having trouble with recog manual and the periscope lock.i find a contact and try to lock on.it does'nt seem to want to stay locked.then when i hit the "identify contact button" on the taskbar, it shows the type of ship on the position keeper like it should ,but if i try to use the recog manual after this,it gets rid of my periscope lock and the name of the ship on the position keeper.i have to keep scrolling the heading and clicking the "L" key over and over while trying to hit the i.d. key on the taskbar only to lose my lock again.this is especially frustrating when there are multiple contacts at the same time.i dont know if i'm not close enough to the target or what it is..any ideas to help with this? thank you.

:hmm: After identifying the target, try opening the recognition manual, flipping to the correct page, and clicking on the check box. Click on it again if the target ID doesn't show up in the TDC window the first time.

I've had that happen when at edge of range...does it do the same when close in, 'cause I'm also running TMO 1.62 and no issues.

it probably has to do with range outside 10,000. in the stock game, yeah it will keep lock no matter how far,TMO 1.62 seems to be different.i'm just havin problems 'cause i'm using manual targeting with no stablized view through the periscope.it is a pain in the butt to i.d. the target w/ no stable view and other contacts surrounding it.especially when i cannot keep a steady lock on the enemy boat.others would argue to just use that dick so -and -so targeting method,or something of the like.i'm pretty terrible at math so,that's outta the question.gotta do it the old fasioned way for now.just hopin someone can shed some light on how that i.d. target hotkey works.it seems to override the need for the recognition manual, which is great, but i cant keep a lock on it.so i gotta keep poppin out with the telescope waaaay too often.only a matter of time before the escorts spot me.

The solution I have is to watch the "lock" indicator and as soon as it turns off hit "L" again to re-lock it. Then it seems to hold long enough for a long-range ID. Hope it works for you...
