Nice job. I think she can also be a stand-in for various two stack liners from other countries.
Voilą, also with cranes ^_^ (see first pic)
Generic liner? mmm funnels are a little stranges

VonDos, and other Unit Builders.
I can only say I'm amazed you have all missed what SH4
can teach you!
We do not need 5 models complete for each Unit!
We can do 5 Units with 1 model!
Look at the file configs stuff and see if you can see what I see.
If you can't figure it out?
I'll guide you.

Mmm :hmm: in roster .cfg file we can assign more names to same model, and we can assign her different datas for entry and exit. Are you referring to this?

Hi everyone!
After a stop, let's restart works ^^

Any impression?
Excelent.
Could you spare a few more pollys for the funnels and tone down the saturation a little?

For be honestly, i didn't like the previous post version; i've reworked all basing on QM and Laconia; this is a preview (with old funnels)

Von Dos,
Could you change the colors to the camo version of the West Point found on page 165 of the GWX 2.1 manual?
The West Point also had large rafts or floats attached to the sides of the ship below the life boats when she was a troop transport. Will you be adding those?
Also, the West Point was heavily armed. Will you be putting guns on her?
About weapons, this is the guns configuration (a deja vu for who have VD's liners)

Nice work, but is there a way to remap the bow textures? They look like they're pretty distorted in that latest version, to be honest. Just a suggestion...

I Agree, yes ^_^ textures for now are only a "preview"; i'll certainly rework them were distarted (bow and stern zone for example).
Standard line skin will also be clean, "no rusty". Camo will follow ^_^
Btw thanks for suggestions!
Camo colors will be takeb from this image:

mmm it appear tu be a difficult work ^_^

Von Dos,
The camo from that picture will look great on the America/Westpoint. Perhaps you could simplify the camo a bit so it is easier to texture.
Also, that picture shows the life rafts beneath the life boats. It would look very realistic if you could add a few of those.
Thank you for taking so much time and effort on the America. My Dad who sailed on her during the war has been eargerly following your progress.:D
Thanks Ruzbasan
Better than everyone, your Dad could be able to rate and correct this:

Note: i've start to correct bow textures, but some remains wrong. Next model step is related to masts and cables connections ^_^
Waiting for suggestions,
VonDos
I've lightly modified command deck zone (she was too similar to QM mother unit)
Another image, this is pre-1941 (without guns), but in West Point colors

Looking good VD:up:
The only point i can think off is the camo scheme would look better if it was just a tad darker and a little weathered.
Looks like another beauty!

Von Dos,
Absolutely incredible !!! She looks like the most realistic troop ship in the game!
I will see my Dad this weekend after the winter storm we are expecting in the Northeast. (He lives two hours away). He is not computer literate, so I show him your progress when he visits. I will bring the screen shots with me on my laptop for him to look over. He will be greatly excited to see this!
I will post his feed back here for you this weekend.
The only change I can see right now is fewer life rafts. Looking at the photo of the West Point, the model has 6 rafts too many in the mid section area. In the photo the rafts are in groups of 5 in the mid section of the ship, not all connected. Maybe remove 6-8 rafts in the mid section to seperate the rafts into smaller groups of 4-5 rafts each across the mid section.
Otherwise- just perfect !!!
A little story for you from my Dad- When he was crossing the Atlantic from the U.S. to Italy on the West Point in 1944, the ship was NOT escorted. She travelled alone because of her high speed. My father remembered that the whole ship would vibrate from the propellors when the stern came out of the water during heavy seas. There were other terrors. My father was assigned sleeping quarters below decks in the bow of the ship during the crossing. One night, my father was awakened when he was thrown from his hammock by a violent turn and lurching of the ship. Terrified, he asked a passing crew member what had happened. The sailor calmly said-"Nothing much, we just turned to avoid a torpedo." After that, my father rarely got a full nights sleep on board. (Oh, and my Dad said no one told the 7000 troops on board what to do or where to go if they were torpedoed- no life boat drills and no mae west vests).

I have other opinion ...
And adjust a smoke ...
Every opinion is welcome (also negative ^_^)
Please, Anvart, explain you, so you can help me to improve my work..
about funnels, i will move smoke's coordinates back :yep:

Thanks for the story. It's amazing how reckless the Allied navies were when it came to protecting some of their major ships. I read that even big warships like the "Rodney" would often travel solo early in the war. The "Indianapolis" & "Glorious" incidents showed what could happen if a valuable ship traveled in hostile areas without enough protection. :nope:
And good work, VonDos.

VonDos,
I showed my Dad the screen shots and he studied them for quite some time. He stated that he is amazed how accurate your model is to the America/West Point. He stated the number of life rafts on the sides need to be reduced. Other then that, he could see no area that needs correction. A beautiful model of the West Point !!
One correction in the story I stated earlier- My Dad stated that the sailor told him the West Point swerved to avoid two torpedoes, not one.

I think the reasoning was high speed meant less of a chance of being hit plus less screw noise of only one ship as opposed to a group
Impossible for a sub to catch up with them submerged and a struggle surfaced
Didnt always work though as once in a while a uboat was in the perfect position or took a chance at a shot
Nice unit Von D as usual
Thanks ^^
\\ "Nothing much, we just turned to avoid a torpedo."
and after this, try to sleep again :o
Thanks for this witness. This experience could be terrorific for everyone!
For casistic of big liners escorts, i remember RMS Queen Mary and her escort, cruiser HMS Curacao.
The liner was at speed, and in a zig zag route, she split in half the cruiser. And QM captain order to not stop for help survivors of the smaller ship, for U-Boat danger °_° Hard decision here, btw; Queen Mary was full of soldier, the risk was really elevated.

That's right mate....and further weight to the 'no escort' rationale http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/thumbsup.gif

Sorry, VonDos.
My opinion is not the negative ...
Simply it's not finished work (wip) ...
And to speak about success still early, though last sample is better previous ... :yep:
I would like, that the ship has been more detailed (especially decks), to have the best scale parity of all ship parts (mesh and texture), more the best texturing (UV mapping) ...
And i believe, that you can do it ... :yep:
...
To help you ... ???
My firm belief - only your own work (errors and success) and self-training will help you to become high-modder ...
Good luck.
Thanks for clarification mate, and for your words also! :hmm:
