Just wondering what new features you think should be a priority for new cargo ships - I have several improvements in the works (although I can't promise anything!) and I wanted to know what features you would be most interested in seeing. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to post them.

My vote for cargo and lifeboats... But it would be best to do this as optional mods and release later - MFM is WiP for a very long time...;)

By the way, the results give us 150% of votes. I wonder what mark do those IT masters had from maths in 5th class...:88)

EDIT: They gave when just 3 people woted. Now they give about 200% ( just a guess... )

Freiwillige, can ou see the options now?

The %ages do not add up because you can vote for multiple options.

And BTW - i realize that some of these features have already been added to the merchantmen in GWX, so no disrespect intended to those modders.

Other ideas to chuck about:

Water pumps
Water steams from holes in the side of the ships by the same method as the water
stream mods for the U-boats, yet easier to implement as there will only be 1-4 holes
per ship.

Smoke variation
As per the smoke mods

Unique ship features
If you can randomize cargo could you create some false cargo that appears not as
boxes on the deck, but as non-cargo features. i.e. One cargo type could add an
extension to part of the bridge so that one ship will randomly have several different
appearances. Another random feature could be cargo nets down the sides of ships or
canvas covers on the deck.

Less ugly spotlights
Because those solid white beams of light just look daft.

Some hollowed out rooms
So that windows on the bridge are not just textures.

Jetsam
Ships leave a very light trail of empty cans, turds and domestic debris behind them.
Despite being against regulation, this did happen and could be implemented a little
like the life boats, but always on.

Seagulls
Near fishing boats. No idea if this is possible.

I voted for lifeboats, just because I want to see some of your real lifeboats (as opposed to rubber rafts. I also voted for more deck cargoes, but what I really meant is less stuff on deck. A lot of ships did travel with nothing topside, especially the smaller ones.

I liked the smoke mods, that havent gotten finished. Not that IABL has to do those but I think it would add to the realism!

Survivors & lifeboats here as well. They add a lot to immersion IMO.

I voted lifeboats/survivors, more deck cargoes, and other. Other would be crewmembers, if that's possible. (Albeit maybe not destructible... That seems a bit much IMO)

By destructable crewmember do you mean enhanced jazz like the guys blasted into the water, or something new like guys on-fire jumping into the water?

gordonmull

Destructable crew men! They're only shipwrecked sailors when they're in the water, till then they're the ENEMY :arrgh!:

Seriously, though, if they could be made to pop their clogs while doing their "sitting in a small inferno" routine, that would save a few headaches.

I vote for more deck cargoes and fire effects.
Others: In other thread you spoke about influence of cargo in sinking times. Can this be implemented in ships?

More deck cargoes would be cool http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/thumbsup.gif

Turds, why turds for christ sake - is taking the mod a tad far, why not discarded apple cores or cigarette packets! I mean no insult but was amused at the prospect of navigating through......Turds

Well I vote for more variety in smoke and damage affects, not so fussed about deck cargo or lifboats - I know its supposed to add a bit of realism, but usually I dont spend too much time hanging around watching lifeboats or the geezers in them.

I did find it a nice touch however, when after re-surfacing after taking a pounding, I surfaced in the middle of some debris - barrels and box's, I thought that was a very nice touch, perhaps this could be expanded upon.

Overall I vote for much more variety in explosions, smoke and fire affects - And I also vote for the immediate release of the merchant fleet mod, with additional items to be optional addons.

My two cents worth

Will you release the mod friday as planned?:hmmm: ? I dont have seen much activity in the last two days:shifty: ....

I have posted my vote above, and agree mostly with those above- ie a general need for more realism as merchants (and warships to some extent) look like ghost ships or the marie celeste floating along!
More crew activity, better damage effects from fire, and slags would be good (the flag on the u boat in MEG mod is good I think).

Thanks for your efforts.

Slags! Flags I meant although a few slags for the sailors wouldnt go amiss!!! :sunny:

I vote for more varied types of survivors. How hard would it be to animate the lowering of the lifeboats? That would be cool.:hmmm:

I think we should reccommend that no Turds be represented, on any scale OK!

Can we return to the buisiness at hand ie the poll, looks like more explosions and damage affects are ahead

I didn't mean turds the size of icebergs, but normal sized turds that slowly drift like the icebergs.

Iambecomelife,
Could you elaborate on the poll choices a little more?

Oh no cant we just like drop the turds thing! - I just had to pick myself off the floor from laughing, must be my irreverent southern hemisphere type humour

I for one do not want to sail my brand new national socialist U-boat through seas of heaving tommy turds - no matter how big or small

More "destructable" structures. So when you are shelling a vessel, small bits fly off or holes are punchhed in the superstructure/hull etc.
