Well, I have just finished a long campaign using TMO 163 with the RSRDC mod. I used "New Construction '42" and all of my missions were "Anti-Shipping", very boring, to say the least. My question is, are there any other kinds of missions when using RSRDC? I have read all of the readme's and I noticed that these kinds of missions were reduced, but like I said, I did not have any other kind of mission other than "anti-shipping". I also may have found a bug, I started a new campaign using "New Constrution '43", with the Balao class and my first "sea trial" was to go patrol off the china coast! I also noticed that during my first long carrer that I was never offered a command of a "Tench class", is there some trick to get one? I have enjoyed this mod very much, but I think I will give the "default" TMO campaign a go. I was just curious to any others if they perfer one campaign to another?
Happy Hunting.

I'm curious about this too.

I have been playing all the TMO's with all the applicable RSRDC's for months. I don't recall ever having a special mission--may have but don't remember them. TMO 1.6.3 by itself has a mix of special missions and shipping missions.

I've seen a few threads on similar issues now in the last few days and have to wonder myself. So far, most don't seem to agree with me but again, I wonder due to the posts I'm seeing. I posted a thread on this after seeing some of these same type issues pop up in a few threads. Here's what I'm speaking of.... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147459 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=147459) What this deals with is how the new TMO assigns missions depending on the home base. Some bases give you more "special ops" missions, compared to none at others. The majority say's that RSRDC overwrites these objectives, but I tend to to go hmmm? :hmm: Again, the thread explains.... I hope Lurker reads this and can tell us definitively. Either way, if you desire the special ops missions, TMO only may be what you are looking for. I use RSRDC and don't recall a special ops mission in a good while either, but then again, I keep Midway as my home base.

I have checked over and over and I have noticed that "RSRDC", is optional. I guess it is "whatever floats your boat", as it were. It is a nice add-on, but I am liking the choice of different campaign options that is provided with TMO.
Peace out!

SpecOps Missions

RSRDC has a number of Special Operations missions. These missions are generated at historical dates and to the different Sub Commands that they were assigned too. The vast majority of these missions are given to subs that deployed from Australia, the mission types include Coast Watcher insertion, guerrillas re-supply / insertion and Down Pilot missions. The only SpecOps missions for all Pearl Harbor subs (except Narwhal) are pre-invasion reconnaissance missions. If you are hot for Special Operations missions then you need to select the Narwhal class boats, as this type conducted a large number of special missions during there careers.

When RSRDC installs it overwrites “ALL” the Objectives and replaces “ALL” missions and campaign layers.

One final comment, if you’re dissatisfied with my work then don’t use it, or learn how to create mods and make your own that meet what ever requirements you have.

Thanks for clearing that up for us Lurker. BTW, I highly respect and appreciate your work. What makes it a blast to me is, that I have a list of historical naval battles, and when I start a patrol I check the list to see if there are any battles within the current time frame, and if there are, I'll finish my first objective and proceed to intercept the battle. That is so cool. Of course some folks might call it a cheat, I call it FUN! Thanks again for all your efforts. :salute:

Lurker, what Soundman said. Also, some may not choose to use your mod, but believe me no one using it is dissatisfied with it. It's an amazing addition to the game.

Hey, I was reading through the posts about RSRD and someone had posted a list of all of the battles that were included in the mod so someone could compare it to history. Does anybody remeber where that post was or where there is a list of all the battles and missions that RSRD covers?

Great mod

I never thought of doing what you do. I would occasionally stumble across a battle, but I think I'll try that, sounds like fun.

Can Lurker confirm that after the sea trials and transfer to another flotilla I'll see normal RSRDC patrols?

I believe I can confirm that. I started new construction, and if I remember correctly completed that first mission by refueling at Midway. As I recall (that was more than a dozen missions ago) I was then transferred to Midway. After a half dozen patrols out of there I xferred myself to Brisbane. I am currently there having jsut completed my 18th patrol. I have had two special missions so far. I should mention, a couple of my patrols were non events, e.g. when xferred from one base to another the first mission is usually unrealistic, like patroling Japan from Birsbane or something. When that happens I just immediately return to port. The next assignment is then based on wherever your are and makes sense.

Thank you very much for finding this bug. It was a major screw up on my part. Patch 1 is up that corrects this problem

Yes it does. You are transfered to SubPac
