I am not new to the game btw I just have been away for like a year or two.

In my new game it works fine. But now that I am thinking about this again, I have not even tried electric while I was with the type II in the new career that I have just started. I kind of gave up on it as I was not planing on sinking destroyers anyways. I was focused on getting that 2500 renown to upgrade to the VII. So I have only tried it after I got into the type VII. I don't do anything different and it works.

Thanks! I will try that. I did not click on the screen I just went there with the F key. However I did the same thing for the AA gun and that works fine. I even sunk a tiny fishing vessel with the AA gun LOL.

I have just tried that. But the problem is that I have zero ammo. but i have not fired a single shot yet. The screen shows 0 loaded and 0 storage on the bottom right (while you are in the gun station). I am simply out of ammo. Strange.

The reason that it shows 0 available and 0 loaded is because the GWX team did away with star shells and AP shells. So now when you first start your patrol the only rounds you have are HE. BUT you have to manually load the first round, once you do that your crew will automatically load every round there after.

You do have ammunition, its there trust me, hit the I key and it will show you that your deck gun ammo is there.....Now listen closely, before you go to the deck gun station you have to put your crew there first. After your 3 crewmembers are at the deck gun station, then go there and you will see them manning the deck gun, this is when you click on the HE round icon on the right hand portion of your screen. You should now see the white status bar appear below the round icon, once it fills up you are good to go!

I almost forgot, to put your crew in the deck gun station, you have to do it manually from the crew management screen, by click and dragging them there.

I will give it another go. I did man the gun manually. I will check the "I" page to see if it shows anything.

Thanks for trying to help!!!

No problem. Just give a shout if you need any more help.

It's tough sometimes when you quit playing a certain game for a while, and then when you come back to it... BOOM it's a completely different animal than what you were used to.

It worked. You got it right. I had to click on the bottom right of the screen on the ammo indicator. That is what I have been missing.

After that I just had to get into a gunfight so I attacked (on the surface) a little coastal boat and I sunk it with the AA after a long shootout. I could not hit it with the main gun so I keep pumping it with the AA. Of course he was pumping me too with his gun but it seemed the sub took it well. so he went down but right after a plane showed up and I dove. Around just may be 20m my boat just suddenly sunk. Ouch.... I guess I am not supposed to do that. It must have weakened my hull.

There is an option in SH3Cmdr that allows you to see your hull integrity %. Some people think this is cheating, but I use it as a general reference so that I have an idea as to how badly damaged my boat is.

You as a captain would probably know (to some extent) how bad your ship is damaged. I would think.
