Hi guys,

I'm still trying to download a correct GWX3, but each time my MD5 hash doesn't match. :damn:

However, perseverance is key, so when I do eventually get it what mods do you recommend for it?

With the previous GWX I had OLC's Environment mod etc., the pack of ships that were available (name escapes me), torpedo damage, Thomsens Water mod (looked cool!), the waterstream mod, lifeboats etc.

But, since the launch of version 3.0 there are various environment-combi mods, periscope mods etc. For example, do I need OLC's Ubermod for GWX?

Please can you help me out here, I've been away from SH3 for a few months and I've now got a few days spare so would like to get it re-installed (following a Windows problem) with the best mods available.

Cheers all !

What sort of mods do you have in mind?

GWX3.0 comes ready with it's own set of mods and Contact above has listed some.

:rotfl: it's not a link. It translates like: Dead is Dead. It is a style of play, not a mod or something. It means that when you die you begin a brand new career instead of loading your game back from previous save or patrol. :)

Thanks for the replies guys, and Contact I would RTFM - if only I could download it !! :damn:

F*&£*%g Filefront is useless today! - Everything I have tried to download has failed - even the manual - not bad considering I'm on a 10MB link, yet FF gave me a 1-2kbps speed - then dropped it after about 20 minutes!

Another problem - when using a download manager (the one with Firefox) the MD5's don't match - guess it's the file break up and simultaneous downloads of each part??

So when I get the manual I will read it...:yep:

So, as I said perseverance is the key here.....I'll just have to keep trying. Going to be fun getting GWX at this rate!

Strange.. Are you on wireless connection or you having a dead slow connection from a provider ? :-? FF was a peace of **** when it denied direct downloads from it to certain countries some period of time. Had to use proxy's to bypass IP checks. Now this problem gone, I can download everything from FF with no problems.

I know there are problems with some internet providers in UK which constantly monitors what stuff you're downloading by tracking file extensions and blocking them to support anti-piracy policy. But I have no idea does it has something to do with your problem.

PM your e-mail and I will send you the manual at least :)

Thanks for the kind offers of help guys, but I'm going to DL everything from the office tomorrow.

We have a much faster link there, and I downloaded GWX2.1 from there last time around.

It's funny though, I can usually DL things at home at an average 550-600kbps, but with Filefront it drops to practically zero.

As for torrent, to be honest I've never used it ()

I do have wireless here, but all day I've been physically connected via CAT6 cable and everything else if fast (except FF :nope:).

Cheers again guys, hopefully tomorrow evening I'll actually be installing GWX3.0!

So it's obviously a FF limitation then :)
For the sake of interest you may want to try downloading via proxy: http://www.freeproxy.ca/Browse.html

you will need to copy paste url link of FF to the special space of chosen proxy site.

Note: some of them may be already blocked so keep trying if you have time to mess with it :)

Well guys, I finally managed to get hold of GWX3.0 !!

I ran the DL from the office, but chose the .BIN files and their MD5 matches, so at least I have a complete download.

I've been flicking through the manual (well, on-screen at least), but forgive me if I've missed this, but I can't tell if I need to install OLC's Ubermod 2.4.3 - or just the OLC GUI 1.2.7. Can someone clarify this? I know many aspects of his work were incorporated into GWX3, but is it advisable to add the whole thing on top, or is only the GUI required etc.?

On that note, how about many of the new combi-mods - like Mikhayl's, or makman's env-combi (wac3-olce2) for example?

Also, Thomsens Water - can (or should) it be used?

I read (on here) that I can add the Waterstream mod with GWX3, and the Community Ships mod, but are there any pitfalls I should be aware of?

Finally (lot of questions I know!), is it possible to use any of Tomi's excellent subs with GWX3.0?? they are works of art, but I've never been confident enough to add them to GWX2.1 for fear of breaking something ! Are they compatible with GWX3? - and if so, what do you recommend?

Cheers guys, I'm stuck at the office still typing this, and will hopefully be installing everything when I get home. Quiet night tonight so it's perfect !!

Thanks again,

I can tell you that Lifeboats & Debris v4 seems to work alright with GWX 3.0. I've had it for a few days now & haven't encountered any problems. It's available here:http://http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=134988. The Community Units mod is "iffy". Some people report no problems and others like myself just can't get it to work: the game crashes every time that the mod is enabled. I don't know about Thomsen's water as I don't use that mod. I remember reading that OLCE "breaks" the polygon fix that was incorporated into 3.0 so I haven't used it.

Hope this helps...:)

P.S. The No Morse Code is useful if you're tired of the Morse Code in GWX. See this thread: http://http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=146452

I personally use Lifeboats and Community units with no problems, although I'm not quite sure if my CM is up to date. I've now also got the Waterstreams/Exhaust kombimod working, so happy happy happy in my pants
