Ahoy Mateys,

Ran into a sand bar with the installation using XP.

I have followed the instructions but when loading I go through the opening howls, the standard intro video and then the GWX load screen comes on.

When the peogress bar gets to about 70% I get a ding and progress stops.

Doing a ctrl/alt/del shows a message behind thus:-

"Warning - There is a new (Not Implemented) page (Page Ingame Options)"

I click ok and get another warning:-

"Menu ID not found: 0x100008!"

Clicking ok on this gives me the Dear Bill option and everything disappears.:hmm:

I have run SH3 once before installing GWX and all seems ok with the standard edition.

Any help offered will be greatly appreciated.:)

You have a corrupted menu 1024_768 ini file; Did you install GWX 3.0 into a fresh, unmodified new install of SHIII, patched to 1.4b?, and check the MD5 hash on the download?
If not, you need to start over

Thanks for the reply Irish1958.

I did follow instructions to the letter, actually printed off the installation page from the manual and ticked off each item as I did it.

Can anyone enlighten me or point me to how MD5 hash works? Never heard of this fangled stuff before.

I downloaded the one exe all incompassed and then tried the bin file approach and they all gave me the same result.:arrgh!:

Thanks again.

Download the MD5 file checker from Jones Soft. You then obtain the MD5 number from the download site of the file you are checking, and then enter it into the MD5 file checker, and it will tell you if you have a valid or corrupt file. http://jonesoft.jaennahre.com (http://jonesoft.jaennahre.com/)
Again, the error message means your menu 1024 file is corrupt.

Thanks again Irish1958, downloads all proved ok. I have tried a completely fresh install but getting the same result.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix a corrupt 1024_768 ini file?:arrgh!:

Thanks.

I am not sure how to do this. Are you using XP or vista? Any mods?
I would probably start over:
delete the game with the install disc, clean your registry with a good cleaner, check and remove any residual files in the Ubisoft directory, delete the folder SH3 in your My Documents folder, reinstall the game with the disc, patch it to 1.4b, (using the correct patch for your type of install), then install the GWX3.0 files.
If this doesn't work repost and someone will know what to do.
