hogwash, you ARE a modder, you just dont know it yet.
step 1 - ask questions
step 2 - ask more questions learning about how things work
step 3 - then you start modding.
its easy soldier now get to it :salute:
as for your question, not too many people fight it out on the surface so you might need to make your own mod for that. there are a lot of very easy things you can do yourself to mod the game and if you screw something up, so what delete the file and start over so its no big deal.

thnx thyro, i'll look:DL
thnx webster, much to learn before i attempt any self-made mods:know:
i dont relish the idea of fighting it out on the surface, just looking for an edge if i have to surface to finish off an armed merchant or a crippled dd:D

well on my filefront i have upgraded deck gun mod that raises ammo amounts and reduces reload times to 2 seconds so it is much easier to fight on surface and survive.
modding is easy with s3d (get it here) (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=119571), just about everything is controlled by sim and zon files and action related stuff is in the dat files read skwasjers thread and you will start trying stuff i promise, it IS that easy.

"Battle Surface" does NOT mean "Surface battle."
A battle surface is a KIND OF SURFACING.
Blow the tanks at PD, go fairly fast, and hold the boat just below the surface with the planes. Then up planes, and "bounce" quickly to the surface. The gun crews are waiting, and literally pop out of the sub (helped by overpressure) to get the gun(s) into action.
A "battle surface" is sort of the opposite of a "crash dive."
Not really possible in SH4 since we don't have plane control.

actually on 1.5 has somesort of control over planes... not like sail a carrier and order squads to lift off (this would be a kandy)
But I wonder if 1.5 use of planes can be adapt in some way to fill that gap so to be possible to have a surfaced battle with planes as well.

nice thought thyro, but we were talking about fore and aft DIVE planes, and yes it would be candy to be able to order an airstrike:salute:
Yeah, thyro, I was of course talking about the dive planes on the submarine, lol.

what if you reversed crash dive? like a crash surface? could you reverse the settings and get the opposite effect?
Yeah, thyro, I was of course talking about the dive planes on the submarine, lol.
LOL :har:
Anyway a nice thought of diving planes "launched" from a carrier like in Battlestations... no one seem to have explored 1.5 capabilities yet :hmmm:
