Yeah, 16km atmosphere looks very well indeed.
But it would be look better with white caps of waves like in real - is it possible to create it?.
Using GWX 2.1 I had enabled Sober's 3D Waves mod, which make waves better looking, but in GWX 3.0 it doesn't work so good.

...a big part...

:shifty:

I made the whole thing FFS. It took months! A thousand customised colours, half a dozen new environment textures made from scratch, not to mention the various graphical bug fixes... then you guys reset three things to stock values (underwater visibility distance, bumpmap scale, moon reflection) and now my involvement is "a big part"? :nope:

Just messing. :p

No I'm not.

I'm not sure 'what' you did but... in addition to the new superior look....

Are the framerates better with this new enviroment in 3.0??

They seem to be much better, especially around land.

OLC, thanks for all your work
OLCE is fundamental part of GWX 3.0, before version 3.0 was absolutely must have for many player. When I discovered your OLCE I understood how it change this game, not only in visual aspect (although it looks perfect). The most important thing for me is possibility to attack convoys on surface in deep nights without detection (only when night is really dark night), like it was in real war patrols during WW2.
Thanks again.

I installed GWX 3.0 for the first time last night, as part of the testing for my mod. I got chills as I went to the external cam & looked at the horizon. OLC +GWX really captures the epic feel of the Atlantic battle like nothing else. The war rages, the Tribal's are out there somewhere hunting for you, and you may come home with 50,000 tons or not come home at all... fine work by all those involved.

Yep, it is amazing how much can people do to the game with the moding knowledge and enthusiasm they have. Every time I think that it is it they reached the limit of possibilities, moders still do something unimaginable good.

All we need is good men obviuosly

There are certain mods that fall into a different category. I can not speak of the 2 other large mods because frankly I've not used them. However I've used a fair amount and these stand out to me.

Uber: Defined as must have, must use, must see, must experience.

GWX 2.1
OLCE 2.0
RB_SH4_Effects_for_SH3_2_03
Lifeboats for SH3
Rowers for SH3
SH3 Commander

This is the perfect combination for me.

I'm still want to add the real water effects to the u-boat but this does very well.

You should be proud OLC, your work is amazing. ^5ss

It should be more whitecaps over waves in my opinion, especially when wind is 15m/sec, see "Das Boot" for instance, if you didn't see ocean during storm. I don't know if it is possible, but I'm on patrol now at North Atlantic with storm 15m/sec and I don't see any whitecaps, only black water :hmm:

I reckon there are many more could be added to that list (depending on individual preferences) but without taking sides with regard to other super mods and general mods might I suggest JSGME is more than worthy of inclusion. :hmm:

Hey, I have many more good points than that one (kudos to you for finding five ways of saying it though). I'll have you know that I'm also elitist, hypocritical, judgemental, mentally unstable, envious, and much more.

My bad points are that I've never murdered, assaulted, vandalised or stolen, and (worst of all) I can count on my fingers the number of times in my life that I've knowingly lied.

But hey, at least I'm trying to change.

I hope nobody took my little tirade the wrong way. I was just playing off of OLC's response to Jimbuna. The fact is that I also think OLC is one of the premier modders we have here.

And just to reiterate: We've never met, so I know nothing of his personal habits (which can't be worse than my own), and anything I may say or do is based purely on my own lame sense of humor.

I'd like to make a comment on the "white caps". First of all, 15 m/s isn't a storm, it's just a pesky force 7, with small to medium waves. But the same waves have white caps, all of them.

Why do I never see anything above a force 7? Fact is that sometimes when surfaced in that same force 7 the sea and wind seem much more like a force 9, but not allways.

And sometimes it looks quite diffrent, like that second screenshot from StarLion45.
There's no wind at all in that picture, however the sea might look just like that when the wind is dead and before the sea flattens again. Or even right before the wind picks up speed, with a nearby low working up the sea but the wind haven't quite reached you yet.

I guess I should stop now, and just say that it all looks very nice. I have been working the high seas all my life and had my fair share of both wind and sea, so I guess my point of view is a bit biased

It has nothing to do with gameplay and such, I really do love this game. I have 3 different clients running, vanilla, GWX and one just to mess with various mods :smug:

Happy hunting to all of you.

Part of the problem is that the game is programmed to not let the wind get above 15 m/s. In the stock version you got warnings that you couldn't man the deck gun because of the weather, and it looked like a flat calm at 7 m/s. A talented modder discovered that if he raised the winds, they defaulted back to that maximum when he reloaded the game. So he came up with the 'Big Waves' mod, which let you set them to twice the height. You can get that effect (and a whole lot more) with SH3 Commander, and when it says 15 m/s you'll see some pretty big waves.

Yeah, I know and I did just that. So now I have decent rough weather to cope with when attacking a convoy in 15 m/s. The sea brakes the sub down to 20+m all the time and I can hear the swish, swish, swish from the nearby destroyer
