Having a thought today about piracy and the problems they are having in the gulf of aden and such and well decided we can sort of duplicate whats going on in dangerous waters.

so far ive sort of created a small exercise where a few nations warships are escorting a few merchant ships and loads of pirate craft attack its very intence as they are not normal pirate speed boats haha !

The plan:

Four coalition warships are exercising in the north sea thier objective is to get thier convoy of five civilian ships past the saftey line which is about 10nm away it takes half hour to do it in a straight line but trust me you wont be doing it in that time.

The pirate vessels are french d'estine de overes class FFL and German PTG they will fire on you as well as the merchant ships they are chosen delibratly as to make the scenario happen quicker there is between 10 and 14 of the craft that will fire on you and they are all scattered over the place.

Think thats easy? theres a restriction too as there are a few special forces rubber craft that are also running around waiting to bord the vessels but you only have two things in which your allowed to enguage them with, side mouted machine guns and the helo just to make it difficault, as the UN state its against thier human rights if you engauge with missiles and the big 4.5 inch gun.

The objective is to get the merchant vessels over the line in one piece and have minimal damage to them all.

Your in command of a perry class frigate twinned up with the cassard class destroyer of france the other two vessels in the force include a british and german frigates which will assist you and just like real life it wont all go to plan you never know what the other vessel is going to do so keep a realativly safe distance to avoid collission but close enough to stop the spec ops boats from going onboard.

does it sound like a worth while mission its in the works let me know the thoughs

regards.

Screw human rights. The should allow them to speed along side and override the phalanx to engage them. I bet the pirate problem would be over VERY quick!

I agree but unfortunatly it doesnt work like that personally i would like to sit miles away and fire SM-2's at them but the ROE dictates small arms and warning shots only.

I am reviewing the ROE for the mission and going to sort out a few glitches i hope i shall be done by early january, but it stands so far to engauge small rubber craft can only use light arms or helo.

The small PTG and FFL's have fun with SM2 or harpooning them.

Also the mission could be more interesting if some warship makes a mistake and fire a missile to a another ship by error.

Now some chinese ships are going to the area to help in the mission, including special ops units...
