View Full Version : 2009 Subsim Werewolf Hunt Ticker: Unhappy Hour at Mercy's Inn

At the risk of sounding like an egomaniac, you forgot the occasions where we characters used out-of-the-ordinary methods to try to tilt the odds: Oberon's little trick with the wolfsbane, for instance, or the fact that I wasn't screaming in Norwegian! As I remember it was more like:
"*snarl*" ==> "*angry shout*" ==> "*twang of tripwire*" ==>"*BOOOOM!!*" (followed probably by werewolf whimpering due to burns)
Proof: signal flares + brandy + fish oil + rusty old trawler + crazy smuggler who knows how to rig ropes =:sunny:
Also, would it be a good time to cough up, or summarize, whatever game-related PMs we have? Just the significant ones, of course: I've no desire to be inundated by a hundred different PM posts.

Absolutely tremendous write up AVSM
Love it AVSM!
Your demise was spectacular SC, just bloody annoying that I didn't notice it until the same night I died :damn:
Another trick I meant to use but should have done from the start was tracking, it's winter, snow on the ground, unless blizzards are in the area, there should have been a nice set of tracks to follow right back to the transformation area, where there should have been a nice set of human prints to track back to their place of origin. :yeah:
But that would have been pushing the envelope a bit too much I think :haha:

Nisgeis votes Penelope_Grey no idea why he doesn't just kill Pinguin or someone during the night, since he won't have anyone guarding him.
Because it was clear that You, Mookie and PG were a voting block and that you were all pretty sure of your own IDs. Jimbuna said in a PM that he thought the remaining wolf was ashore, as did Weiss Pinguin. My only chance was to reduce the block of three votes, by getting one of you lynched. I could not attack anyone in the U-13, as they were the only way I could win. Weiss Pinguin said he thought it was AVSM, so I said we should vote for PG, as even though I don't think she's a WW, she's too distracting. If Jimbuna could have been persuaded to vote for PG, or if Mookie or AVSM had been late, then I would have offed PG (Booo! Extensions! Booo! :DL ). Then, as Weiss Pinguin already thought it was AVSM, I would have voted with him. Jimbuna was the key. His not voting saved you all! The extension killed my chances dead.
Oooh, I died up by the tower, I wondered where I died. At least it was somewhere cool

For dark humour points, you could put the lynching pole in the school playground. :D
It is in the schoolyard, see the post in the bottom right corner of the playground? :D
You still didn't mention the bloody tie on Day 7....
SandyCaesarHmm. I'd always thought that Jimbuna moved his boat further out to sea sometime...:hmmm:
Lol, yeah, he says he did, I was waiting for him to say he was going to dive it to the bottom and ride out the night there. Then I would have told the 4 werewolves on his boat during their next attack, they had to attack someone on U-13 :o
... I could not attack anyone in the U-13, as they were the only way I could win.
Yay, and that's why I opted to add one layer of complexity by having Kamp/Vanvikan/U-13 groups :yeah:
Wow, I must have been a strongman...you said that as I passed by the enlisted barracks I would not be fishing any more...yet the body is way down on the beach...guess I put up a good fight for an old fella huh.....
:D
Weiss Pinguin
02-18-09, 11:22 AM
Good summary, AVSM. :yeah: But...
Weiss Pinguin attempts to confuse me by "admitting" to have been attacked. My brain melted for a while at that point.
... You'll have to help me with this one...

Don't be too harsh on me....I only missed one vote and that was due to unforseen extenuating circumstances
I did challenge the appropriatness/validity of the extension. :yep:

[quote=Nisgeis]Don't be too harsh on me....I only missed one vote and that was due to unforseen extenuating circumstances
Wasn't meant to be a criticism :salute: , lots of people missed votes and attacks. I just find it really interesting that in a way, the votes not placed and attacks not made were sort of more pivotal than the attacks and votes that were made :DL .
Thinking about it some more, if there's a tie, lynch them both! That would keep the game moving, stop it going stale in the end game and also add another layer of strategy.

To each one of you that portrayed in this SUBSIM Werewolf Hunt story I salute you :salute: for what I thought was a tremendous job.  :yeah:
Starting 02/08/09 I started reading each post and was totally engrossed in the story lines sometimes gripping my chair thinking "Oh no not him you idiot it was her". :DL Through out the story the more I was fascinated the way you people carried the story.
I had RL things to do that made me three days behind the story when I started reading again being careful avoiding up dates on this thread as I did not want the story ruined and then it happened. Page 40, post #787 there was a certain Lady that changed her signature to:
I SURVIVED THE FIRST EVER SUBSIM WEREWOLF HUNT - and... I actually won the game for the humans too!
But that's life and it was not the first time that's happened to me nor will it be the last.
So I ask that in the next game at the ending that maybe you and or others do not put something like that in your signature but if you must brag ( we all do sometime :03: ) then put it in a couple post on another thread.
Tis OK though Penelope I still think you were a great player.
Hey Elder-Pirate,
Very kind words and i noticed your signature, did you serve on board that ship?

Hey Elder-Pirate,
Very kind words and i noticed your signature, did you serve on board that ship?
Yes I did Chad as a Electricians Mate third class, may of 1956 through dec. 16th 1957. She was then stationed at Key West, Fla. Dog Dock.
At this time ( also time pic was shot ) she was EDD ( Experimental Destroyer ) instead of a DD. She experimented with "Homing Torpedoes" and "Mark 5 Radar"
Man that Mark 5 Radar was only off about two feet at 5000 feet using 5" 38's ( 5" diameter, 38 foot long barrel ) . Then there was a training day we were shooting live ammo at the "Sleeve" on a 500 ft. steel cable behind what I think was a Navy SJ-1 Trainer ( not to sure of that but I think it was. ) Someone messed up on the calibration of the "Mark 5" and we shot the tail right off that training plane, navy LT. ( pilot ) bailed out and was picked up OK ( just wet and MAD AS HELL :rotfl: )
The ole man ( Sarsfields Captain ) got chewed and WE got chewed and no liberty in port for three days :damn: ( we had a three day lib. coming up ) Lots of good times on that old girl. :rotfl:
A few years ago she was sold to Taiwan.
Here is a little read on her: http://www.ussjpkennedyjr.org/sarsfield837.html
That's awesome :) Thank you for your service :DL
For awhile last summer I contemplated joining the navy, but decided to continue for my 4 year degree.. But I haven't ruled it out, I'm considering finishing it and then joining and going through Officer Training School..
I dunno, but that's pretty cool about your history :yeah:

Weird, I thought I was a malnourished, jittery wreck. What happened to the tower?
Anyways, I don't think it would be very hard for people just to play differently. No wait, that makes no sense. Maybe there should be less wolves, since they all know who are the masterminds that will lynch them all in the end.

Lesrae was a special case. On the 2nd day, he PMed me and said he has some real life issues that meant he would not be able to play.
Yeah, I'm sorry about the hassle there Neal - you handled it very well in the story, and in real life too
Not wishing to hijack, basically my wife and I have separated in the last couple of weeks. It looks pretty final but we're still friendly and it's a 50/50 blame thing.

Hey, I just noticed (kinda belatedly): neither of our two suicides are in the pictures. Both XabbaRus and lesrae are nowhere to be seen (as is our resident NPC, Gus).:06: Unless this was intentional...
Poor XabbaRus and lesrae; the sad innocents
who, by their own hand, caused their death
for they loathed life and scorned their fate.
Fools! They repent too late and long to
revive the bodies they forsook and toil
in all their former poverty and pain so they
could view the light of the sky and breathe
the air above.
Divine decree forbids it and the dismal floods
tie their souls down and the nine fold rivers
of the Styx surround them.
-Vergil

I can quite understand why I'm not in it, I hardly had time to develop any sort of in-game personality or characteristics before I had to drop out, so there's nothing to caricature.
One day I'll be immortalised in cartoon form, just you wait and see :)
