Real Fleet Boat Mod

I want to install the Real Fleet Boat Mod but I am having problems.

This is what I have done so far.
Uninstalled my previous game and reinstalled a new game. I then patched to v1.4 and restarted my PC.

I then successfully installed JSGME.

I then went to AVGWarhawk’s topic in the “SH4 Fleet Boats Mods Workshop Forum”

1.4 Patch Compatible Mods List. I read the blurb and selected:-

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111770 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111770)
which took me to [REL] Real Fleet Boat version 1.31.

I selected the link to http://www.beerymod.com/SH4/RFB131.7z

Downloaded the file, extracted it to the mods folder and used JSGME to successfully install it into my newly installed game. However when I tried to run SH4 all I got was the vanilla version opening scenes and menu.

I went back to Berrie’s [REL] Real Fleet Boat version 1.3 and read through the message to find that, I quote,

“IMPORTANT NOTES:
This mod is to be used with Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific version 1.3. It may not work properly if you don't have the correct game version installed “

So I uninstalled the game and reinstalled and this time patched to v1.3. I restarted my PC, reinstalled JSGME and d/l Berry’s RFB mod again. But again all I got was the vanilla version of SH4.

In each case before I uninstalled the game I tried installing other mods with JSGME to prove that it was working OK.

So I am in a quandary. What am I doing wrong please?

hmmm, RFB doesnt change what the menu looks like, its okay, it almost got me too...

a good hint would be to get the 1.5 patch, its only 10 bucks, and a lot of the mods here are based on 1.5, so i would recommend it.

also, if you are absolutely sure its not working, try this.

take a file...lets say...Equipment.upc in the UPCUnitsData folder, open it up with Notepad...you don't have to let notepad open up the files every time, but, if you plan on modding, let notepad open it up every time.
do that BEFORE you mod ANYTHING! leave the file up

then, install RFB with JSGME, and find Equipment.upc
open it up in notepad, and compare it with the original one you opened up...
if they are the same, theres something wrong, if not, then its installed.

The 1.5 patch/addon is a must IMO. I'm not even sure if earlier versions of RFB are still supported. Most if not all the mods now are geared towards 1.5. Get it. You won't be sorry.

I do not think there is an earlier version of RFB before 1.5 around. Please, purchase the 1.5 uboat add on that supports RFB and OM (uboats). You get a whole bunch of bang for $10.00. Every mod is moving to this version of the game anyway so save yourself a major headache and move on up to 1.5! You will be glad you did.

I have kept up the download link for the 1.4 version of RFB.

Also, please keep these types of questions in the stickied thread at the top of this forum page.

Thanks to you all for the advice. The way forward is to get the 1.5 patch.

Incidently I modded to RFB without using JSGME and it went OK.
