IMHO, the clown's nose and smile has to go.

the subsim logo with a nice font ''Clowns'' will do just nicely.

You crazy. :D

Just looking at that grin makes me chuckle every single time. Heck, just thinking about it does. :D
Anyway, looks good so far...So far...?

Think it's only gonna get worse? Any suggestions are welcome, but a B-52 would be hard to incorporate, me thinks. :yep:

No enemy is ever gonna forget that one, though I don't know how it looks once you start pasting it on vehicles and such. Maybe a little too complex. :hmmm:

You can pretty much anything as the logo as long as it's 256x256, 512x512 etc. and it'll show up nicely.

The highest I have is 512x512 and it's only partly done, but yeh, I'll propably modify the existing one abit so the foremost hand comes over the edge of the circle aswell so it looks like the clown is resting the arm on the edge.

Might be nice to incorporate with the logo, instead of the plain white. :06:

Dowly
06-10-09, 12:28 PM
Looking good. Tho, I must say that my personal preference would be to use the plain white, as that is how the subsim's logo is presented on the homepage. :hmmm:

Arclight
06-10-09, 12:47 PM
Yeah, I understand that, kinda feel the same way. I set out to give it a metallic look, while keeping the original look and feel, but those things started rolling out and I figured I'd just put them up.

Meanwhile I still haven't accomplished what I set out for. :hmmm:

Maybe give the logo a bit of "rise", some texturing to mimick machining marks and bit of lighting for metallic sheen. Make it look like a metal logo that's attached to a surface, instead of painted.

Noticed that as well... wonder if "heading for the pub" actually means "sabotaging Jim's server". :hmmm:

That would be putting the guy regularly sabotaging his server out of business and thus, highly rude...

Arclight
06-18-09, 03:30 PM
I don't know, is it rude to sabotage a saboteur?

Raptor1
06-18-09, 03:35 PM
I don't know, is it rude to sabotage a saboteur?

Well, that depends, is said saboteur sabotaging the saboteur sabotaging him?

Raptor1
06-18-09, 03:38 PM
And Jimbuna is up again, looks like one of the sabotaging saboteurs finally won

Arclight
06-18-09, 03:42 PM
No, I think previously mentioned saboteur is sabotaging said saboteur, while that saboteur is only sabotaging Jim's TS and not said saboteur.

Now, if previously mentioned saboteur would have been succesfull at sabotaging said saboteur, Jim's TS would not have been sabotaged.

I think.

Raptor1
06-18-09, 03:43 PM
Good, therefore it is apparent that the saboteur sabotaging the saboteur sabotaging Jimbuna's server has succeeded, whether that is rude is debatable

The real problem comes if both you and her are regulars there. Kinda akward running into a "not so well preserved" :rotfl: woman after turning her down. Sex doesn't exactly improve that situation either. :timeout:

TF:

language.pbo and languagemissions.pbo go into the AddOns folder.
languagecore.pbo goes to Dta folder.

You can use JSGME to set it up. You need to roll back the "english patch" before updating the game, so make darn sure you back up files.

On second thought.

move on to ArmA II.
I hereby quit my clowns act.

very simple reason I signed on not much for the game, but for the people I played with...since some are moving on the newer one..and I plan not to get it soon or maybe not at all I think I will be lagging behind anyway as almost everyone seems to get it.
I could have continued hosting ArmA I games...but whats the point if fewer and fewer show up because they rather play ArmA II...not that I blame them. New is always more fun....but I singed into the clowns for the gameplay with other players rather then the game.

Modern combat isn't really my stuff but I thought ArmA was fun to play with you lot as long it lasted.

HunterICX

Arclight
06-23-09, 04:28 PM
No offense TF, but that's really missing the point. :(

There really has been almost 0 interest for playing Arma the last weeks. I'm sorry to see it break apart like this. I never play any games online, but I do play this with SSC, all the while laughing my ass off. So much so, that I really need to keep my mic on "push-to-talk" to avoid saturating the channel with braindead chuckling constantly. :)

If Hunter bails, I might be able to host if there's interest, but stability isn't exactly optimal. I still have trouble getting Win7 to behave. I can set up a dedicated server when I can't play myself (PC is always on anyway), but I'll need some time to figure that stuff out. :-?

Task Force
06-23-09, 04:33 PM
well, arma 2 will eventualy get old. maby people will start going back to arma 1.:hmmm:

Arclight
06-23-09, 04:47 PM
Maybe, maybe not, but it would be a shame to loose players along the way. Maybe more like leaving players behind. :-?

Task Force
06-23-09, 04:51 PM
And that would be rong.... err... so how many people still play AA1?

I was thinking...

1 hour before the lolwaffes fly on mondays the arma 1 people meet.

1 hour before the lolwaffes fly on fridays, the arma 2 people meet.

or maby some time in the after noon on tuesday or thursday one group can meet, then the other on the other day...

or something so both groups still meet and the people who have arma 1 still can play, without haveing to split... also so the game dosent get old, or boreing because your not finishing everything as quick.:hmmm: and when all the clowns have arma 2 arma 1 can still be played if the arma 1 players feel like it.

The first and last year of WWI were quite mobile on the Western Front, and the other fronts (Except Gallipoli) were quite mobile most of the time (Even though the Eastern Front was a...err...mobile stalemate)

Besides, ArmA is a tactical-level game, the frustration of constant stalemate only becomes really apparent on the strategic or operational scale

HunterICXThere have been a few. Men of Valor, Vietcong1+2 but all of them were scripted SP campaigns. I actually like VC1 because it had some fun co-op and MP maps and even the scripted SP campaign was quite atmospheric but the AI had some quirks despite being quite good at hiding and taking cover. VC2 didn't grab me for some reason. BF Vietnam was not much chop either.

I agree someone should do a 'Nam infantry sim that lets you operate freely instead of go here shoot that, blow that up watch out for booby traps etc etc.

I'm gonna have to reinstall ACE(removed to save HD space), but yeah I'll try to be there. Then again we could already do that long awaited jump to A2. It's shaping up well and is already miles ahead of 1.

I'm trying to get the group back alive that play ArmA 1, so for people that want their ArmA 2 fit...you'll have to look for something else.
both games in the same group didn't mix (that was shown the last time)

Look, stick with ArmA 2 if you don't like to play ArmA 1

I try to get the group back on its feet for the ones that play for the group, not the ones that constantly complain about the dated game.
Not to sound hostile, but the move to ArmA 2 dropped the group pretty dead back then as it showed that 2 games in 1 group just doesn't work.

Right, like Hunter said (atleast to me), he's planning on hosting one (1) session a week. This gives us time to find and/or make missions for us so we dont have to play that same darned intell mission over and over again (not that there's something wrong with it).

So, I'm ok with building missions for us (if I can ever figure out how to use the revive script ) and would like to hear what kind of missions you'd like to see? The last time I made a mission, it went abit messy with craploads of stuff in it with half of it not even working for MP, so I'm going to keep them simple in the future.

How people like night stuff? Obviously, if it's specop mission there's no point having it in broad daylight. :hmmm: But on the other hand, I think specops are best suited for us simply because they can be made good and light at the same time.

Single objective or multi? Again, abit of an double-edged sword thingy. Having multiple objectives per mission will result in fewer missions on the same set-up, but it also makes for longer missions which IMHO is always good. Then again, spreading the objectives over multiple missions helps me to make cleaner missions and briefings and naturally makes the missions run smoother. I'll try to have the missions tied up together, so I guess it boils down to if we want to play the "story" in big or small chunks at a time.

Loadouts. Want to pick your weapons from the crates or keep the loadout to the classes (Support has MG, demoguy carries the explosives etc. etc.)?

Discuss!

Oberon
01-11-10, 09:42 AM
Spec-Ops missions are probably best considering it's likely that there will be a small number of us although I do quite enjoy infantry style missions.
Night ops are fair game, I'll have to practice some of those. :salute:
Not too fussy on the uni-or-multi objective, I guess it depends on the objective involved. For something like capturing an enemy position, if there are a large group of enemies there, then only one objective is needed, but for special forces missions I guess more than one objective would be required as multiple targets would need to be dropped.
Hmmm, picking weapons from crates would probably be best as it'll give those of us who have a particular favourite type of weapon a chance to use it. :salute:

HunterICX
01-11-10, 10:47 AM
Just do what your able to, Dowly

I'm pretty fine with everything as long it aint too much for the amount of people we would have available to play.

if you want to experiment with scripts or trigger events go ahead if it fails it's just something you could learn from anyway.

Objectives, as before I prefer a chain of missions that have something in relation with eachother like a good old fashion tom clancy game :yeah:

Weapon load out, I say crates are my preference, but dont stack'em with all of the weapons variants...give a fair crate.

I will officially boycott the M4 in arma from now on. It sucks. I mean, it reaaally sucks. I did 5 or 6 tests with the silenced M4 and the fewest amount of bullets it took to kill a civilian when shot to back from 5 meters was 4 rounds. In one test it took 7 (SEVEN) rounds to kill the bastard. :haha:

POS I tell you. :yep:

How about a silenced MP5, or is that subject off-limits? :hmmm:

No, not at all. Good you brought it up, the M4SD is pretty much as effective as the MP5SD (Ok, I made only one test with the mp5 and it took 5 shots, BUT the first two shots were from 30 meters instead of the 5m I used for the M4 :O:).

Schroeder
01-12-10, 01:25 PM
It's still ridicules. You should only need one shot to kill someone if you aim for vital parts.

Dowly
01-12-10, 01:30 PM
Oh well, we always got the Hk147 or just grab an AK from a dead russian/insurgent. :DL

Which leads me to another thing I've noticed, the AK is super accurate. Now, I know it uses a different round than the M4 and all that, but goddammit, for the sake of balance that thing is ridiculously accurate. Just last night I made a quick sniping mission where I was 500 meters from the enemy, first I used the snipers and killed them. Then I restarted and took the RPK, the darn thing has almost no dispersion even at that range... on full auto.

Btw, does TS3 work with TS2? :06:

AFAIK, no. (not 100% sure)

Which leads me to the next question: Are we playing tonight?

Not that I have any missions ready, but if Hunter (given he wants to play tonight) has Fincuan's old mission still saved we can try that. Or if all else fails, I can make one or two very simple missions with no story. I have two simple ideas ready, just need to make them, only problem will be the revive script, dont know if I can get it to work. :hmmm:

Arclight
01-16-10, 12:53 PM
I'll get TS2 then.

I'm trying to install ARMA at the moment, my first attempt failed; installed over old, modded install, so no surprise really.

I don't care what we play, if we play. Just a bit of messing around is fine with me. :)

(I'd like to try my hand at mission making too, but I never made anything for MP, no idea how to make that work. :hmmm:)

Dowly
01-16-10, 01:01 PM
Making missions for MP is a real PITA. Half the stuff that works for SP doesnt work for MP or if it does, it needs some extra step to make it work. I spent a fricking 2hrs trying to find a good text to speech program, recording and then editing the sounds to get some radio comms to the winter mission I made just to find out Hunter didnt see or hear any off it. :damn:

That's why I would want to keep the missions simple, pisses me off to see something I worked my arse off not working in the end. :x

Arclight

Raptor1

I'd rather use 1.18, ArmA needs every real, hypothetical or imaginary AI improvement it can get.

I probably won't be able to play today, but most chances are I'll either be around next week or join you after you start.

BTW what are the advantages of TS3 over TS2?

Arclight
01-16-10, 01:34 PM

I'll bring my little tank and rescue you!!

Haha, that was so funny. :haha: It felt so surreal, first Hunter comes to "help me" when I get wounded and throws me off the factory roof, then when I'm patched up I look to my left and see you ram that M113 thru the fence. Had a brief "Oh god.. what next..." moment there. :DL

Good game, the factory proved again to be a great place to be if you're looking for action in that mission. :yeah: Surprised that neither me or Hunter got killed there, we got wounded maybe 5-6 times in total, but the other always rushed to help the wounded one and the fight kept on going. :salute:

Oberon

Yeah, I could hear all the action on teamspeak but just couldn't get in because of MOSSAD. Still, I got there in time to bring the cavalry in! :yeah:
Then get shot. :salute: Then respawn and then get shot in our own base

Damn sneaky towelheads... :damn:

Before I left to class, I was kinda spamming the M203 grenades over the wall where oberon spotted a bi-pod stuck in the wall. I fired too high.

I killed a crippled civilian (It was an accident!) and several satellite dishes, therefore I achieved more than anybody else!

Arclight

Simple logic:

Not member of team = SPY
Member of team = POSSIBLE SPY

Btw, Hunter, remember when I said you probably had more games? Think I was mistaken...

Did a count:
24 Steam games
20 digital distribution (non-Steam) games
63 boxed games, excluding expansions and doubles

...

Anyone interested in a free copy of Civilization 4 or Fallout 3?
Got FO3 GOTY and Civ4 Complete, so the old copies are gathering dust.
Got Fallout 3 at release, so it comes with manual. Civ4 I got from bargain-bin, so no docs in the case. Both in good condition, no scratches on the disc. I'll even pay for shipping; consider it a late Xmas present. ;)

Wow...that's quite an offer. If you wouldn't mind I'd put in a bid for both. I've had both on my watch list for a while but never had the money to part for them. Particularly Fallout 3 which looks to be right up my street in terms of plot and gameplay.

Arclight
01-21-10, 01:51 PM
Alright, first come first served. :D

Just PM (or Skype or E-mail, whatever you prefer) a correct and complete mailing address (kinda important ) and I'll get it out the door asap. :yep:

I think it varies depending on how Hunter feels, if he's up to hosting, then he'll host, if not then he won't.

How's the latest Clowns vid coming along?

How's the latest Clowns vid coming along?

It's not. I recorded pretty much the whole game, but there wasnt that much happening. We were pretty scattered during the times I had time to look at the action, so it would've been more like "HunterICX & Dowly" video. And on top of that, I accidentally recorded it at half-size, so the quality was pretty crap.

Oberon

D'oh! :haha:
You should at least upload the rooftop healing bit and the M113 arrival. That was comical :03:
