Simple. locate cmputil in your mod tools folder and copy it over to graphics.

open a text editor and add the line:
cmputil 3d filename.j3d

save as 'will install files.bat' and run it with all the graphic files in the graphics folder.

Now open the DB editor and open the 3d tab (it looks like a green cube). Find the model you want with the search function or add a new one and copy the file name in. To animate the prop dbl click on the list to the right.

Well here to start wrapping up the new fleet of Midget Subs for DW, here is the Yugoslav 'Sava' class sub. Some sources call these midgets while others patrol subs, you decide...

Specifications, Sava class:The lead boat of the class was laid down in 1975, at S. and DE. Factory in Split; launched 1977 and commissioned as Sava, pennant no. 831, in 1978.
Displacement (srf/sub tons): 830/960
Dimensions (L*B*D meter): 55.7*7.2*5.1
Propulsion: diesel-electric, 2*Sulzer diesel 1,600hp, 2*generators 1,360hp, 1*main electric motors with 2,040hp, one shaft.
Speed (srf/sub knots): 10/16
Range (srf/sub n/miles@knots): unknown
Diving depth (meter): 300
Complement: 5officers 30 enlisted
Torpedo: 6*21" bow torpedo tubes, total of 10 torpedoes
Mines: 20 in lieu of torpedoes

Construction
An improved version of the Heroj class, built with USSR electronic equipment and armament.
The second of class Drava, no. 832, built y the same yard was commissioned in 1981 and was put on reserve in 1998.

The Iranian Nahong class midget sub. Not much is known about this boat so the weapon's outfit is conjectural; I've armed her with two 533mm fish in drop colliers (it's a safe assumption that mines also could be carried in those drop colliers as well.)

Next is the Russian Losos Project 865 'Piranya'. This big one has only two 400mm torpedoes or two PMT Mines.

Finally there is the Yugoslav Una class. Which is my first unarmed midget, its used for SOF missions incl. Deploying divers in a another even smaller 2 person midget called a 'Mala' to plant limpet mines. (and if you think that's bizarre just try typing 'Yugoslavian Midget' in to Google!)

Also I updated the DPRK P4 class boat. I added a control surface on the stern. Also I have copied the better looking torp drop colliers from the Nahong on to the Yugo. I've updated the old links for these two updated models.

Back OT: I don't have any screen shots but I did send copies of my 3d models of the Heroj class coastal sub and the Mala SDV to Molon Labe.

Currently I'm working on the Italian MG110 Midget sub which is used by Pakistan and South Korea.

Now I'm running out of midget subs to make! I plan on making the DPRK Sang-O and a Cuban midget that has cropped up in the form of a single tiny picture on the net. After that there is not many more midgets from the post WWII period. There is a few X Craft and the USS X-1 but those were both retired long before the 1st playable unit in DW was built so it doesn't make much sense to add them in. :hmm2: If someone knows of any feel free to post a message (images would be great)

This might be best split to another thread (do so if need be), but I was wondering if any late WWII era subs might be worthy of inclusion into DW. The idea or "precedent" for this, if you can call it that, was some stories years ago that drug cartels were interested in acquiring them. That also reminds me of the current narco subs (semi subs) that are being used right now. They are comparable to the midgets in size, and would be great in drug enforcement missions.

Finally, while it's been out for a while, the recent coverage of the M80 Stiletto had me dreaming of seeing it in DW too. It's also meant for use against the drug trade. Perhaps their behavior could be based on the stock hovercraft?

Anybody updating the Chinese surface and sub Fleet? New models that is of 093, 094, Type 052C, type 051, etc. So far the new Song model and Kilo models look great. You guys do excellent work.

I do have models of the US Navy's Guppy class SS(K/G) which maybe included in the future. That would be great! The conning towers are a bit higher than the WWII subs I was thinking of, but I suppose it's more reasonable to believe these could survive for use today. I hope you, or some of the other fine modelers here, consider the Stiletto and Littoral ships as well. They would be nice additions for the current pirate/drug era.

Well of them only the Riga succeeded to the addition on the 3d.grp file. The others cause a crash of the DwEdit when I go to introduce their filenames (just verified they're correct) in the proper fields on the j3d viewer... When I accept the modification by double-clicking up the drop-down list's corresponding name, the program crashes... Verified up the Kotlin, Lama, Turya, Zulu, Whiskey and Zulu new 3D models of yours...
Of the Lama I personally exported the j3d from my 3d studio max...but it fails...

Why that? Too many polys or else?

Ah those were old files. There is a problem with transparncys that I used for the masts and props (I was lazy). I've since removed those and added true polygonal masts in my new verson of the models. The models that work have all been posted in this thread or have been send directly to ML.

Sorry but it would not. The J3d converter I have (to convert .j3d to .3ds) dosn't work with .dds texture files that all the playables use. Hey guys,

I know this is a necro-thread. I downloaded the Yugo Midget Sub model - followed the instructions a couple of pages previous.

I got it into DW Edit (replacing the NK Sang-O Midget Sub) - even got the prop animated - clicked Apply and Save - but it still doesn't appear in the game or the USNI reference.

Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

@Stewy1 are you using DWX? if yes you have to replace the model "midget sub",
because 3d model SangO is the vietnamnese one not the nk one.

The model looks great (Thanks TLAM!) - much better than the default midget sub! :ping:

Props and testing its Torpedo launch work great (it sank my Trafalgar - I was pinging at Flank speed to see if it would shoot)
