First of all I would like to say Hi to all,

Just finished installing the GWX pack in Silent Hunter III and love it.
Its brought me back to this game that was just sitting on the shelve gathering dust.

OK, this maybe a dumb question but here goes anyway.

I want to change the intro music to a song by Iron Maiden called "Run Silent,Run Deep" ? its in a MP3 format. What do I have to do? and where do I put it when finished?

Here is a Link to the song if you haven't heard it before(Give it a go You may be quite surprised.) and or just want to stick it in your gramophone and play it when taking on a convoy( just to get you in the mood).
I know its not historically correct but I find it Very fitting for the game.

If you have listened to this song tell us what you think?

Anyway thanks in advance,

P.S. I am a newbie to this modding thing so please be patient with all the dumb question I may ask.

First off, welcome to SubSim!.

As to your question, I can humbly say Great Song!, I've been a Maiden fan since 1979, having seen them 64 times in concert. As to my pick, I'd choose 3 songs of theirs:

1) Hallowed Be Thy Name
2) Rhime of the Ancient Mariner
and just because it's appropriate...
3) Dive, Dive, Dive (by Bruce off the Tattooed Millionaire album)

Anyways, to your question - you need to change the mp3 to an ogg.vorbis format.

I'm looking to find more info to verify "where to place the files" BUT from what I've found so far, it seems:

As to getting them to play in the gramophone, the tracks should be put into the:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\GWX 2\data\Sound\Gramaphone folder.

and tick the 'Randomize gramaphone tracks' box.

Hopefully someone can/will verify this shortly...

Cheers,

R.S.

Silverleaf is correct.....however, I don't think that is what you actually meant but rather where to change the 'intro music' :hmm:

I'm at work right now buu will let you know the correct location tonight if nobody responds in the meantime.....which is highly unlikely ;)

Thanks guys I had a feeling that i would have to change it to a .ogg file.
that part seems quite easy enough and i know that i will have to rename it to what? thats the hard part.

Cheers,

put in the cd player your song and press 'play' when you start your attack.is simpler to do that ,no need to put it in the game!
also have a look at this song (you may like it) 'opos tha pairno tis strofes' by basilis terlegkas

GREAT choice of music! I've completely redone the soundtrack to my GWX as well with music from Linkin Park, Three Days Grace, Avenged Sevenfold, etc.... Ok - on to how to get it done...

Two steps to get what you want -
1. Go and download Xilisoft's MP3/OGG converter... Trial version here!
http://www.xilisoft.com/ogg-mp3-converter.html
Only thing about the trial version is you can only convert 3 song at a time... then you have to close it and reopen!
2. To replace the menu song - rename the newly converted ogg to "Menu_Master LOOP.ogg" and then replace the exact same file located in your data/Sounds/Menu folder! (Make a backup of your original doc's FIRST!)

That's it man! Welcome aboard & Happy Hunting!
