All I can see is cloudless clear sky at any gwx version regardless of how much cloudy it is supposed to be. Stock sh3 1.4b works perfectly for me, beautiful clouds all over the sky.. I have tried to copy original stock sh3 nori files and no result. Any solution to my problem?

All best and happy new year!

I just took GWX 3,0 out for a spin for the first time last night, and the weather has been working perfectly for me - I've seen all sorts of cloud, wind and sea conditions (no rain yet, but a little lightning off on the horizon) in the week or so of game time that it's taken to get my little Type IIA from Kiel to my patrol grid off Aberdeen in August '39. Maybe more detail about exactly what Mods you're running or your PC specs or something might help folks try to troubleshoot the problem for you.

Really liking what I've seen so far of 3.0 BTW - great job (again) GWX Team !!!

Haven't seen you for a while! Knowing your interest in user-editable patrol logs, did you ever see this... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=133102 ??

Awesome - I had missed that one - got distracted by the PTO (SH4) for a while, but have been away from both SH3 and 4 for most of the year due to various RL issues. Can't believe you remembered my interest in the log thing - guess I pestered enough folks about it back in the day to make an impression after all :D

Can't wait to scan that thread and see what came of the idea - saw that GWX 3.0 had been released while I was out of town for the Holidays, and it's gotten me fired up to try out the ATO again, but I saw that the SH3 Commander-related files for GWX 3.0 weren't out yet so I'm just tinkering around with it till those files are released. I can't imagine really playing SH3 without SH3 Commander, any more than I would try it without JSGME. Great to see you're still involved over here - thanks for the tip about the thread above

Highly recommend that you ditch your 2.1 install and try out the new 3.0 version of GWX - from what I've seen in just the last day or so, and from reading the absolutely massive 3.0 manual, you won't regret it, and it does seem that they've solved the weather problems, at least from my limited exposure to it. I'm running GWX 3.0 with the following "optional" GWX mods (included in the 3.0 package), and the weather has been great so far:

GWX - 16km Atmosphere
GWX - Alternative Flotillas
GWX - Captain America's Officer Icons
GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects
GWX - No Medals on Crew
GWX - Open Hatch Mod
GWX - Integrated Orders
GWX - Merged Campaign

Sorry but, live with it. It wasn't all sunny days. :sunny:

If you've Das Boot or read Iron Coffins or simular books the weather was mostly crap.

Especially in the North Atlantic and North Sea.

You have the same mod setup as I now, The weather isnt all to bad, just some big waves.:yep: (We have had some calm seas too.)

Lot's of saved games and excessive use of Time compression
can cause abnormal weather patterns.

I'm on clean unmoded gwx3 now and still no clouds at all.. That's really annoying:damn:
Nice waves, heavy rain, storm like hell and moon in the middle of starlit sky.. It looks like that the weather managing file(s) somehow keep sky at fixed clear status all the time and change the other weather items properly

I am running GWX 3.0 with the 16k atmosphere mod and some of the others mentioned above, plus the exhaust smoke mod and Thomsens morse sound, run via SH3 commander and the weather is very changeable in the north sea, clear, to huge waves and lots of rain, the lastter going on for about 3 to 4 days before clearing.
My problem is that in two missions so far I have yet to see an enemy ship, and have been posted to AN23 twice in row since the start (March 1940)- maybe the phony war eh? :sunny:

I've played the game and the weather seems perfect. 24 days in the sea early war. I've had sunny days, overcast days, cloudy days, rainy days and full blown storms.

All well balanced. All way better than vanilla SH3.

i think you guys are missing the point. He isn't complaining about storms lasting too long or stuff like that...
his problem is that even in the middle of an Atlantic storm, with heavy rain and winds... the sky remains clear.

I think we (most of us anyway - except maybe firewall) understand his point - it's just that we're not seeing the same thing in game as he is. I've had a couple of clear, cloudless days in my couple of weeks at sea so far, but the rest of the time there have been plenty of clouds in very normal distribution. Fortunately, I haven't encountered his problem and unfortunately I don't have any idea what might be causing the total absence of clouds he seems to be experiencing.

Running GWX3 - weather crap.............. usually fine out to patrol area but no targets save small lone runners, patrol area = force 15 and all the trimmings.
Not really noticed a weather difference between 3 and the last version TBH.
Not all bad as I have had convoys in fine weather and I know there are workarounds but will stick with it though.

GWX3 rocks, I revamped my setup and deleted loadsa crud - like 11 Sims/mods my boy had installed - before going for the 3 install, due to numerous mods on the previous install and only installing mods over V3 bit by bit its like a new sim.

Cant wait for 4,5 and 6 !.................... hee hee........ you just know they cant walk away.......
All hail the modders who created V3, long may they mod:yep: .

Weather much more varied in GWX 3 IMHO and maybe even too good now but rather that than weeks of storms

I had this exact problem while beta testing. you would see rain falling, and hear the sound of thunder... only problem is that its a beautiful clear blue sky

The problem turned out to be that i had not fully uninstalled ALL of the SH3 files from my previous install.

GWX 3.0 has to be installed over a version of SH3 that is completely and totally "brand new" to the system...

my only recommendation would be to completely uninstall EVERY file and folder that has ANYTHING to do with SH3 from your computer and then...

1. Install SH3
2. Patch to 1.4b
3. install GWX3.0

almost every problem with GWX of this sort can be attributed to an incomplete or improper removal/reinstall of SH3.

good luck

EDIT

IF YOU ARE USING VISTA - - - there are additional uninstall / reinstall steps that are different than simply clicking "uninstall".

I'm with Privateer. High TC will bring on bad weather in 24 hrs.

I don't think it has anything to do with GWX or mods.

I tested useing SH-3 stock with patch 1.4

Above 512 tc for 24 hrs on came the storm with rain more often than not. 1024 tc it was a certainty.

I had the same problem before, but I used some mod. After disabled it, everything is fine. But you are using clean unmoded gwx3... I don't know, maybe try to upgrade the display card driver?

I have removed all Sh3 files completely, reinstalled and still no clouds.. Moreover there is something wrong with my uboat. That funny loop shaped antenna on the conning tower is always there even if run IIA ship in 1939.. It looks like my machine doesn't like gwx at all..:shifty:

I totally Agree,But with Vista?
Delete all Compatible Files too,
Vista makes compatible files on all Games,
Best to get rid of them,
Then Run The GWX 3.0 exe As Administrator
over your Clean SH3 1.4,
Vista Users Only need to do the Above.

Is the antenna thing really a problem? I've got it too on my IIA in '39, but I assumed that it was just the RDF (radio direction finder) detector/antenna and not some fancier radar unit, and that they would have had those RDF units even on the earliest boats - is that not correct?

When uninstalling the game, don't forget to check the 'SH3' folder which is created in your documents has been deleted. This stores saved games, settings etc. & this has caused me problems in the past during reinstalls:yep:.

Good Luck with your problem - Hope you have some bad weather, soon:).

...havnt had SH3 problems but agree with other posters about "vista" if your running on this OS it can take a few installs to get it right...Ive just done 3 to get the whole sim down whole....

This is probably the next best step doing a uninstall and fresh reload...a hassle but thats SH3...

Ok, it looks like the scene.dat file causes all problems. I have replaced it with stock 1.4b file and clouds are back.. I will stick with it at the moment , perhaps I will switch to a better PC soon and restore the large scene file..;)

So if I do 1024 TC but drop out for 1 min say, then back to 1024....will that keep the weather operating as intended by GWX 3??
