Ahoy! What would be the cause of this error when installing GWX 3?

Hello Neal, I'm not 100% on this, but it looks really similar to something that happened to me way back when i first tried to install GWX2.0. If i remember right mine had to do with forgetting to roll back SH3Cmdr before i did a clean install of GWX.

I dont know if this helps. I'll bet Jaeson knows for sure though.:hmmm:

Neal,
Just delete the file. It refers to the text file from the JSGME in your SHIII folder.

Hi Neal,

since there's the question of 'Source File' I think it is a corrupted installer.
Which one did you use - the single file installer or the splitted one? In the second case maybe one of the *.bin files is corrupted...

Hi its the first time ive attempted to load GWX3 from an initial install of SH3 plus 1.4b. I had a single exe file to run the install.

I will try deleting the file, but it was one of those where if I ignored the error, it just brought another up...

I assume there isnt a vista specifc issue beyond whats mentioned in the user guide?

Another point, im based in the UK but purchased a US DVD of SH3 and am using a US DVD version of 1.4b, is there any issue there?

Ive just tried to confirm SH3 with 1.4b works. It doesnt...

Is that because the GWX install failed following the rollback due to GWX install problem?

Neal and Derek, it sounds as if both of you are suffering from the same corrupted download issue as others have reported.

Try downloading the GWX 3.0 installer over at bts-mods.com, both the huge single-file version and the multi-part version should be available.

Filefront has posed problems with some users especially when using a download manager, such as Getright or Free Download Manager, to grab files. For some reason, those handy little tools have lately tended to corrupt large downloads from FF.

I know FF has made many changes to enforce using browsers that do not block ads or javascript (Internet Explorer) and as such does not work well, if at all, with browsers that have strong security (Firefox).

On the other hand, if it is more of an ISP issue (some do intentionally block packets on large downloads as only pirates download huge files, right?) it might work better for you if the GWX installer was zipped into smaller sized files. If that's the case, give me a shout and I'll zip up my working copy for you into more manageable chunks.

Neal,

Looks like you are running Vista. Are you? If so, loading games into the X86 program files can cause errors when loading mods. Where did you load the game?

Hi guys, Neal has been enquiring on my behalf. I installed SH3 and 1.4b direct onto C drive avoiding the program files as advised. As I work through the error messages it was just flagging aircraft, scenery etc with no end in site, so im thinking the download may be corrupt. I looked for the file to try and delete as suggested but its not there in the SH3 directory.

Any thoughts? I have Vista with aQuad core packard bell, norton and just use explorer.Im not using any sort of download managers.

You might be correct. If you loaded outside of the Vista files, free standing, it should not have errors. Is there another spot to get the files?

I have downloaded the single 1.4GB exe file of GWX five times but the MD5 is always bad. Either the MD5 hash is wrong or I keep getting a corrupt file.
