The thing is I just downloaded gwx 3.0, now rubinis mod, thomsens ship I am not certain if it even runs under gwx30, there is a new waterstream??

Lots of mods run with GWX3. Possibly not all well, but I have more than a dozen I'm using, including Water Streams, Exhaust Smoke For Water Streams, AIL's Small Moon Mod, Das Boot Clothes Mod, Das Boot Officer Icons, Simfeeling 6 Dials Mod, Das Boot Sound Mod, and several more I can't think of right now.

Just be careful and use JSGME, and you should be fine.

Most of the mods for 2.1 will be fine for 3.0

As has been stated before,
3.0 is mostly a Rolled into one update.
With a few tweaks here and there.
Those tweaks don't affect mods like the water stream and such.

The added particals stuff broke the original stuff to begin with.
Why worry about them now?
