Mikhayl,

That looks fantastic!

I already scripted the December 1941 attack on Alexandria. I'll now update my files with your new maiale.

(I tried viewing the maiale when I tested it today, but the water at night was too dark. I couldn't see a thing.)

Great work as always!
Can we see an human controled version in the future?
It would be fantastic doing raids at Gibraltar or Alexandria.

This silly Italian thing :nope: accounts for the sinking of HMS Valiant and HMS Queen Elizabeth in the harbour of Alexandria and for numerous other brilliant and daring successes:

Gute Jagd -- and don't step on the pride of Italian sailors.

"Six Italians, dressed in rather unusual diving suits and equipped with materials of laughably little cost, have swung the military balance of power in the Mediterranean in favour of the Axis".

Italy.
The home of The Roman Empire.
What?
Something like 2000 years?
Give or take a few hundred.

And anyone wonders at remarkable events since.
Face it.
They get a bad knock cause they were on the loseing side to start.

The loseing side always gets knocked about in History till years later.

You nearly make me cry
Simply wonderful
A tribute to the heros of the X° Mas.

Thanks a lot

I finally finished the Maiale, it was made mostly for Craig/Sabretwo but if someone else needs it feel free to use it :

http://files.filefront.com/Maiale+SH37z/;12372338;/fileinfo.html

The model has a rather high polycount compared to its size but since you won't see huge convoys of Maiales I doubt it will stress any computer one bit.

I'm just stressing this (it's in the readme as well):

If you install the mod as is, you simply won't see any Maiale at all in game, they need to be scripted in the campaign or single missions.

thanks

@Coronas, it would be doable but IMO not worth the time it would take. There would lots of tradeoffs and the payload would be very difficult to simulate (I don't think you could time the detonation). Still I agree I'd love to see a sim about midget subs and combat divers, there's lots of potential with Italian divers, British X-crafts & divers, German & Japanese midget subs etc, could be very challenging.

Thanks for the answer. It would be very challenging, really.

"Decima Flottiglia nostra che beffasti l'Inghilterra, vittoriosa ad Alessandria, Malta, Suda e Gibilterra. Vittoriosa già sul mare ora pure sulla terra, Vincerai!"

The History was written by winners, but the truth is still remaining in the middle of the No Man's land.

A fantastic mod, the warmest congratuations.

Hi All,
These craft were used by the British and called Chariots. They had limited success in the Med and were used in an attempt on the Tirpitz, but the rough seas around Norway caused them all to be lost. The interesting thing about the Valiant and Queen Elizabeth was that because they settled in very shallow water, sitting upright, it was not realised by the Italians that they had been sunk.
There is a lot of information on the Web about Chariots and frogmen and their exploits.
An officer in H.M.S.Vernon carried out trials with Chariots during the 50s but gave up after the one he was riding in the Solent sank under him.

I generally say:

There are no winners in a war, only survivors.

Thank you Plissken

I think you'll encounter difficulties in getting the engines powered up and maintaining a steady depth in GWX3.0......least that's what I encountered.

Keep us posted.
