I was unhappy with the models for all the above ships. They will be released with entirely different models later.

Also, you have an email about JScones' modded ship names.cfg - I would like to see if you can help me out with something.

I'm running a lot of mods with no issues until I try the MF Mod. When I enable via JSGME , I don't even get any 'overwrite' messages so I cannot figure what's wrong...I even tried re-downloading the mod in case it was corrupted .

Originally, I thought it might be an compatibility issue with the M35B & M36B, because I think those are included with GWX. I removed them in the 'Englishnames' CFG but it didn't help.

I'm similar issues, but it is only when firing up a patrol in my campaign.:hmm:

One thing in addition to what I posted in my PM, Hellraiser - IIRC you had asked to test the improved model of the Liberty Ship and the "Victor Ross" before release. Did you disable these mods before trying to install the MFM? If the Liberty Ship and "Victor Ross" files were not overwritten then I suspect that they may be the problem. The original version of its .eqp file did not contain armament info for all dates; this causes CTD's on some installs of SH3. Can you copy and paste the contents of the files T01A.eqp, T08B.eqp, and NLL_.eqp in a message on this thread?

Are any other mods installed on the installation that is crashing? Also, when you say they occur "only" during patrol - does that mean that you have successfully examined all of the ships in Museum, with no problems?

Thanks; letting me know if/when museum crashes can tell me what type of error is involved - bad eqp files, an uncloned vessel clashing with parent unit, and so on...

Thanks for your interest. :up: It's basically the testers examining the ships for modeling errors and checking for any CTD's during gameplay. i want the release to be as stable as possible when it comes out.

Game also started without surprises - now on GWX 2.1.
I'm preparing installation GWX 3.0 and will continue tests.

Someday my wife will find me dead near my comp and my periscope;).

There are many other ship mods out there. For example, I had the converted sh4 units working perfectly in my install. After I loaded up the beta MercFleet for testing; Museum and career started Crashing. No complaints, I uninstalled and put aside the Sh4 units for later individual testing.. They were most likely caused by ID collisions.. Also the T09,T13 that comes with GWX3_StNazaire addon need to be deleted before installing the beta. That got rid of some CTDs for me.
(No problems whatsoever in clean GWX3+Beta Merchant Fleet)

Basically other addon ships need to be ID checked (somehow) and tested because IABL's pack has a lot of ships, they look great/sink properly, havent had a chance to report a bug yet :up: Grats IABL.

Today I went in and manually added about 85% of the ships in the MF-Mod manually, i.e. I dropped them into the Data/Sea folder individually and didn't enable them via JSGME....they seem to work...I can now view them in the museum. I left out the M35, M36 and the NLL_ ships along with one or two others. I suspect it might be a conflict with one or more of these ships.

I still have many other mods enabled via JSGME, including the older SH4 to SH3 ships pack.

I'm going to try & play my existing current career tonight without adding the rest of the ships & see if that works...wish me luck!

There was a problem with the M36B ( type=102 in the MFM but type=100 in GWX 3 )\M21 ( mixed type= in both cfgs ) and T14B ( mixed type= in both cfgs ) which the fix Iam released cured

Am experiencing CTDs with GWX 3 + MFM + St Naz\Schleuse mod but GWX 3 + MFM is stable and thats what we are here for

For the record, I strongly recommend that all beta testers experiencing problems try a clean install first; either plain SH3 v 1.4 OR SH3 plus one of the supermods - GWX or NYGM.

Ran into a convoy last night...about 70% of the ships spawned were MF-Fleet units....no issues, everything looked great!! :up: Didn't notice any framerate change at all even though these ships are much more detailed than stock ships.

I managed a PERFECT firing position ahead of the convoy on the port quarter.

Then I BOTCHED IT by exposing my periscope too much (daylight submerged attack, November 1942) and the leading escort, a 'Town' class DD spotted me and ran me down...I snapped off a quick shot and disabled him with a magnetic hit in the screws/rudder....then sunk him a few minutes later with a finishing shot from tube V.

By this time 2 'Flower' class Corvettes and a 'Black Swan' were getting close and plastered me at 55 meters with about 30 DC's as I dove. No damage, except for smashing all the crockery in the galley, but I was unable to sink any of those MF-Mod beautys because I was forced to creep away running deep....

Oooops! Got carried away with a patrol report!

But that convoy sure was beautiful!!!:rock:

You guys are gonna LOVE these ships.

Do u have too make the change manuely or is it a automatic in game script theat will make the random ships skins. And is there a need too put theam in campaing or is it a automatic proces. Good questions. I use SH3 commander to implement ship skin changes. It copies the updated skins depending on what date your career is - that way, I can simulate events like camoflage being added, etc. You do not need to add them manually to the campaign. Most versions of SH3 and its supermods have random vessel entries, so that whenever the game calls for a ship class (Tanker, Freighter) there is a % chance it will be one of the modded ships. The more modded ships, the greater likelihood that one of them will be in a convoy or single ship spawn point. After you install the mod, you don't have to do any more work except hunt them down.

@Tater - yes, that ship does have a counter stern. For a lot of the older freighters I was in fact inspired by Japanese designs b/c they can stand in for so many countries' ships. During WWI when Japan was an ally, the Japanese builders actually collaborated with the US and UK in merchant construction. Some American/British merchants were constructed in Japan, and vice versa.

And the Lawther/Latta freighter is supposed to represent a 3-island ship, except that I had trouble doing actual bow/stern islands, as opposed to raised bulwarks on the bow & stern.

Well I've been away for a long while, just upgraded my PC now I got some sort of Quad something or rather with tripple overhead wha wahs - and top of the range 3d

So I thought to pay a visit back to Subsim and behold I find IABL is almost ready to release - I've been waiting for this for ages and the screenes on this thread are fantastic - the stock ships were so much luck rubber ducks

Merchant Fleet mod plus some of the new environmental and smoke mods on the drawing board or already released will almost add up to a new game!! I'm looking forward to it-

Interesting to see when you first log on to Subsim, there are always more folks looking at SH3 boards than SH4, now therein hangs a tale

Congratualtions and best wishes to all players and modders, this game rocks and so does the Subsim community

Have run 6 patrols now using the MFM and sunk 26 different MFM units - out of 67 lol - 54 units sunk altogether and 36 non MFM units
They show pretty well as expected them too

Okay - good news & bad news, people:

Because of circumstances beyond my control, the Merchant Fleet mod has been delayed to next week at the earliest. (FYI, you have my professors to thank for that!)

The good news is that I am going to try and use the resulting time to implement some special new features on the ships. More news later...

No worries IABCL, take your time this is the bees knees and it needs all the tender loving care.

Question Will the Merchant fleet totally replace exisitng SH3 stock ships or will we have to come with seeing your works of art mixed in wtiht the stock bath toys

Please also confirm that it will be compatable with GWX3Gold which is what I imagine is most people play on.

Thanks - by the way I notice a few folks working on sxome new smoke mods for coal and other ships and a new combined enviro mod which is very good will new merchant ship fleet be compatable

Thanks for the extra screenies Mr BBW - incidently do you know if any one is modding explosions, if not I'd love to get some advise on how to do so, would love to incorporate a number of different explosions, different smoke and lighting effects along with new splinter affects and torp hits so there is some visual variety any ideas

Hi this is good news and thanks to you and the other posters on this thread for thier great screenies.

One more thing, I notice on the latest screenies that the standard stock small freighter, (Bath Toy) is still in the back ground.

Does this mean that the merchant fleet mod does not replace all stock ships and that rather the new merchants will be mixed in amongst the original stock ships

Hope you can answer this, is a pity if there has to be a mix, but I guess you may be restrained by certain limitations of the game or software itself

One more thing, I notice on the latest screenies that the standard stock small freighter, (Bath Toy) is still in the back ground.

Does this mean that the merchant fleet mod does not replace all stock ships and that rather the new merchants will be mixed in amongst the original stock ships

Hope you can answer this, is a pity if there has to be a mix, but I guess you may be restrained by certain limitations of the game or software itself

No they wont replace anything but be an addition too
Bigger variety of targets and for those using manual targetting a lil bit harder with more ship silhouettes

You could use them to replace all the stock units but as there are only about 10 merchants\liners original no point
Plus would mean either a rewrite of the campaign to take those old units out and replace with others
or
Rename the new units to overwrite the old ones
And that has its pitfalls too

I will be honest and say in 8 patrols I have seen very few of the original stock units
Mostly community built ships including the MFM

Great. From now on, ships will have HP values of about 450-650 for the most part. Some large tankers will have much more, so you'll have to actually expend torpedoes for tonnage. Modern ships will generally be in better repair & harder to destroy than older ones, although it's not a huge difference. Also, the Q-ship is extremely durable to simulate their cargoes of empty barrels & cork, which helped keep them afloat.

A couple of in-game shots from the beta-test version.

I can report that everything looks great and seems to be behaving as it should. These Ships seem to hang around longer(i.e. they linger on the surface sinking slowly) than in GWX...but my version is the orig beta....I understand that is being adjusted for the official release.

To other beta testers - it is highly unlikely that Community Units and the MFM will run together, unless you are extremely careful about appending the new ship entries. If you are relatively inexperienced at enabling mods without JSGME I do not recommend that you try to run them together. Either issues with the englishnames entries or a duplicate hex ID is apparently causing CTD's when the mods are used in conjunction with each other. I will continue investigating the compatibility issues and will update the release as soon as possible.

Easily enough to take the German cargo dat in GWX ( providing you use it ) - incarcaturb.dat
Export the TGA - incarcatura5

Redo the skins to Med cammo and make up as a seperate mod for use when in the Med
Same as the GWX - Axis Mediterranean Aircraft Skins

Or drop the finished dat into SH3commander - SH3 Commander\Flotilla\907 folder in the correct file format and SH3commander will automatically enable the med cargo when in the 29th flotilla

German cargo only has boxes and trucks
MTL has Panthers aboard but thats it
No one AFAIK has modelled GE aircraft aboard units
Germans didnt really need to ship via merchants as could fly anywhere they wanted over land they owned
Deck cargo is a lil lacking
Rowi released the GE deck cargo and DOwly released the RU deck cargo thru GWX
Not a lot done otherwise

manually add few ships to game in group of 7 or so, i know its munk work but its the only way
if the ships given error in museum, soon or later in the campaign when they are selected to appear, the game will crash

that isn't a garanty that they are bugfree , you have to test them in the campaign also (late war)

Edit : Ok...after betatesting there seems to be much work to do to translate some log-files in german for me ( just immersion for the museum). Also add the new units to SHComanders Ship displacements.cfg and Shipnames.cfg to get them randomnised......and I still have ctd´s in the museum at the british part....if I only had the time... :cry:

Some smoke is looking like stock gwx and some similar to Pascals old smokemod which i use in the moment.
I especially like the height your smoke is raising in some of your pics. Is it modded or is it just a question of perspective ?

I could not get it to load.

Also, have you tried the mod with a completely fresh SH3 1.4b or GWX install?
