A big thanks to Jaketoox who created the TGA for SH4 !:yeah:

and for his cooperation to the captain CapZap1970 which provided a great help in this transformation.

Unpack the files, you will create a New Folder in the hard disk, inside there will be a folder named
data , select data and do the copy / paste in the folder where you installed silenthunterIII.
When you are prompted to overwrite confirm with OK .

Here you are:

http://files.filefront.com/Foam7z/;13517591;/fileinfo.html

Just unpack it to your MODS folder in JSGME and enable it....I haven't tested it yet but seeing as how it's only a texture file (see post by Dowly also) it should be fine.

Any problems, simply disable it http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/thumbsup.gif

Just wondering, if jaketoox has changed his username to captain DUVAL? :hmmm:

Try compare the texture files in the misc folder with the very same from SH4 ROW mod provider, jaketoox, and his mod: ROW_New_Seafoam_from_Jaketoox
Released in this thread:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=130150
And still available here:
http://files.filefront.com/ROW+NEW+SeaFoam+from+Jakeox7z/;8976112;/fileinfo.html
They are exactly the same, only converted from dds to tga.
I see no where in the readme nor in this thread that the textures were made by jaketoox originally. In fact, quite the opposite.

Though the idea of using seafoam textures for the wakes is an original idea, the use of the textures is not. That tends to be plagiarism.

So much for recommended modding etiquette...

M.E.G. arises from research and assembly of the best mod created by the best modders like you and that you can find in subsim, I have always written all their names as your name!
But this mod-wake DD is a creation of Duval! I am sure, because 'he started to work the file foam.tga original SH4. He has worked with photoshop them for many days to create the mod.
Duval was one of fifteen appointed from ubi like the tester to test the SH4 before it being released on the market. I am sure that he absolutely did not use the file jaketoox So before you accuse someone of plagiarism try to think about it 2 times.
the mod is and will remain * D & D wake mod * otherwise I will remove the publication!

03-24-09, 05:34 PM
First of all, it's not my mod, so why do I care? Well, as a modder I like the idea of credits, and I think credits are due to be issued in this case. Especially, when it's presented as original work with no rework whatsoever.

Okay, so this captain DUVAL reworked the original SH4 foam files, you say?
How do these original SH4 files look like? I enclose them here, and all files resized to max 800 pixels and converted to jpg due to forum presentation:

Original SH4 SeaFoam files:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Carotio/20070214org_SeaFoam01.jpg

Original SH4 Foam files:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Carotio/20070214org_foam01.jpg
Both files dated 2007-02-14

How do your mod's tga's look like? Like this:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Carotio/20090309DDwake_Foam01.jpg
Dated 2009-03-09

Then compare with jaketoox' files, dated 2007-10-14:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y288/Carotio/20071014jaketoox_SeaFoam01.jpg

Overwhelming similarity, wouldn't you say? Come on. It's obviously a rework of his work, nothing more. And I doubt he would have mind you doing so. I cannot speak on his behalf. I just recognized his work in your mod with ease, because I rework graphic files myself often, and his work is quite good. And I have thought this over enough time, and I still call it plagiarism, when it's a rework without credits given.

Should you redraw your mod? Well, I will leave that up to you. Personally, I don't think so, but I would suggest, you rewrite the readme and update the first post in this thread and thank jaketoox for his original graphic files.

Thank you for your wake mod. Nice work to all!!!:up::up:

Just a thought, but high-resolution textures will affect framerates. Just a suggestion, you may consider making a second version as "standard resolution" (reducing texture sizes by half). In doing so, more people can enjoy the mod.

Two versions... easy as pie! :shucks:

I must admit I'm noticing a frame rate hit,and since I'm already getting CTD's when a convoy is to large,I'm a bit worried about how this will affect my patrol if,and when I bump into one:oops:Perhaps a 'Lite' version as Kpt.Lehmann sugest's which is also JSGME enabled would be a good idea:hmmm:Brilliant little mod, looks great, congrats to you and Cpt Duval:yeah:

but if I will make so... the resolution of tga.files will be :

If you will tell me ok I will put in the first page the link to download them|

Should it be possible to rework the bowspray in high quality? don't fit no more with your beautiful foam :hmmm:

just replacing the texture used for bowspray won't be enough as a FastParticleGenerator is used to make the spray. The whole FastParticleGenerator needs to be redone to make it look more realistic. This can easily be done but then it has to be done for every ship and sub as they each have their own FPGs for each spray (even the Turms have their own FPGs for sprays).

Just an FYI for anyone who has had framerate hits due to this MOD... (GREAT MOD by the way Desga - Looks beautiful )... using Photoshop I shrunk the image sizes down to 256x256 (CTRL+ALT+I) and I got all my frames back and the wakes still look great! :DL I was taking about a 20-30fps hit... I like the look of this texture. They look great in screen shots.:woot:

I don't like how they look in real time though in calm seas. :hmmm: There is too much action in them, almost too many squiggles or something around the sub. It looks too turbulent until the wind gets to 8mps or so,then they fit better.

I don't suppose there is a way to implement these textures so they would be used by the ships only and not the subs. Subs are so streamlined and I don't think they would make so much turbalance around the sub. Maybe behind it but these textures make a wide turbalance which fits the bigger ships better.

Hi All Commander, you excuse me for my English.
After numerous requests from the other captains who had slowdowns with resolution 1024 x 1024, we captains Duval and Desga can finally release 2 new versions for the * D&D Wake mod *
The first resolution is 512 x 512
the second resolution is 256 x 256
The files are already tested!
A big thanks for his cooperation to the captain CapZap1970 which provided a great help in this transformation.
A warm thanks to all the commanders who were able to appreciate the work done for the sole purpose of being able to entertain everyone and improving this great simulator!

Jaketoox, whether you realize it or not, I owe you an apology.

As you are one of the original ROW modders alongside the late LeoVampire and company... you are most certainly the expert on the matter... and have the means to speak with authority on this subject.

Your statement I respect as being true evidence.

Desga and Duval, you need to do the right thing. I retract my statement that asks you to stand your ground. It is CLEAR that you have used the work of others, so you should naturally take a moment to adjust your readme text files and credit your re-release of these textures properly.

I strongly beg -for the benefit of this forum- that everybody follows the example and takes things easy and sportsman-like as Jaketoox did.

Carotio, I'm not going to comment or judge your post, but I must direct you to discuss this per PM with KL. No matter what past issues are between you both, I know he is a honourable man and will attend any founded and reasonably presented claim. Throwing a glove at his face in public will in turn probably not make things easier.

Now please everybody stay on topic; I will have some PMs with some people here and clarify matters.

I take a FRAME RATE hit but it nevers bothers me really and I dont have a stellar system ( 2.8 pent4 with 2500GB RAM and a 512 NVIDEA card). Maybe i just dont understand frame-rates but IMO frame-rate only hurts you when your close to land or trying to peep in on all the damage you create.. IMO..Play it real...launch the torps then duck under cover. I get 90ish-100ish frames a second (85 refreash rate) when spotting the MAP and between 25-34 when on watch.

This MOD works for me:)
