Starting OUT of the Pens?

Is their a way to ensure that you will ALWAYS start outside of the pens in career mode? I ask because I am going to try a career commanding a pocket battleship, and as you can imagine, starting inside the pens with a battleship has VERY catastrophic results, so if anyone can help me out, please do.

SH3 commander has that option, though there is a separate mod for it.

Just tick the 'Start at sea' option in SH3 Commander, if you use it.
