If, in my first go at a convoy, I manage to run an escort out of DC's and then setup for another attack (following the 50km rule)...will he still be out of them when I return to take a few more of his sheep out?

I believe yes but this is a rather peculiar strategy.;)

Go in there and find out.

Never tried that myself so would be interesting/useful
to know.

Why do you say that? I'm not saying I puposefully sit around while the escort pounds me! :rotfl: It just happens that, sometimes while trying sneak away for a breath and reload, he will hound me until he's out...and then some. Once you've made your run there really isn't any way to catch them again, and reload, and not run out of battery and air...and "be wery, wery qwiet" (Elmer Fudd) in the process.

I've always found it best to get away, surface and get everything ready for another run while you get ahead of them again. I just want to be sure this guy isn't magically going to reload his DC's while I'm gone.

GWX 3.0 BTW...forgot to mention that.

I'm about to...and the lone escort ran out of DC's on my last run. Only 2 fish left (1 fore and 1 aft) so this will be my "parting shot" to a very nice early war convoy.

Stay within rendering range and all should be as you left it
Move outside rendering range then back in and the convoy will be as new

Are we talking the "50km" rule?

I think 8 km or 16 km depending on your setup.
Interesting conversation, will try this when the situation occurs.

OK i understand, but IMO the parameter of uncertainty and is half the fun.

Actually I think rendering range is 30 km (50?), could be wrong though. The default 8 or modded 16 km view is just that, your view. I think. :hmm:

Hmmm...I must get at least 50 km away from ships I have sunk, to prevent them "respawning" but stay within this, as yet uncertain, rendering range? That should make my usual convoy tactic quite interesting! :o

Tomfon...how's this for uncertainty? The Destroyer I was sure was out of DC's on my first run seemed to be in perfect health...enough to end my career, on my 2nd run! :p Granted...there were some stupid decisions made, on my part...but...

I don't know, now, if he was REALLY out of DC's after my 1st run, as I originally thought, or if I exceeded the "rendering range rule" (re-arming him) while trying to maintain the "50 km rule" (so my kills wouldn't respawn)...or what. :hmm:

This little test will have to continue after I respawn in Wilhelmshaven! :rotfl:

And what's with the double spacing on this post of mine???

If the escort was initially pot of cans he would continue to make attacking passes over you whilst his sensors were alerted to your position.

When you have saved outside of the rendering range, upon booting up your save you have given the game engine the go ahead to respawn everything back to its original/pre attack state.

The escort is now looking for you with a fully replenished and fully operational (if previously damaged) weapons system.
