View Full Version : [REQ] day/night time
Hi,
Is there a way for day/night time remain stead when time speed is increased?
I mean set it over 1000 and soon AM is in the afternoon and PM is in the morning.
Is there something that fix this matter?
Cheers

The time listed is always Pearl Harbor time (or Greenwich Mean Time - I forget which). The time seems off because as you cross the ocean into different time zones the clock stays with the original time. If you hold the cursor over the clock it will show the local time as well.
D'oh!!!
Many thanks for the insight :salute:

Time zones don't explain day and night completely flipping around. There seems to be a bug, which often seems to be related to using high TC, that screws the day/night cycle. AFAIK nothing to do about that other than avoid using high TC. How high is the limit, I don't exactly know.

:shifty: I never go over x32 and I've gotten that bug on at least two patrols. And it is a bug ... 'though I have no idea what causes it.

Weird indeed then. I always use 1024 on long transfers and 256 while hunting, and I've never seen that one :06:
Another thing is that base time and "local time" are always the same.
unfortunatly is my case even in 255 or 500 the AM hours ends up be at night and PM in the morning after couple days... for example just moving from midway to Jap is more than enough for that to happen.
this issue isn't down to any mod because it happen to vanila (so no mods at all)

Did you by any chance alt+tab out of the game and back?

I'm afraid not the case... simply full screen all the time for hours.
I've reinstalled SH4 1.5 from scratch couple days ago and I'm now just using TMO and its patch and this day time desynchronisation carry on happening.
going above 1k... up to 2.5k or 4k then is almost imediatly after few days PM is in the morning and AM at night :/
I've been searching for a mod that fix this issue but don't think that it exists yet
BTW I had same issue with SH4 1.4 so isn't just down to 1.5
Cheers
edit:
it is easy to spot the day/time desynchronisation check the time that sun raise then set a course and hit the time speed, it gradually increments. Instead of raising at 7AM it start to raise at 8 then 9 etc... soon the sun raises at 11PM and goes on and on. And there is no way to reset the thing back to normal until start new mission.
I can't swear to this but I think the bug only happens to me when I am based out of Midway/Pearl. I am back at Brisbane now and don't see the bug. It seems to be and east/west thing, not north/south.

How can you find time to play w/o going over 32x TC? I think I'd still be working at steaming out of the harbor if it were not for TC.
Same here. I regularly use the 8081 TC to get to an area. And that's on my old 2.8 P4 Dell with a 7600GS card.

I'm mostly retired ... when I do work, it's at home. So I just let the game run while doing other things. If I'm in enemy waters but not near a traffic lane, and not in my patrol area, and not near a reported convoy sighting (and, consequently, not paying close attention), I change "AirEnemyDetected" and "EnemyDetected" in the "Main.cfg" file to zero ... so as to not get sunk while AFK.
The only drawback to changing the detection settings to zero is that, if you're submerged, somebody will call out a "new" sighting every time you raise the periscope ... and then the game pauses. Not much of a problem if it's only one or two ships (two pauses) but you don't want detection set to zero if you're attacking an entire convoy.
Before shutting down for the night (real time), I run the game ahead at x32 ... saving when game time reaches about 8:00 a.m.
