could someone tell me which software is good for skinning and modelling please.
i d love to have a crack at it. cheers.

Personally I use Paint.net and Gimp for texturing, and misfit for modeling. All of these are free.
Paint.net is easier to use but Gimp has got much more functions in it.
There are many other editors out there, these are just the ones I use.

Darkfish, you and I are of one mind. I use Misfit and Gimp as well, when it comes to layers, i use photoshop.

Photoshop CS4 here. The new 3D features make skinning very easy as you can load up the 3D model to Photoshop and paint directly to the model if you want to. Also, you can add effects to the skin in realtime, reflections etc.

But then again, buying PSCS4 just for skinning is a waste of money. :)
