And secondly,something is wrong with the face/hands/shirts contrast at night on the tower watch crew. The faces are almost black and the hands/shirts are to bright. Loving GWX since 2.0 Cheers. P.S. If there are any wrong spelling, sorry for my english

I discovered the same oddity. perhaps OLC fixes it. in the meantime I use "OLCE2 Adjusted GWX 2.1 Crew Skins" from OLC's Ubermod. with that it looks better, I think.

I got SH3Commander set up on GWX 3.0 and enabled the gwx type VIIc\41 in jsgme, started a new career in SH3Commander with presets for date, flotilla and type. launched the game and took her out on patrol

all the ingame screens (patrol orders, base main screen, update screen etc) insist that i have a VIIC, but when I tried to upgrade to a VIIC/41 it said: 'you already have it!'

the 3D model is the correct VIIC/41 but of course, it would be because i enabled that model in jsgme

so what I want to know: what boat am I riding exactly?
one option is to take her down to 350 meters and see what happens, but I've seen my old trusty VIIC go off the scale and come back, so even that would not give me conclusive evidence

any suggestions?

Oh man this brought back some bad memories. When I first added to SH3Cmdr the ability to start careers with any U-boat type, I couldn't for the life of me figure out why the VIIC/41 and IXC/40 wouldn't "take". I only ever got the VIIC or IXC...or so I thought. I eventually figured out, after much hair pulling, that I *was* getting the right U-boat, but SH3 just didn't make it obvious. IIRC the only way to tell for sure is to go to the U-boat upgrade screen and look, much like you have done.

Let me get this correct as I'm just a simple sailor.

To upgrade from GWX 2.1 to what looks like an excellent 3.0 version, there are some 8 files (bins?) totalling around 1.5GB and taking "x" hours even on Broadband.

Also available are "Torrent Files" and "Seed Files".


What are they?
What does this mean?
How do you do it?
What are the pro's and con's of this versus Broadband?Advice requested please.

To create a realistic environment for SH3 one must play in darkness in the broom cupboard under the stairs, with a bucket of diesel in one corner, last week's sweaty sports gear strewn about in the other, a bacon sarnie in hand and a tot of pussers rum handy..!!

Pusser's rum was the old Royal Navy stuff phased out in 1971.
Some enterprising souls in UK got the receipe (West Indian/South African origins) and now retail it. I got some in an LA liquor barn earlier this year and it tastes the same as the "original" tot we got as submariners. It was supposed to be a 50:50 mix with water, but on P&O boats we got it often neat. The spare water went on our monthly shower..!! The coxswain was a real gent..!! :up:

ok so while the text says my boat is a type VIIC, I can not upgrade to VIIC/41 because it then says 'you already have it!'

that coupled with the fact that she goes to 300 meters without problems means that it's a type VIIC/41, correct?

oh and the randomly assigned designation is U-293 which historically was a VIIC/41

Hi.
I still don't know what to do everyone has sent so much info that I am confused. My problem is I don't know how to start off. I just don't go any where. I get info that I have a friendly at a bearing and I try to a line the boat to meet my foe when it tells me I have a ship at so and so. I do not have the knowlege to answer the call. Is there a download on directions. I have so many un answered questions. I feel like I must relate to you that I was never in the Navy or on the sea. So everthing is a first for me I am just a deck hand. I just slop the decks. I must learn from the bottom I hope some of you well help me onward and up.

If you downloaded it. Then you should have a Manual choice in pdf format.

Start> Programs > Ubisoft > SilentHunter3 > Manual.

That should show you the basics.

Hi I noticed one little glitch thats nothing really if you click flank speed on the telegraph you only get 14 knots but if you select 18 knots from the speed dial you get 18 knots just wondered if anyone else has see this happen same happens submerged ? awsome mod btw i cant stop playing it

Just experimented and found hopefully some usefull it only happens if you have the files in for SH3 Commander then start it clicking the Silent Hunter 3 With GWX 3.0 .exe On the desktop. If you start it using SH3 Commander no problem 2.1 didnt do it for some reason. So my fault Beers all round for a fantastic Mod :up:

Try going to the map view, it will show your location and the location of the contact......draw a course line and then hit the follow plotted course button.....remember....he is moving also......good luck

Hi,

most of the .val files in
\data\Submarine\NSS_UboatXXX\*.val have been altered in the GWX 3.0 release.
What change does it implement?

Because i tend to overwrite them with older ones from the Waterstream-Exhaust Kombi Mod.

1)is the latest version of the excellent OLC GUI periscope/attack finder mod included as an integral part of the newly released GWX 3. consolidated mod? If not, what is the latest version of the OLC GUI mod and where can I get it?

I take it all I need is the GWX 3 mod; no other critical/atmospherics/realism mods to add that people think indispensible?

Now I do sail a XXIII in a single NYGM setup. Problem is though NYGM:s very poor simulation of traffic/warships in certain areas like the Baltic Sea. = None!!:down: :down: :down: Major Ports around the baltic countries are not even modelled.....:shifty:
Sailing a XXIII in these waters should really be the thing for a little coastal uboot but I guess its the British isles-only thing.......<sigh>

I know NYGM is mostly for the Low-end computers to avoid losing framerates and loading times. Since I have no probs with computing power I have almost entirely switched to GWX but miss the XXIII there thats why asking.;)

In the first post i have read:

HOWEVER! What you may not be aware of is that he has effectively REMOVED THE POLYGON effect from the waves present in ALL other environmental mods for SH3 currently available ...

I have compared views (F12) in stock SH3 and in SH3 with GWX-mod (training mission Navigation) and i have not seen any distinctions ...?

Yep i have the new sh3 Commander cfg enabled .
One more question anyone get dissapearing ships. Current date on patrol December 7th 1940 just sneaked into Scapa Flow sank the king george 5th thats there And a Dido Class, sneaked my way back out . Ran into a Dido and two Aux Criusers , In perfect position for hitting all 3 so saved game got too within 1200 m submerged, fired off 3 torps the ships turn ghost torps go through and no sign of them and they fade from the map. Reloaded game tried again same thing did you guys put a renown cap on or something ?

torps set 1 m below keel depth but ships just physically dissapear have tried following them and they dont dissapear at the point my torps would hit if i fire at them they just fade away when torps are like 200 meters away

The water is coloured by two colour entries in the envcolor.dat files. They are called WaterLightColor and WaterDarkColor. The former determines the colour of the water when viewed at a shallow angle (camera looking toward the horizon) and the latter determines the colour of the water when viewed from a steep angle (camera pointing straight down at the water). The fresnel coefficient and coefficient multipliers in scene.dat will "bias" the colour e.g. a high fresnel value will mean you see more of the WaterDarkColor and less of the WaterLightColour. The scale of the water bumpmap in scene.dat will determine the size and shape of the water "ripples" (each of which tends to show the WaterLightColor on one side and the WaterDarkColor on the other side, at intermediate camera angles). Note that by "ripples" I am not talking about polygons. I'm getting to that.

Laid over the water is a reflection map. The sky reflection is a TGA stored in the skycolor.dat files and the ship/cloud/particle/etc reflections are added to that. Then the whole reflective layer is adjusted in brightness by various scene.dat settings (e.g. reflection bias) then distorted by the same bumpmap which gives the "ripples" mentioned above, then finally the reflective layer is "moulded" over the waves. The transparency of the reflective layer is determined by the angle of each water polygon and by the fresnel and normal settings in scene.dat. If the reflective layer is partially (or fully) transparent on a given polygon, then the LightWaterColor and DarkWaterColor will show through the reflective layer on that polygon. If both of those colours are much darker than the reflective layer, then you'll get the "polygon problem" which is where one polygon is very reflective (bright) and another polygon right next to it is not reflective (dark).

I've just started to play SH3 again, right before Christmas. After a short time, with my old modded files I got bored and thought: "Let's see if there are any new Mods." and I found GWX 3.0.

This Mod is the best christmas present ever! :up:

My old mods were older than 1 year (I used the "Frontflotille" Mod) and this is now a complete new game! :D Thanks a lot for it!

Now I started modding GWX 3.0 slightly (like my own "Tauchzellen vorfluten Mod" with GWX 3.0 files, which is mostly the same like the "Decks awash Mod", but it's handmade with some nice details, like the correct text in menu.txt and changed soundfiles ;)) because I like to mod my games as much as I like to play it... But some questions came up, during my modding attempts:

Is there any threat, forum or homepage with GWX 3.0 compatible Mods? (GWX only, because I'm overwhelmed with all these supermods, mods, options and tweaks here in the forum and I'm not sure wich works with GWX 3.0 and does not change more than the mod supposed to do [by using original SH3 files or old GWX files])

The other questions are better asked in the threats of the Mods... (I need this Lifeboat Mod of Rubini soooooo badly, but I've read, that it undo the Polygon Fix for the water, wich came with GWX 3.0... Or this mod for smoke from my Dieselengines [I've forgot the Name... >_<] And the mod for water running out of the "Flutschlitze" [sorry, I really don't know the english word for it] of my U-Boot...)

I love this eye candy... ;)

Point the exe at your SH3 Commander folder if you are using it.

But don't expect SH4 water. :huh:
SH4's water has a much higher polygon count and it uses shaders. No amount of tweaking SH3 is going to be able to match that.

Hey all, having a blast with GWX3.0, however there is one thing Im not too keen on. The sound of the depth charges from inside the sub, I prefer the sound from GWX2.1 and Im not too crazy about the rattling aspect of the sound when the charges arent even close to the sub.

Also is the sub not rocking from DC's anymore? (perhaps I havent had a close call, but I swear I did last night)... anyway is there a way to change it back to the previous sound? (or does Tompsons sound pack have different ones?)

Couple of other things.

1. Did the water get darker in 3.0? Dont get me wrong, I like it and it allows you to use the external camera without the ability to "cheat" once in a while. ;)

2. When I start a new patrol the news for the month has stayed the same, which is the message you get when you start prior to war breaking out about what to do in certian flotillas etc... Whats weird is this is my second career starting in April of 41 yet Im getting August 39 news? 3 patrols so far with the same news brief.

As for the calendar and info, I only had that problem in 2.1! I think it may be a corrupt something because in 3.0 my calendar is fine.

Yes Ive noticed there does seem to be alot from Vancouver here, maybe it has something to do with being close to the ocean. :hmm:

I agree the nights have gotten darker, I think its better actually, or more realistic perhaps. I wonder if the AI's visual range has reduced from this?

Funny you should mention "corrupt".... Ever since I downloaded the single big GWX3.0 file (not the packets but the all in one) Ive been battling a nasty trojan. Now, to be fair I did download SH3 Commander and the config files so it could have come from there as well. Anyway, I found a good free anti virus and all is well again.

Now I wonder if this trojan has effected my SH3?

You guys did change the DC's explosion sounds though right?

Hello there,

I received an enigma encoded message - is this a mission or just a filling transmission?
A transmission code is given, but not the daily changed code which was given to the ships in a code book.

There are several "SSS"-messages with coordinates in longitude and latitude, I checked one but this points on at city somewhere in france... can't believe that this was a ground force that hit a mine... filling transmission? How could I find these coordinates in SH3?

first a BIG THANKS (again) for the GWX team for combining those mods into one great package !
I am currently installing SH3 from scratch, only thing i do not get is the SH3 commander installation. I wanted to install SH3 patcheed to 1.4b, then GWX, then SH3 Commander. Only then did i want to turn those mods on via JSGME.
I have somehow difficulties installating SH3 Commander, the GWX manual says to "download some special files if you want to use SH3 Commander", but the link does not show any spcial fiiles to use with it ? Huh ? Maybe i just did not get it, will read again.

I've been trying to download GWX gold but I'm having some trouble. I installed a fresh version of sh3 off of my games dvd and downloadeed the 1.4 patch off of file front. However, when I attempt to install the GWX Gold I get an error message that the setup files are corrupted please install a new copy? Can anyone help? I reinstalled sh3 and the patch from another source but still receive same error msg?:damn:

Download all 7 bin files and the exe and place into 1 folder
Run the exe and point it to your fresh install
Done

Well, first off, the war hasn't started yet. so when you sank other ships they were neutral. This means that you've sunk semi-friendly ships, so your own guys think you've gone renegade. I think.

The date not progressing? That's one I've never seen.

Sigh......

GWX has always been very stable for me other then the very odd save game load crash (which I believe is a stock SH3 issue).

Anyway, so far 3.0 has been a nightmare. Im not sure if its a corrupt install (used the all in one download?) or what but Ive now lost 3 careers to this save game crash bug. One of them I sank the hood in. I can not load any save game once this starts happening, throw in the insanely long load times and this is beyound frustrating :damn:

The final blow came just now, a very long amd tough (but fun) patrol. Ive been on this patrol for 6+ hours real time and then as Im chasing a convoy report the game just crashed, SH3 has only ever crashed for me once during gameplay.

So... I guess I have to reinstall everything, again. :cry:

Sorry all, just had to vent that out.

Im sure I'll get it back to stable condition or die trying...:ping:

Stay out on patrol and you will receive a radio message on the 4th informing you to return to base.

Remember, all ships are neutral at this point in time.....once you attack one, every ship in the SH3 world (also being neutral) will perceive you as an enemy.

Upon receipt of the radio message, port instantly back to base (Esc) and apply for a transfer to the 1st or 2nd Flotilla.

Your second patrol should commence on 24th August allowing you plenty of time to cruise to your patrol grid prior to the commencement of hostilities....as was the case in RL.

Hi, I'm trying to play this wonderful mod at full realism (I only have the event camera), even without the "god view" contact updates on the map (btw it's odd this option doesn't move the percentage at all).


The problem is that for now it's far too difficult (and with the silhouette of the ships showing is far too easy), and I'd like to have the "contact updates" option NOT showing the ships BUT showing the dashed lines from the hydrophone operator.
(or maybe having the lines back with "no contact updates" uncecked")

Is there a way to do so?
Are that indicators subject to errors, depending on the operator's experience? (like the estimated distance by the watchman official, maybe)

As per my earlier post is there a way to disable incoming radio messages.
I've had to remove my radio operator from duty just to stop these coming in every 30 seconds when using time compression.The messages are'nt from BDU'but from other subs directed towards me even when i'm thousands of km's away.I've even had messages from ME to ME!! :-?

Also is there a way to lighten the water colour?

Can you please conform this for GWX 2.0:
1. When hydrophone operator reports that ship is at "long range", that is 8-16 km (it was 8-20 for stock sh3?)
2. When hydrophone operator reports that ship is traveling at "medium speed", that is 8-15 kts?

I cannot find this information on the manual nor in the gwx threads, and without it and "no contact updates" checked it's pretty impossible to plan a decent hunt.:-?

I have realized that too late. But, note one thing, on the map there are three marks: ship target... so you know, target:hmm: is a target, so I sank`em all Limeys:rock:

The problem is that for now it's far too difficult (and with the silhouette of the ships showing is far too easy), and I'd like to have the "contact updates" option NOT showing the ships BUT showing the dashed lines from the hydrophone operator.
(or maybe having the lines back with "no contact updates" uncecked")
Try the Assisted Plotting Mod. It removes all ships from the map, unless you identify one and then it shows up. It gives the 'dashed' sonar lines as well.

I'll try to remember to put it up tomorrow so you can get it.

I'm not sure what to say to you at this point.

Concerned by your post, I created a clean installation of SH3 patched to version 1.4b and installed the Full .EXE version that I downloaded from BtS... without any of the problems you've encountered. No corrupted file messages appeared at any point in the process.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is that if your internet service is interrupted and then resumed during the download... may cause portions of the file content to become corrupted.

All indications at my end suggest that there is nothing wrong with the Full .EXE version available from BtS.

Ahhh... thank you very much. I will check that. I guess the three OLC2 extra fixes are in GWX 3 automatically (the ship reflections, crew glowing, and E.D.E.) so it is a little slicker without all those exztra fixes.:up:

I'm not so sure about that. In my opinion its better if you install OLC's mod for the crew cause the crew is glowing in the dark. :88)

It is very nice mod. However, during game play there are too many recieved messages. Most have to do with some other sub miles from where my sub is. The only messages I need on my sub sshould only pertain to me and my position. Any fix for this.

But, I´m now at least the third person in this thread that asks for a way to disable all these enoying radiomessages that keep comming in and throwing us out of transit in TC 1024 or whatever down to TC 1 - just to tell us that some boat somewhere hit a mine.
If these radiomassages at least followed the setting for TC and cut out at x32 or whatever, but these ones don´t - they just keep comming. :cry:

Sorry if I sound cranky but I´ve just discoverd SHIII a week or two ago, and I haven´t sleept much since.... :oops:

Nope....I have a personal access key to a 'cargo hold' on the bts server I use for GWX material (thanks to Russ) so just use that....besides, I'm not aware of a file storage site that'll take a single file that is well over 1GB.

The torrent I'm hosting is the exe plus 7 bins package.

You have three options/choices:

1) Remove the radio operator from his station.

2) Physically delete the messages.

3) Download a lite message pack/mod.

Hi, first off, thanks to the GWX team for all their hard work on making this great mod.

Second, I have a question... Is it supposed to be this bloody dark?! :o

A month or two ago I played GWX 2.1 and while things got dark, I could usually spot a ship with a bit of help from my WO/SO giving bearing and perhaps jamming the "lock" button if I really had trouble spotting it.


But in GWX, I just encountered a ship that I just could not see. Got a radio report, plotted an intercept, set course, the usual paces. It was heavy rain, wind and seas, time was just before midnight, and I misjudged how much speed the waves would cost me and by the time I got into ambush position and dived the SO reported the merchant was merely two km away. While I puzzled why our watch hadn't spotted it I raised periscope and swiveled to the bearing the SO gave me and... nothing.

For the next couple minutes I swiveled the periscope finder +-10 degrees of the listed bearing, zooming in, zooming out, making sure I wasn't staring down into the water or up into the rainy sky, raising the periscope FAR above the waves and still I saw nothing. Finally I hit the lock button and it locked on, reading "CARGO" in the notepad, and yet I still stared straight at where the crosshair was and couldn't see anything, and by now the ship was only 1.5kms away...

I would hit the lock button and switch over to the nav map, which showed the ships stencil that, yes, it was indeed only a short distance away. Finally when it reached 1km and I STILL couldn't see it I gave the order to surface and took a look with the binoculars. Finally I managed to barely spot it, the WO did too and reported the range at less than 500m. It was darkened and Brittish (I *think*), but since it was only Sept 1st I decided to let it go (Even if it was dark for some reason). I was still thoroughly confused however and watched it sink back into the night, when it reached about 800m the thing just faded from view like it had never been there.

My question is simply "Is this normal for such conditions? (Heavy precipitation very high wind speed, poor visibility)". Playing GWX 2.1 in the past I had encountered similar listed conditions before and never had a ship be that hard to see, it was like it literally was invisible until it was less than a kilometer away. I even took a few screenshots of the periscope finder where the ship supposedly was, paused, and ran it through a green-filter in GIMP, in the past I had done this in GWX 2.1 to help me notice ships in the dark, but here it simply showed nothing, again like the ship was invisible.

Here are a few screenshots, first one is the ship closing about 1.5km away, run through the green-filter. The second two are the same shot (one normal, one green-filtered) of the ship having already passed us and leaving, at about 750m out.

Sorry for the possibly silly question, I was just quite shocked, confused, and amazed that a ship could get that close and I still couldn't see it amidst constant bearing updates and a mental chorus of "Can't see crap herr Kaleun". If this is the way its supposed to be, thats fine, I'll just learn to adapt to it like I did with GWX's dark nights. But if not, well, I miss being able to see at night, even if only barely. :o This was just so vexing I finally gave up lurking and registered just to post this!

3.0 has significantly darker skies at night. I think disabling 16km atmosphere can make it brighter, though you could just change brightness levels on your computer.

Well, thanks for the quick reply, but my brightness on the monitor is already set to 85/100. So its supposed to be dark huh? Ok, but I was just confused by the fact it simply wasn't there, not just obscured by the dark, but when fiddling with the contrast, color tint, all sorts of things in GIMP I couldn't see the ship, just the horizon and water. Does GWX 3 include fog effects that might've obscured the ship?

The OLC mod made so many positive improvements eg: horizon envelope deletion, vastly improved water quality etc. etc.

We are of the humble opinion that the darkness levels now experienced at night by the game player is much more realistic.

We are of the humble opinion that the darkness levels now experienced at night by the game player is much more realistic.

maybe more realistic but too much difficult to play : it is more reasonable, my humble opinion, to give a chance , redusing the darkness to people to play , as we do using gwx21 or say ok guys this is the parameter you may modify to have a NIGHT less Dark than Now or say ok this is a Parameter to reduce a little bit ....so you may see in the DARK without being a Bat Uboat.

I am using GWX2.1 with OLC GUI 1.2.7 and OLCE2 2.4.3 with numerous other cosmetic mods. It seems pretty good.

I am using GWX2.1 with OLC GUI 1.2.7 and OLCE2 2.4.3 with numerous other cosmetic mods. It seems pretty good.

Did a few patrols with 3.0 and of course it's great:)

About bad/foggy weather and ships locking: It was the same with core SH3. It's good the visibility is ranged but I guess the annoying part was you can actually see ship but cannot lock it. Don't know how it is with 3.0 but that was annoyance with core game.

If I'm not wrong the major change in 3.0 is removing odd looking 'far' contacts. Before they looked like flying above horizon.

Unfortunatelly I saw rough texture border; during the bad weather the waves made by boat at the lenght of coning tower are 'cut': texture of the water after the tower is much whiter then that before. I feel I'm struggling with my english now:) Anyway, thats the thing from core game and not bothers me much.

I did encounter a real bug: when trying to apply for transfer I got infinite loop 'base changed to: null [OK], null [OK]CAMPAIGN [OK] , OPTIONS [OK], null.... and so on,)

I got the 'flying ships" problem for the first time on my first patrol with GWX 3.0 - I was taking my 5-day test cruise in a new career started in August 1939, and spotted a couple of ships at about 14km or so, in relatively calm seas and unlimited/best visibility in early afternoon, and they looked like they were flying in the air above the hazy band along the horizon. I didn't realize that either GWX changed the screenshot key or I forgot it (been playing SH4 for a while, so I may have pressed the wrong keys if they're different), so unfortunately I didn't get a screen shot and I didn't write down the exact parameters because I had set them up to show in the chat box for the screen shot I thought I was getting :damn:

Anyway, I was running the following mods when it happened (in addition to the main GWX 3.0 on top of new, pristine 1.4b install):

GWX - 16km Atmosphere
GWX - Alternative Flotillas
GWX - Captain America's Officer Icons
GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects
GWX - No Medals on Crew
GWX - Open Hatch Mod
GWX - Integrated Orders
GWX - Merged Campaign

I too thought this was some anomaly from the past that shouldn't be happening any more - any idea what might be causing this or how I could get rid of it?

I get the exact same MD5 checksum value when downloading from bts. I don't have problems downloading other files, and my internet connection is excellent. Perhaps the MD5 checksum given at bts is wrong?

One thing to check is to see if the file size is correct. I get 1,411,027,721 bytes. Is this correct?

Been away for awhile. Hard disc failure meant I lost my original GWX & havn't had chance to re instal it. Just put GWX3 on with commander. All I can say is fantastic. My Pc is pretty old. But the graphics in this look cutting edge! Love the waves. The lighting is just right & the ship models are beautiful. More like watching the cruel sea in colour! Thanks for your hard work! Some very clever programing. Off on patrol now. If I can remember how.....

You can "RAR" it with WinRAR and split the archive into two parts with 650mb. (I think WinZIP and 7zip can do this too.) This way you need only 2 CD's.

You will need a fresh install of SHIII patched to 1.4

Download all 7 bin files and the exe and place into 1 folder
Run the exe and point it to your fresh install

I downloaded the files right from subsim server thingy...the one where it asks for a donation. My problem is that now with the files downloaded where do I put them, the readme just keeps sending me back to the "Thanks for your Support" page where the files are listed.

I simply downloaded the files which went to my downloads folder and ran the exe...it goes through the initial process and while its installing I get an "Error" stating:

"C:\ProgramFiles\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\sea\N BC_GraffSpee.dat

An error occurred while trying to copy a file:

The source file is corrupted.

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file(not recommended), or Abort to cancel installation"

The only thing that is a variable is because years ago I bought SH3 on direct2drive and tried on my older laptop...didnt work so it waited...got a newer laptop now and originally it didnt work either because of some stupid activation code with d2d. My friend was able to use it so I didnt think anything of it...He comes back later with a dvd copy of my legally downloaded copy and i instal on my computer...guess what, SH3 worked....little slow around port but it ran well. Now I got this same error while trying to mod the copy...I figured ok, guess I should just go buy a disk copy of SH3....thats what I did....fresh new copy...but I saved the old game files from the old because well I really dont want to have to redo all those darn patrols again.

If I can solve the installation problem by reinstalling without the saved game files I am fine with that....little bit of crying maybe but i'll get over it.

Any ideas?

Check sum value from the bts site also didn't match for me.

The checksum result for me is ee96ed51e0082bd920e27e416c0aff30

The size in bytes matches with yours as well.

Which is the same as what you get.

It does not matter where you place the files
as long as they are all in the same folder.

I use a folder called downloads.
Don't ask me why.

That is because of the OLC environmental mod we incorporated into GWX.

IMHO this excellent piece of work from OLC make the nights even more realistic.

Newbie here with a question about resupplying in GWX3.0.

Halfway to my patrol grid I came across a convoy of 12 ships. Sank em all cept 1 (is it me or are the tramp steamers thick skinned sob's). Used up all my torps and spent the rest of the day plinking the rest off with my flak guns. So I haven't even reached my patrol area and I'm down to using spitballs for ammo so I decide to try to resupply. Found a supply ship off the coast of spain and did as the manual said, exited my mission and docked at port. All restocked, I was looking forward to continuing my patrol but my patrol ended. When I put back out to sea my orders were blank and my patrol grid location was listed as "null".

So resuplying supposed to end your patrol or am I doing something wrong? The patrol ended as if I did complete the mission, didn't notice any penalties but I still would have liked to have finished my patrol.

You don't get renown for reaching your patrol grid, so it doesn't matter. Supply ships and U-tankers need to end a "patrol" to do their job, can't change that. You can continue to your old patrol grid if you want, but since you didn't need to reach it in the first place, it's alright.

Thanks for the info. And Thanks to the grey wolf team for producing such a great product. You don't see this level of quality and detail from the "professionals".

Can't wait to see what they do with SH4. I bought it but only played a bit before going back to SH3. It was just too "unlike" SH3. I liked the improved graphics but the interface was just not enjoyable for me.

I would love to see a japanese mod for the game. Just imaging playing in the I-400 class subs. Biggest sub of the war as far as I know, flyable fighters and the best torpedo's of the war. Don't know if it can be done but it would be real cool

I'm actually serious, considering there's been at least three different sets of pseudo bug fixes released since GWX Gold; more than the number released for GWX 2.1. And let's not forget, the reason for GWX Gold was to minimise the number of files that users needed to d/l and install (your words IIRC), when in fact players now need to d/l more files to get a (relatively) bug free copy of GWX. So, I'm simply applying the same logic to GWX Gold as you did to GWX 2.1.

So I'm simply asking, will there be an "official" bug fix release for GWX Gold? And will there inevitably be a "GWX Diamond" release to do the same to GWX Gold that was done to GWX 2.1? Or will it be left to the modding community to fix?

BTW, what's Thillium? :hmm2:

Sorry if this has been asked but I did search but all it said was it is a bug with 1.4. I have just upgraded to GWX 3.0 after so long playing 1.3 and if I select a sub with radar or sonar it immediately says both are destroyed and the radar screen is missing. Can this be fixed?

Probably a type IX (not sure of variant).

Have you enabled the incorporated mod: Late war sensors snorkel antennas.

Update: I've just enabled the late war sensors and hey presto it works!

Your welcome....it is usually one of the type IX that gets this sort of report, IIRC a IXD2.

I have SH3, 1.4b, latest jsgme and GWX30...

in gwx2 everything worked fine, I reinstalled sh3, patched and al.. the sims seems to work fine except I can not man any of the flak or deck gun, in ANY weather.. the crew can man them, but when I hit F10 or F11, no graphics to see deck gun or flak.

any ideas

Forget it, the prob was widescreen mod, mot GWX.. now to try and figure out why widescreen mod will not show deck\flak gun position.

The same with the resolution fix.
AFAIK only the keys "F9", "F10" & "F11" are disabled. If you change these key's it may be work.

I didn't try it, because I'm on patrol, but I wanted to change the flak cycle function to "f" and the deck gun to "g".


EDIT: I've just changed the keys and it works.

I'm just about to make the leap up to GWX Gold - Belated thanks for all the hard work:salute:. I only have two queries about the cfg files for SH3Commander.

I have found 2 links: One for VikingG's installer - GWX3_SH3Cdr3.2Files_v1.2.exe & the other, on Cottonswab's FileFront download page - GWX3_Commander_Files.exe. Which of these is recommended?

WIll the recommended cfg file replacement exe restore the use of all SH3Commander's options, including the Malfunction/Sabotage feature? - which I like a lot, even though it can be frustrating, at times:damn:.

I'm actually serious, considering there's been at least three different sets of pseudo bug fixes released since GWX Gold; more than the number released for GWX 2.1. And let's not forget, the reason for GWX Gold was to minimise the number of files that users needed to d/l and install (your words IIRC), when in fact players now need to d/l more files to get a (relatively) bug free copy of GWX. So, I'm simply applying the same logic to GWX Gold as you did to GWX 2.1.

So I'm simply asking, will there be an "official" bug fix release for GWX Gold? And will there inevitably be a "GWX Diamond" release to do the same to GWX Gold that was done to GWX 2.1? Or will it be left to the modding community to fix?
